2016-04-16 Thread Tyler Dinsmoor
Hello. Just installed Xen again, this time v 4.5, and no graphical
session is possible still. I am working on finding out a configuration
that works, and will make an update if a solution is found or not.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1571087] Re: apt gets confused about a dependency's version, falls over?

2016-04-16 Thread Dan Kegel
Hah. Invalid. The confusion came from another package that had been
built against the earlier ssl. Rebuilding all old packages built
against the earlier beta seems to have solved things.

So at worst, apt's error messages are hard to decipher... but we already
knew that.

Please close and forget this bug was ever filed :-)

Bug description:
Screenshot audio is not using alert role causing music to stop

  What happened:
  1) Open the music-app and play some music
  2) Take a screenshot
  3) Notice when the audio plays that the music stops

  What was expected to happen:
At step 3 for the music to 'duck' while the alert is being played and then
continue afterwards

It looks like the role is being attempted to be set here [0] but
  doesn't appear to be working

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1570806] Re: ubuntu-bug fails to open launchpad page when default browser is chromium

2016-04-16 Thread nicola dmt
I found that the issue may be with chromium itself, not apport: a
different application that is expected to open a given URL (ipython
notebook) fails to do that as well.

Using chromium-browser 49.0.2623.108-0ubuntu1.1233

(Note that chromium correctly open a requested URL if launched as
"chromium-browser " from the command line).

  New

Bug description:
Release: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (pre-release daily build)
  Hardware: Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series (Intel(R)) - 5559

Using ubuntu-bug correctly opens the GTK gui, but after hitting "Send" a new
chromium instance is opened with apparently no page loaded.
No errors are displayed, only this warning (although before hitting send):
  ```
  /usr/share/apport/apport-gtk:16: PyGIWarning: Wnck was imported without
specifying a version first. Use gi.require_version('Wnck', '3.0') before import
to ensure that the right version gets loaded.
from gi.repository import GLib, Wnck, GdkX11, Gdk
  ```

Workaround: making Firefox the default browser from within Firefox
  itself.

Note that ubuntu-bug --save PATH works fine.

  pointing to
  /usr/share/gdb/auto-load/usr/bin/python2.7m-gdb.py
  is missing from the package!

any good news. I tried to recompile dsdt table, to enable snd_hda_intel and
snd_hda_codecs_conexant disabling intel_sst: no improvements, also restoring
alsactl.
my workaround was..buying a bluetooth mini speakers..
..hoping for hotfixes.
What a pity!

   -- Didier Raboud Wed, 26 Aug 2015 12:00:00 +0200

The problem is that downloadable printer drivers (like the ones from
Openprinting, but also from other available providers) that are
suggested when installing a printer on Ubuntu depends on lsb, which is
  not available anymore:

  epson-inkjet-printer-201106w:
Dépend: lsb (>=3.2) but it is not installable

This triggers a regression where it is not possible to setup a printer
this way (downloading a driver where no local driver is available)
  anymore.

  I see two possible solutions:

  - Add a proper replaces field to one of the remaining lsb-* packages,
to hopefully fix missing lsb package (maybe it would be useful to also
replace other compability packages that are not built anymore).

  - Re-introduce LSB compatibility packages, but that might be an
  overkill.

Sorry, Till. The laptop can no longer access the Epson XP-410 printer.
The laptop needs printer access. So, I installed Linux Mint which has
the lsb package. No issues anymore for the user of this laptop.

Bug description:
  Hi,

As Ubuntu is being ported to tablets and phones, where communication
is an important aspect of their fonctionality, I would like to ask
whether it would be possible to add the glyphs of the emojis and other
symbols, which have been defined in Unicode 6.0 and 6.1 to the Ubuntu
  font.

If I am correct, the emoticons/emojis are code in Unicode from U+1F600
  bis U+1F64F.

However, other symbols like broken heart and others might also be
  interesting, for example: U+1F493 - U+1F493, U+1F4A1 - U+1F4A6, U+2639
  - U+2642,...

For those interested, these glyphs are currently included in the
fonts-vlgothic package in the Ubuntu repositories.

  Cheers

Title:
init scripts don't set console fonts

Status in console-setup package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  1) lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 15.10
  Release: 15.10

  2) apt-cache policy keyboard-configuration
  keyboard-configuration:
    Installed: 1.108ubuntu9
    Candidate: 1.108ubuntu9
    Version table:
   *** 1.108ubuntu9 0
  500 http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ wily/main amd64 Packages
  100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

  3) I expected to have cyrillic font for consoles (/dev/tty[1-6]) after
  sudo dpkg-reconfigure console-setup
  and reboot

  4) I have cyrrilic font until I reboot. After reboot I have black boxes
instead cyrillic chars.
  If I do:
  setfont /etc/console-setup/Uni2-TerminusBold16.psf.gz
then I have cyrrilic font in current console

  I found that these scripts
  /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-top/console_setup
  /lib/udev/console-setup-tty
  cannot properly set console fonts.
They don't recognize option CODESET="guess" and FONTSIZE="*x*" and check if
exist only *.psf file, but we have *.psf.gz

I get part of code from /bin/setupcon and paste it in
  /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-top/console_setup
  /lib/udev/console-setup-tty
and add extra test for psf.gz and acm.gz files

The attachment contain original scripts, fixed scripts and patches.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1571170] [NEW] nouveau with triple head = blank screen

2016-04-16 Thread Daniel Curran-Dickinson

Unfortunately apport can't report from the right driver because nouveau
ends up with a blank screen when running with three heads, and removing
one or two doesn't recover without a reboot, and with a single head the
system fails to get to a useable state because either unity or some
other gui thing launches on boot repeatedly crashes.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1568889] Re: Upgrade to OTA10 fails on Meizu MX4

2016-04-16 Thread Dario Cavedon
Don't know if it's the same problem, I have a MX4 running an old Ubuntu Touch
version r1, with the same problem. When I download a new version and try to
install it, I always get this error (see image http://imgur.com/XLxG4ql ).
So I try updating it via ubuntu-device-flash

ubuntu-device-flash touch --channel=ubuntu-touch/stable/ubuntu

I get this error

On Meizu MX4 upgrade from OTA-9.1 to OTA-10 fails.
Upgrade downloads normally, phone restarts and starts system upgrade and
after a while it freezes with strange icon (small microchip with red sign on it)

When you turn off the phone and start it again it still presents itself as
OTA-9.1 and again it founds and offer upgrade.
Anyway some changes from OTA-10 seems to be applied, because I can see design
changes, copy function in web browser etc.

It's reproducible on my phone any time I try to upgrade. If I can help
with output of some log, or anything else, please let me know.

Well described here by Lars Kristian Wichmann Hansen:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1536353] Re: [regression] Printer drivers install is broken as lsb package is not available anymore

2016-04-16 Thread Roderic Jones
I have wiped Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 and done a fresh install of Ubuntu
15.10.

the epson-printer-utility_1.0.0-1lsb3.2_amd64 installs and the printer
works perfectly - so the defect must be in the 16.04 libraries

    * Drop all the LSB compatibility packages besides lsb-release and lsb-base
  - Drop packages-availability checking in lsb-release
  - Truncate README.Debian to a minimum
  - Document this in lsb-base.NEWS.Debian
    * Change the versioning number to avoid any ambiguity; use joeyh's
version.date, with version being Debian next stable's

  - Re-introduce LSB compatibility packages, but that might be an
  overkill.

Title:
dmevent can not open shared object file libdevmapper-event-
lvm2snapshot.so leads to lvcreate/lvremove being slow

Status in lvm2 package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  1) lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu Xenial Xerus (development branch)
  Release: 16.04

  2) apt-cache policy lvm2
  lvm2:
Installed: 2.02.133-1ubuntu7
Candidate: 2.02.133-1ubuntu7
Version table:

  500 http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports xenial/main ppc64el Packages
  100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

  3) Expected lvcreate/lvremove test to take less than a second
  4) It took about 30 seconds instead

  To reproduce

  Use the script.

export GROUP='group-test'
export VOLUME='volume-test'
export SNAPSHOT='_snapshot-test'
export BACKING_FILE=/root/lvmbacking

if ! vgs -o name | grep $GROUP; then
  dd if=/dev/zero of=$BACKING_FILE bs=1M count=2000
  losetup /dev/loop100 $BACKING_FILE
  pvcreate /dev/loop100
  vgcreate $GROUP /dev/loop100
fi

lvcreate -n $VOLUME $GROUP -L 1g
lvcreate --name $SNAPSHOT --snapshot $GROUP/$VOLUME -L 1.00g
lvremove -f $GROUP/$SNAPSHOT
time lvremove -f $GROUP/$VOLUME

  During lvcreate/lvremove, /var/log/syslog would show:
  Mar 23 15:39:59 xenial-server-2016-01-18-ppc64el dmeventd[2753]: dmeventd
libdevmapper-event-lvm2snapshot.so dlopen failed:
libdevmapper-event-lvm2snapshot.so: cannot open shared object file: No such
file or directory.

  Workaround
  ==

In /etc/lvm/lvm.conf, change snapshot_library to use absolute path:

snapshot_library = "/lib/powerpc64le-linux-gnu/device-mapper
  /libdevmapper-event-lvm2snapshot.so"

The workaround is obviously would only work for the specific architecture. A
proper fix would be to find out why dmevent can not load the library, and fix
  that.

  Additional Notes

I have also tested this on Xenial x86 VM, and on baremetal install of Xenial.
Had the same problem on both.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1539627] Re: Buffer underflow in nano 2.4.2-1ubuntu0.1 causes SIGSEGV

2016-04-16 Thread Benno Schulenberg
Thanks for confirming. Strangely, I was now able to reproduce the crash
with your recipe on nano-2.4.2.

I think it has been fixed since then by commit 8a06dfa on August 2 last year,
which was a fix for a Debian bug [1],
which went into 2.4.3 and later.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1571155] [NEW] OSK in messaging-app is very slow

2016-04-16 Thread Guillaume F
Public bug reported:

Since OTA-10, the messaging-app has become very difficult to use. It
appears sluggish in general but the main problem is that the OSK is
unresponsive and pauses sometimes for 2 seconds. I think it happens
mostly when long pressing some keys to reveal other letters, and maybe
while checking the spelling. Reboots are ineffective, and the OSK works
fine everywhere else (Browser, Dekko). That's why I filed this against
the messaging-app.

I use the bq 4.5. Let me know if I can provide any more info!

** Affects: messaging-app (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1571154] [NEW] No wifi in 16.04 because of permission issue not having systemd-network permission

2016-04-16 Thread Marius B. Kotsbak
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to 16.04, I had no access to wifi. It only worked as
root. I fixed it by adding my user to the new "systemd-network" group.

The existing users (or those in group netdev) should be automatically be
added to "systemd-network" group during upgrade.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1536353] Re: [regression] Printer drivers install is broken as lsb package is not available anymore

2016-04-16 Thread Roderic Jones
This is still not working for me. I have Ubuntu 16.04 and Ubuntu Gnome
16.04 on different SSDs and neither of them will print using an Epson
WF-3520.

The cups-filters packages installed are 1.8.3-2ubuntu2

I see that this effects other makes of printer (e.g. Brother) where the
driver has to be downloaded.

    * Drop all the LSB compatibility packages besides lsb-release and lsb-base
  - Drop packages-availability checking in lsb-release
  - Truncate README.Debian to a minimum
  - Document this in lsb-base.NEWS.Debian
    * Change the versioning number to avoid any ambiguity; use joeyh's
version.date, with version being Debian next stable's

  - Re-introduce LSB compatibility packages, but that might be an
  overkill.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1363049] Re: [version bump] Please include LVM2 version > 2.02.106

Status in lvm2 package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
LVM2 introduced LVM Caching with 2.02.106 to allow backend cache (SSD)
  for other block storage (HDD).

The packages are built in Debian Sid, and it would be good to also
  include this package in Ubuntu.

  https://packages.debian.org/sid/lvm2

http://metadata.ftp-master.debian.org/changelogs//main/l/lvm2/lvm2_2.02.109-1_changelog

RHEL7 has this feature as a tech preview:

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/7/html/7.0_Release_Notes/chap-Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux-7.0_Release_Notes-Storage.html

Though Trusty's kernel version is too old to support LVM Cache,
Utopic's 3.16 kernel should work out of the box. Support was added in
  3.14.

Benefit over bcache and dm-cache is that the caching LV can be added
and removed without the need for reformatting the FS.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1570587] Re: [FFe] Please update to bugfix release 20.7

2016-04-16 Thread Adam Conrad
** Changed in: python-setuptools (Ubuntu)
Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

Ubuntu.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1570587

Title:
[FFe] Please update to bugfix release 20.7

Status in python-setuptools package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
In the upstream version v20.2 setuptools switched implementations of
parser libraries. This is an internal implementation detail, however
the new parser library did not correctly handle several edge cases
which caused regressions preventing certain packages from installing
or, in some cases, even running. These issues have been fixed upstream
by versions v20.6.6 and v20.6.8. The changelog delta between what
Ubuntu currently has an v20.7 looks like:

  v20.7.0
  ---

  * Refactored extra enviroment marker processing
in WorkingSet.
  * Issue #533: Fixed intermittent test failures.
  * Issue #536: In msvc9_support, trap additional exceptions
that might occur when importing
``distutils.msvc9compiler`` in mingw environments.
  * Issue #537: Provide better context when package
metadata fails to decode in UTF-8.

  v20.6.8
  ---

  * Issue #523: Restored support for environment markers,
now honoring 'extra' environment markers.

  v20.6.7
  ---

  * Issue #523: Disabled support for environment markers
introduced in v20.5.

  v20.6.6
  ---

  * Issue #503: Restore support for PEP 345 environment
markers by updating to Packaging 16.6.

  v20.6.0
  ---

  * New release process that relies on
`bumpversion `_
and Travis CI for continuous deployment.
  * Project versioning semantics now follow
`semver `_ precisely.
The 'v' prefix on version numbers now also allows
version numbers to be referenced in the changelog,
e.g. https://pythonhosted.org/setuptools/history.html#v20-6-0.

  20.5

  * BB Pull Request #185: Add support for environment markers
in requirements in install_requires, setup_requires,
tests_require as well as adding a test for the existing
extra_requires machinery.

  20.4

  * Issue #422: Moved hosting to
`Github `_
from `Bitbucket `_.
Issues have been migrated, though all issues and comments
are attributed to bb-migration. So if you have a particular
issue or issues to which you've been subscribed, you will
want to "watch" the equivalent issue in Github.
The Bitbucket project will be retained for the indefinite
future, but Github now hosts the canonical project repository.

As you can see, v20.4 simply adjusted documentation and some release scripts
to deal with the migration from Mercurial+Bitbucket to Git+Github and should
have little bearing on the actual project or have much potential for
regression. The next version, v20.5 did add a new feature, but was later
removed in v20.6.7. v20.6.0 is another release which largely just changed
processed and documentation without any major code changes. v20.6.1-5 are
nonexistent, v20.6.6 is a change we want, v20.6.8 is a change we want, and
v20.7 is some minor bugfixes and a tiny bit of refactoring.

You can see a diff here: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/253841863
  /python-setuptools_20.3.1-1_20.7.0-1.diff.gz though it is deceptively
larger than it actually is due to the rename of CHANGES.txt ->
CHANGES.rst and some shuffling around of URLs and such in the
  documentation.
