The fix is one line fixing a broken switch statement and was already tested against Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with a rebuilt curl package. This was fixed in upstream libcurl in the following bug: https://sourceforge.net/p/curl/bugs/1371/ The bug fix consists of one missing break statement at the end of a case in a switch statement. I personally patched the bug using source code release curl_7.35.0-1ubuntu2.6.dsc, used in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and verified it does indeed fix the bug and all of the package's tests still pass afterwards. [Test Case] The bug can be reproduced using the following libcurl parameters (even via CLI, pycurl, etc.). CURLOPT_SSLCERTTYPE == "P12" CURLOPT_SSLCERT = path to PKCS#12 CURLOPT_SSLKEY = path to PKCS#12 CURLOPT_SSLKEYPASSWD = key for PKCS#12 if needed Basically, just use a PKCS#12 format client certificate and private key against some certificate protected web server. [Regression Potential] If it could possibly break anything, which is extraordinarily unlikely, it would break one of the three client certificate formats (most likely PKCS#12 but also PEM or DER). Note 1/3 formats is already broken due to the bug. Client certificates of all three types could be checked to prevent this. I just ran into this upgrading from 14.04. My system is a btrfs raid across two LVM Volume Groups. Both volume groups need to be activated at boot, before the "btrfs device scan". The system used to do this. Putting a vgchange in a script in local-top fixes this. But I'm looking for cleaner solution. Boot used to work fine with 15.10. Hi, not that i would want to quarrel, nevertheless i want to clarify. The bug should not have been attributed to libisofs in the first place. Nobody cared to correct this misattribution in a timely manner. Today i got encouraged to take care of old Ubuntu bugs attributed to the packages where i am Debian Uploader and upstream developer. The bug report is about apt-get or a general feature of .deb packaging but in no way about the libisofs package in particular. That much i know the content of its ./debian SVN and its installation numbers. I apologize for putting it on the apt maintainers to judge about closing the bug report after having myself weighed whether it is up to me to do so. Just trying to be polite. It is commiserable that you wade in bug reports. I got rid of mine today, which deface the Debian package tracker pages. Everybody is invited to file some new ones. well, reassigning 3 years old bugs isn't really helping anyone… especially if there are no details. Even worse if you pull a "I had a complete unrelated issue I haven't reported a couple days ago, so that years old issue here must be a bug in apt". After all, in your reasoning, if it would be a general bug in apt, wouldn't apt be chest deep in such bugreports? We are chest deep in all sorts of bugreports for sure, but that can at least be partially attributed to being considered a good dumping ground for bugs package maintainers don't want to work on themselves. A strong hint for that is apologizing in advanced btw… :( Failing postinst are usually bugs in the package itself as it is using things which aren't (fully) installed it isn't allowed to use by policy, but does anyway. A huge pointer in that direction tends to be that just re-running apt/dpkg solves the issue. That doesn't need to generate a huge load of bugreports as there is a good chance that the maintainer is lucky enough to get the mistake hidden in 99% of all cases anyhow. Classic example is using python. In your case, back in that version the package didn't seem to have a manual postinst script (something which you could have checked…), just an autogenerated by debhelper calling ldconfig (essential in libc-bin). That failing indicates more hardware issues. No opportunity for an apt bug here in any case. Hi, my apologies to the maintainers of apt for moving this old bug report to their package. I feel not entitled to close it for being outdated. The problem is much more about apt-get than about libisofs (of which i am upstream developer and sponsored Debian uploader). If the libisofs package of a Ubuntu release would be generally uninstallable, then there would be much more complaints by users of e.g. Xfburn. So it must be about a local problem of the package management. (I had a failed apt-get "dist-upgrade" on Debian Sid a few days ago. Running dpkg --configure --pending and repeating apt-get "dist-upgrade" brought relief.) I'm porting Ubuntu Touch to Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. As I investigate
unity-system-compositor crash, it's found that the crash happens in mm's linker
(https://git.launchpad.net/~libhybris-maintainers/libhybris/+git/libhybris/tree/hybris/common/mm/linker.cpp#n2180),
where soname_ is NULL. Digging further, it's found that the library it's
trying to load (gralloc.omap4.so) indeed doesn't have soname in it.
My current workaround is applying this patch so that it checks whether soname_
is NULL:

Therefore the installation will fail but the root partition stays full and the user cant download any more apps or install OTA's and has to reflash the phone. Yes the app description says "we recommend that owners of these devices do not install the Desktop Applications click package" but it should be more specific. OK, mvo suggested that debsig-verify had /tmp hardcoded, and that this is fixed in the newer version from xenial. However, after having built and installed it on my phone, i don't see any difference in behavior. I don't see any files getting created in TMPDIR beyond a simple domain socket, which is presumably coming from click or something else, which gets destroyed after a package is finished installing. There are no other files appearing in TMPDIR while watching it with "watch ls -la $TMPDIR" yet the "used" memory count displayed in top, seems to increase to roughly the size of the click being installed. Does it look any better when you resize the same app in Unity 7? Public bug reported: Peer picker should never display an app that is requesting a content-hub operation (say export) in the list of apps that can import. For example, code has been added to Filemanager to register as a destination for many of the supported types. If you choose a photo in Filemanager and click it, it displays the peer picker with FileManager as one of it's choices. Not sure if that will be any help with fixing the bug but I've noticed the problem is only with right and bottom border of an app window. The top and left are fine whatever side I start resizing from. Also it looks like the title bar does not stutter when resizing, just the rest of the window. Which suggests the app might always be launched with portrait widths and then not resized until the app is active? What happened: 1) Start an app, such as System Settings 2) Rotate the device so that the app is landscape mode 3) Keep the device in landscape and launch the messaging app from the launcher 4) A black box appears on the right side of the app while starting up (it is white/same colour as the left side for some apps but you can still see the header resizing) What I expected to happen: At step 4 for the app to be launched with the correct width. Note this was found while having the 'hack' to have the unity8-dash in landscape mode, so happens a lot easier as you can launch apps in landscape mode from the dash. We'd like to change the leading action background from light grey back
to red. And switch the icon from red to white. However, I have spoken
to Andrea and the problem is regarding when a leading action is
disabled. Outlined as follows:
the default action delegate is just an Item { Icon {} } so it has no

Since this is not intuitive in QML (you usually bind content's size to parent's, not the opposite), we're seeing that the developers most of the times forget to add that binding. Proof: even the UI Components Gallery was not doing it, and as a result the labels in the list items of the left panel were *slightly* offset. https://code.launchpad.net/~faenil/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/fixListItemAlignmentUIGallery/+merge/287492 If the developer doesn't add that binding, the ListItem usually ends up being shorter in height than the ListItemLayout (or SlotsLayout) it contains. This is usually not a big issue because the deafult ListItem height is enough to show a couple of labels in a column, so the developer will usually not realize that he's done something wrong, but the vertical alignment of the slots will be wrong, because it's computed relative to ListItemLayout's height, not ListItem's (since ListItemLayout resizes dynamically by design to accomodate all the slots). In the worst case (very tall ListItemLayout/SlotsLayout with lots of text), ListItem layout will clip part of the content. My proposal is that we handle this automatically. The developer should not have to care about this detail, because ListItem+ListItemLayout/SlotsLayout is the our main and most important usecase for those components, so it should work straight out of the box and be as simple as possible to implement. My solution (although I only know ListItemLayout/SlotsLayout's code, not ListItem's): - change ListItem so that when a new child is added (content), it checks if that child is a SlotsLayout-derived component. If that is the case, and if that's the only child, then ListItem binds to content's height. NOTE: the solution described above is just a proposal, please make sure that the implementation doesn't prevent the dev from overriding or changing the behaviour if needed. We'd like to change the leading action background from light grey back
to red. And switch the icon from red to white. However, I have spoken
to Andrea and the problem is regarding when a leading action is
disabled. Outlined as follows:
the default action delegate is just an Item { Icon {} } so it has no

Therefore if there are several actions in the leading action slot, all

Bug description:
In Dell or ThinkPad (for these you need a kernel which includes fix
for lp:1574498) notebooks with keyboard backlight, the keybindings to
control the keyboard backlight don't emit any event to the userland,
about the state change, nor they request userland to change it (as it
happens in other models which emits KEY_KBDILLUM{UP,DOWN,TOGGLE}
events), this causes unity/gnome-settings daemon not to restore the
proper backlight after idle.
Steps to reproduce:
0) ensure your keyboard backlight is on, and
gdbus call --system --dest org.freedesktop.UPower \
--object-path /org/freedesktop/UPower/KbdBacklight \
--method org.freedesktop.UPower.KbdBacklight.GetBrightness
returns a value != from 0. If not, just call the SetBrightness
method with a positive value, to turn on the backlight.
Now turn off the keyboard backlight (or set it to another level)
using the laptop keys, and run:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.session idle-delay 1
to make things easier to test.
2) Wait one second and the screensaver should start. Wait the screen to
be turned off. If you just changed the brightness level at the step above,
once the screen is turned off, also the keyboard backlight should be
turned off too.
3) Now press a key or move the mouse.
Expected behavior:
4) The keyboard backlight should be set back to the previous level (so it
should stay off
or go back to the level you set before the idle timeout happened).
Actual behavior:
5) The backlight is set to the level it had at point 0).
To reset the idle-delay, just call
gsettings reset org.gnome.desktop.session idle-delay

I agree 100%. I'm testing Ubuntu touch on a Nexus 4, which is similar in size to my iPhone 6, and with no way to adjust the font size for the device, it is very difficult to read most of the text in different applications. I would also (as a low vision user) like to see this raised in priority. If not for this issue, I could almost move to Ubuntu Touch as my sole device now. Additionally, I hope this will be made part of the Ubuntu overall SDK so other apps will take advantage of the font size selection for the device as a whole. I was about to report a new bug about resizing but I found this one. I've noticed the problem is only with right and bottom border of an app window. the top and left are fine whenever side I start resizing from. Also it looks like the title bar does not stutter when resizing, just the rest of the window. [Regression potential] Packages which depend on libbfd-2.26-system.so are currently broken with the binutils in xenial-updates. No packages appear to have been built yet against the libbfd-2.26.1-system.so soname. Therefore the regression potential is minimal. The solution is intended to be compatible with both upstream sonames, so that any future packages which do rebuild against the 2.26.1 soname will have a versioned dependency on binutils (>= 2.26.1), binutils (<= 2.27). I have finally collected shutdown info using vt9. Issues collecting info due to what I believe is a timeout where vt9 is not activated when ctl+alt+F9 is pressed. I was able to collect info in vt9 to file "shutdown.text" I appended outputs to file "shutdown.text" the following commands in this order: systemctl list-jobs >>shutdown.text systemctl --failed >>shutdown.text uname -a >>shutdown.text systemd --version >>shutdown.text lsblk >>shutdown.text blkid >>shutdown.text journalctl -b >>shutdown.text systemctl -all >>shutdown.text journalctl -xe >>shutdown.text After gaining these data I was only able to finish the reboot with the alt+Sysrq and REISUB which forces a reboot even when I just want to shutdown Each output I separated upon next boot by hand with a line # for easier perusing. As a workaround for shutdown/reboot I turn swap off, 'sudo swapoff -a && systemctl poweroff' or 'sudo swapoff -a && reboot' which occasionally fails if SWAP has more data than available RAM. In that latter case I am left waiting for the hang and then using alt+Sysrq+REISUB to reboot then shutdown again immediately upon boot before SWAP has a chance to gain data, then I can use any form of halt, poweroff or menu to shutdown. I have been unable to get answers from AskUbuntu or the above listed bug #1464917 "Reached target Shutdown" I am filing this bug per instructions requested in that bug. Hello. It seems, that this problem still is not fixed in 12.04 LTS Release (e.g. Xubuntu: yes, I know it has EoL status). `accountsservice` crashing every time after every user logs in. But it seems, that "solution" is to disable `apport` via '/etc/default/apport' file. It's pretty simple: 1) edit apport file; $ sudo leafpad /etc/default/apport 2) change 'enabled=1' option to 'enabled=0' 3) save and exit. That's all. After system restart etc., and user login, `accountsservice` crash does not occur. As I already mentioned: Xubuntu 12.04 LTS is EoL and it seems that this issue is fixed in Ubuntu (see above table with 'Affects', 'Status', 'Importance' etc. rows). Looks like clocks still get their own category there? (Just reading the source.) But it is improved... Instead of "wasting" 1 out of 6 categories, it's only 1 out of 9 categories. Although it looks like clocks have been moved up to be first category listed, in front of face emojis! Maybe I don't understand how people use emojis, and there is wide spread clamoring for clocks.
