[Touch-packages] [Bug 1766440] Re: GDM does not default to primary monitor
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1723025 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1723025 Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug 1723025, so it is being marked as such. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => gdm3 (Ubuntu) ** Tags added: multimonitor ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1723025 no login screen when booting with an external monitor attached -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1766440 Title: GDM does not default to primary monitor Status in gdm3 package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have my monitor in the hdmi port of my gtx780 and my tv in the displayport. Something about X seems to have a bias towards the dp output. During the installer I had to unplug the tv (displayport) and continue the installation. When I plug it in I have to use super + p to switch to 'extend' instead of duplicate. This has a high probability to make the mouse unable to click anywhere in gnome. From this point I am able to set my monitor as the primary monitor and gnome works as expected. I rebooted and gdm still defaulted to my secondary (dp) monitor. I blindly logged in (enter + password + enter) and the desktop switched a few times between tv as default and monitor as default. It finally settled on the monitor as default however I could not click anywhere in gnome. I was able to get control again by pressing the window button, typing and opening a program, from here I was able to alt-tab to the program and was able to click on the desktop again. From here I went to settings to verify my settings and saw that my setting of the monitor (hdmi) as the primary monitor was still there. I suspect grub is defaulting to displayport, passing this default to gdm, then once gdm exits and gnome is loaded the proper default is restored. However Gnome is not in 'focus' for some reason and it takes work to fix this. A separate effort should probably be crated around the super + p display switching dialog as it has a high probability of locking a user out of the session. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1766015] Re: Session crashes, returning to login screen
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 17.10 (artful) reached end-of-life on July 19, 2018. See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling us which new version it is in and change the bug status to Confirmed. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1766015 Title: Session crashes, returning to login screen Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: Sometimes, while using my computer, everything on the screen just freezes (but audio keeps playing) and then a couple seconds later, everything is black (and audio stops at this point), and then I am brought back to the login screen. In addition, the numlock light on my keyboard is lit up, but numlock is actually turned off, requiring me to hit the numlock key again. I don't know if using two HDMI monitors at once is relevant or not. Before: (trust field _is not_ present) # ip link show dev ens1f0 ... vf 0 MAC 00:00:00:00:00:00, spoof checking on, link-state auto vf 1 MAC 00:00:00:00:00:00, spoof checking on, link-state auto After: (trust field _is_ present) # ip link show dev ens1f0 ... vf 0 MAC 00:00:00:00:00:00, spoof checking on, link-state auto, trust off vf 1 MAC 00:00:00:00:00:00, spoof checking on, link-state auto, trust off * Set the VF trust on/off and check it: Set VF 0 trust on: # ip link set ens1f0 vf 0 trust on # ip link show dev ens1f0 | grep trust vf 0 MAC 00:00:00:00:00:00, spoof checking on, link-state auto, trust on vf 1 MAC 00:00:00:00:00:00, spoof checking on, link-state auto, trust off Set VF 0 trust off: # ip link set ens1f0 vf 0 trust off # ip link show dev ens1f0 | grep trust vf 0 MAC 00:00:00:00:00:00, spoof checking on, link-state auto, trust off vf 1 MAC 00:00:00:00:00:00, spoof checking on, link-state auto, trust off [Regression Potential] * Regression potential is low because the commits just add the netlink attribute for the userspace-kernel interface and the ways to set/clear it, and show the current value to the user. * Regressions could happen _if_ the user turns the setting on (it's disabled by default) and there's a problem/bug likely in _other_ component that depends on that setting (which is something to fix on such component). [Other Info] * The users that reported this problem have verified the test package with these changes, and confirmed that it now works correctly for IPv6 NDP/multicast. * Upstream commits: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/network/iproute2/iproute2.git/commit/?id=dddf1b44126e https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/network/iproute2/iproute2.git/commit/?id=fe9322781e63 https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/network/iproute2/iproute2.git/commit/?id=b6d77d9ee312 * Only affect Xenial release : # rmadison iproute2 iproute2 | 4.3.0-1ubuntu3.16.04.3 | xenial-updates iproute2 | 4.15.0-2ubuntu1| bionic iproute2 | 4.18.0-1ubuntu2| cosmic iproute2 | 4.18.0-1ubuntu2| disco # iproute2 upstream vcs $ git describe --contains dddf1b44126e v4.4.0~67 $ git describe --contains b6d77d9ee312 v4.5.0~47 $ git describe --contains fe9322781e63 v4.6.0~32 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/iproute2/+bug/1800877/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1801642] [NEW] Bluetooth mouse sleep after 5 seconds of inactivity
Public bug reported: I'm having bluetooth mouse lag issue. After leaving it stationary for 5 seconds, I have to move it for 2 seconds before the pointer starts moving. I recently upgraded to Cosmic 3 days ago (from Bionic). There was no issue in the first 3 days, including after suspend/restart/shutdown. This issue only appears starting today. I tried: 1. Running 'bluetoothctl' and then 'scan off'. The command failed to run with 'Failed to stop discovery: org.bluez.Error.Failed'. 2. modprobe -r btusb, then modprobe it again. 3. sudo sh -c 'echo N > /sys/module/drm_kms_helper/parameters/poll' 4. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1793229 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1793229 ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1793229 [VYBE, Realtek ALC892, Green Line Out, Rear] skipping/underruns -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1735995 Title: [ALC892] Audio skipping/'crackling', pavucontrol shows constant (1-sec) dropping of connection to server Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: So to clarify, the audio is *rapidly* dropping (i.e. drops every sec or so), which seems roughly in time with Pavucontrol constantly flickering up a "Establishing connection to PulseAudio. Please wait..." message. I've tested both the front and back audio plugs on my desktop, both show the same problem. It doesn't 'flicker' through HDMI-audio, which is a viable workaround as long as HDMI-audio *works* (I don't think that's a "bug", so much as it hasn't been implemented, and won't be until DAL arrives). Anyway, IIRC the problem also occurs on other distros, and at some point it *was* working, before some software update. The same problem occurs on other distros too. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1499858] Re: bluetoothd[650]: Failed to obtain handles for "Service Changed" characteristic
Hello, Just to chime in here. I compiled bluez-5.43 and installed it on ubuntu 16.04 and it got rid of all the "Not enough free handles to register service" errors except this one "Failed to obtain handles for "Service Changed" characteristic. Before doing this there were many "Not enough free handles to register service". Any ideas on this last error "Failed to obtain handles for "Service Changed"?? Ubuntu MATE 18.04 totally crashed (I had to reinstall 18.04 just to boot). Since I was going to have to reinstall everything, I thought to check and see if 18.04 was the latest. It isn't, so I decided to try 18.10 before reinstalling everything. Unfortunately, its still very buggy. Both the Software Botique and the Software app are buggy. With the Software app down, I can't even try to load Eclipse - which is in the 18.04 Software app. When I try to report bugs with ubuntu-bug, I get yet more bugs. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1585903] Re: Make it possible to remove gtk2
gtk2 is no longer in the default install for most locales. DONE: Don't have webkit2 recommend the gtk2 support. 2. NOT NEEDED: Split the gtk2 part of light-themes to a separate package. 3. DONE: Use a dh_shlibdeps hack to drop the libgtk2.0-0 dependency from these GTK2 addons: a. DONE: gnome-themes-standard b. DONE: gtk2-engines-murrine c. DONE: gtk2-engines-pixbuf (not in default install but installed by vanilla gnome-session) d. DONE: ibus-gtk 4. DONE: Drop gnome-session-canberra's unnecessary manual dependency on libcanberra-gtk0 5. PROPOSED: Either disable Flash in Thunderbird or apply the dh_shblideps hack from Firefox. Either way probably needs Thunderbird Beta, but Thunderbird 59 should be stable or close it to by 18.04 release. 6. DONE in Firefox 58 Beta: Apply the dh_shlibdeps hack to Firefox 7. IN PROGRESS: Prepare a debconf-gtk3 backend and switch gnome- software and software-properties-gtk to use it (LP: #1736618) 8. DONE: Demote kerneloops dependency on kerneloops-applet to Suggests. 9. IN PROGRESS: Don't have ubuntu-desktop or gnome-orca recommend libgail-common. It's a gtk2 library (basically) that gtk2 already recommends. 10: optional: Apply the dh_shlibdeps hack to the gtk2 modules and theme engines that aren't in main. Original Bug Report --- I can't remove GTK2 from my system, because parts of GNOME still require it.
