Bug description:
Systemd upstream switched the default cgroup hierarchy to unified with
v243. This change is reverted by the Ubuntu systemd packages, but as
unified is the way to go per upstream support should be added to all
  relevant Ubuntu packges (and snaps):

  https://github.com/systemd/systemd/blob/v243/NEWS#L56

  * systemd now defaults to the "unified" cgroup hierarchy setup during
build-time, i.e. -Ddefault-hierarchy=unified is now the build-time
default. Previously, -Ddefault-hierarchy=hybrid was the default.
This
change reflects the fact that cgroupsv2 support has matured
substantially in both systemd and in the kernel, and is clearly the
way forward. Downstream production distributions might want to
continue to use -Ddefault-hierarchy=hybrid (or even =legacy) for
their builds as unfortunately the popular container managers have
not
caught up with the kernel API changes.

Systemd is rebuilt using the new default and is available from the following
PPA for testing:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1853768] Re: Qt apps, like kid3-qt, which uses legacy icons "document-*.png", show them as normal document icon under Yaru theme

2019-12-24 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
When an icon is missing (e.g. document-open), Qt first falls back to
splitting the name by dashes and taking the first part of it (document).
Only then it falls back to parent icon themes (Yaru → Humanity). So for
all document-* icons it uses document.png from MimeTypes context.

Doing it vice versa would fix the bug. However, the specification
explicitly tells us to behave as Qt currently does:
https://specifications.freedesktop.org/icon-naming-spec/icon-naming-
spec-latest.html#guidelines

> if the more specific item does not exist in the current theme, and
does exist in a parent theme, the generic icon from the current theme is
preferred, in order to keep consistent style.

Another potential fix would be ignoring the MimeTypes context. The
specification says that fallback happens “for all contexts other than
MimeTypes”. However currently Qt’s icon loader does not take contexts
into account at all. So fixing it in Qt would be difficult.

I have just pinged the Yaru theme maintainer, let’s hope the fix from
Yaru will land in Ubuntu soon.

  document-revert.png
  document-import.png
  document-export.png

The icons are all shown as the same normal document icon under Yaru.

Qt apps only have a problem with legacy icons starting with
"document-*" and all other legacy icons are inherited from Humanity
  under Yaru.

Is there a general solution to force Qt apps to choose the closest
icon name from Yaru or Humanity?

Should this bug be issued against upstream Qt?

2019-12-24 Thread Rumpeltux
I have the same issue too, but cannot confirm it's related to the
interface being down:

# ifconfig wlan0 down; ip token set ::2 dev wlan0; ifconfig wlan0 up
RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument

[Xubuntu] 3/4 of XFCE and console screen is unreadable

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
After upgrading to kernel 4.13.0-26-generic "3/4" part of screen is
unreadable. It is both in xorg/xfce and console (ctrl+alt+F1).
Everything works perfect when I reboot my laptop with older
4.10.0-42-generic kernel. I'm not sure whether it is Xorg bug or
kernel graphics driver bug. The unvisible 3/4 part of the screen seems
to be fully operational. I may open an application window in it and
drag it to the visible 1/4 part of the screen. Besides the screen
display issue the system seems to run properly. I was able to report
this bug while running the 4.13.0-26-generic kernel. The laptop is
  Samsung N130.
