[Touch-packages] [Bug 1923129] Re: Display output laggy from iGPU when operating on desktop with attaching AMD R7 430 graphic (dGPU)

2021-04-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

It appears you have the 'oibaf' PPA installed which is unsupported and
known to cause graphics bugs. Please uninstall that PPA from the system
and then if you experience any more issues open new bugs.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1923115] Re: Networkd vs udev nic renaming race condition

2021-04-08 Thread Seyeong Kim
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

  systemd-networkd renames nic just after udev renamed it

  e.g

  kernel: [ 2.827368] vmxnet3 :0b:00.0 ens192: renamed from eth0
  kernel: [ 7.562729] vmxnet3 :0b:00.0 eth0: renamed from ens192
  systemd-networkd[511]: ens192: Interface name change detected, ens192 has
been renamed to eth0.

  This cause netplan or the other network management pkg can't find proper
  nic sometimes.

  This happens on Bionic

  Below commit seems to solve this issue.

https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/11881/commits/30de2b89d125a8692c22579ef805b03f2054b30b

  There are bunch of related commits but above one the customer tested it
  worked.

  [Test Plan]

  The customer has issue and they could help us to test this.
  Internally they already test this and it worked.

  [Where problems could occur]

- systemd-networkd nic renaming could have issue.
+ systemd-networkd should be restarted for this patch. systemd-networkd
+ nic renaming could have issue. renaming may not be happening
+ unexpectedly. e.g doesn't rename it properly or rename it when it should
+ do.

  UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)

  Since approximately 16/03/2021 ubiquity from maybe-ubiquity (try
  install screen) and from the live session is crashing on launch or
  shortly after.

  Cases where the crash can be triggered:

  - Using a Virtualbox VM, where graphics acceleration is handled by mesa with
LLVMPIPE
  - Start the ISO on real hardware in 'safe graphics mode'

  Cases where the crash is not encountered:
  - Start the ISO on real intel (HD graphics) hardware with full acceleration.

  NOTE: The crash can be avoided by downgrading MESA 21.0.x packages to
  the previous 20.3.4 in hirsute.

  Try/Install crash:

  Screen fails to start, or starts then crashes on any user action. The
  user is presented with:

  "Installation failed - The installer encountered an unrecoverable error.
  A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or
try installing again"

  Live session crash:

  The installer does not start from the desktop icon. Starting ubiquity
  from the terminal results in an "Aborted (core dumped)" message and
  nothing else.

  The crash is most commonly "malloc(): unaligned tcache chunk
  detected", but inevitably from this sort of memory issue can be
  something like "realloc(): invalid next size"

  An example /var/log/installer/debug log from a session where both
  crashes were triggered is below.

  Solutions I found in different forums were to move lightdm-guest-session into

  `aa-complain /usr/lib/lightdm/lightdm-guest-session`
  ### maybe better sollution:
  My fix would be to add this to `/etc/apparmor.d/lightdm-guest-session`:
  ```
  ...
  /usr/lib/lightdm/lightdm-guest-session {
  ...
owner /run/user/[0-9]*/ICEauthority-? l,`
  ...
  }
  ```
  I honestly have no clue about apparmor and I'm unsure where to post this but
I hope this maybe helps some other people in the future.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1921655] Re: lightdm-guest-session ICEauthority error

2021-04-08 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Thanks for your investigation and report!

I'd like to help fixing this, but unfortunately lightdm fails to build
in hirsute at the moment, which blocks me from proceeding.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/test-
rebuild-20210325-hirsute/+build/21263293

Have asked for help with spotting what causes the build failure.

Bug description:
  What happens:

  If an Asus STXII 7.1 sound card is installed and another output device
  is present, there is a strange behavior in the Gnome audio settings.

  After the first start of Ubuntu the Asus soundcard is not the default
  device. This can be selected in the Gnome settings. If a different
  speaker configuration is selected now. E.g. stereo instead of 5.1 or
  vice versa, the selection jumps from the Asus output device back to
  the original output device. The Asus sound card can then be selected
  again and the corresponding speaker configuration will fit now.

  If 5.1 is selected as the mode, there is a second problem.
  Moving the balance slider (left / right) moves the slider (front / back)
slightly as well.
  The slider for lfe is grayed out, even when I enable the lfe remixing in
/etc/pulse/daemon.conf
  In the speaker test, all 5.1 channels work fine, including the lfe.

  For better illustration I made a screen video. (see attachment)

  This is probably a general bug in Gnome - it has been occurring since
  Ubuntu 18.x and affects all distros that use Gnome since then.
  Unfortunately I was not able to make a report in Gnome, because the
  registration on the Gnome site does not work anymore... Maybe you have
  a good contact to the Gnome team?

  Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Release 20.04)
  Package: gnome-control-center (1:3.36.1-1ubuntu5)

  Expected behavior:
  It should be possible to select the sound card and the setting should be
retained even if the speaker configuration is changed. Furthermore, the balance
sliders should not influence each other.
  Lfe slider should work. (And in a perfect world this would also activate lfe
remixing and gives the user a cross over frequency option, but this is just an
idea :)

  Mathias

Bug description:
  [Impact]
  Installations that really succeeded would then fail because APT could not
immediately configure a package. Which is a pointless way to fail at that
point, because everything did work out anyway.

  We have two changes that help address this:

  * The first one stops immediately configuring multi-arch siblings
  (e.g. libc6:i386 when it's configuring libc6:amd64). This was not
  necessary, and caused all the libc6:i386 failures here.

  * The second change sort of also supersedes the first one: It just
  ignores any errors from immediate configuration, relying on the fact
  that it's checked and rectified at a later point if there are
  unconfigured packages (which is what made all those failures happen
  spuriously after having successfully installed everything).

  [Test case]
  We have one test case in EIPP format in the Debian bug 973305 which was only
helped by the second change, not the first one. Run /usr/lib/apt/planners <
eipp.log and check there are no errors.

  TODO: It's unclear if the APT from proposed installed in the live
  session will fix the installer, needs investigation, but would make a
  useful test case.

  [Regression potential]
  It's imaginable that we missed something somewhere and some path that checked
for a set error doesn't check it anymore, and we report success when we hit an
error, but it seems unlikely.

  Behavior of --simulate changes. This used to fail before as well, and
  will now only produce a warning. We don't believe that is a reason of
  concern.

  [Groovy SRU]
  The groovy SRU is a sync of the 2.1.11 micro release from Debian unstable
which also incorporates changes to the documentation: A typo fix, replacing
focal with groovy in examples, and minor Dutch manual pages translation updates.

  We do not have test cases for the documentation changes, and we do not
  consider there to be a huge regression potential. As long as they
  build, they should be readable - maybe some words are wrong in the
  translation, who knows.

  [Original bug report]
  Test Case
  1. Install Ubuntu Desktop on hardware with an nVidia card and select to
install 3rd party drivers
  2. Proceed with installation

Look, I'm far less worried about it than I was, because the dialogue box no
longer comes up every boot. I don't know what changed, but something did,
in the last 3 days or so.

Thank you for getting back to me, but the 'issue' seems to have resolved
itself.

  [Original bug report]

install 3rd party drivers

If the crash file were ready to be uploaded there would be a ".upload"
file and after it is uploaded there will be a ".uploaded" file. You can
force the process by running "ubuntu-bug

Title:
  ntpd crashes using GPSD_JSON clock

Status in ntp package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:

  I am trying to use gpsd as a time source for ntp. When I add this to
  ntp.conf:

  server 127.127.46.0 minpoll 4 maxpoll 4 noselect
  fudge 127.127.46.0 time1 0.0 time2 0.0 refid GPS

  Then ntp will crash shortly after starting although the amount of time
  the daemon runs for is not constant. Running the normal ntpd command
  and adding -n and -d the last few lines of output are:

   8 Apr 14:34:14 ntpd[88025]: GPSD_JSON(0): GPSD revision=3.20 release=3.20

  gpsd is running and has a fix, the PPS and SHM ntp clocks are working
  with ntp.

  tl;dr the manpage(s) needs to be fixed for this change as well:

  Julian, thanks for the fix. In crontab(5) in cron 3.0pl1-136ubuntu2
  the manpage is now wrong. It says:

  > Several environment variables are set up automatically by the
  cron(8) daemon. […] PATH is set to "/usr/bin:/bin". HOME, SHELL, and
  PATH may be overridden by settings in the crontab […]

  and also

  > On the Debian GNU/Linux system, cron supports the pam_env module,
  and loads the environment specified by /etc/environment and
  /etc/security/pam_env.conf. It also reads locale information from
  /etc/default/locale. However, the PAM settings do NOT override the
  settings described above nor any settings in the crontab file itself.
  Note in particular that if you want a PATH other than
  "/usr/bin:/bin", you will need to set it in the crontab file.

  These should be fixed I think. There might be other spots that I
  didn't notice yet too.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  When connecting to an LDAP server with TLS, ldap_search_ext can hang
  if during the initial TLS handshake a signal is received by the
  process. The cause of this bug is the same as
  https://bugs.openldap.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8650.

  In our case this bug cause failures in the SSSD LDAP backend at least
  once per day, resulting in authentication errors followed by a sssd_be
  restart after a timeout has been hit.

  [Test Plan]
  ===

  When using openldap on 20.04, this bug causes failures in the SSSD
  LDAP backend, resulting in authentication errors followed by a sssd_be
  restart after a timeout has been hit:

  Mar 19 19:05:31 mail auth[867454]: pam_sss(dovecot:auth): received for user
redacted: 4 (System error)
  Mar 19 19:05:32 mail sssd_be[867455]: Starting up

  With the patched version, this should no longer be a problem.

  [Where Problems Could Occur]

  With this patch applied, there may be few edge cases in (and varying
  b/w) different versions of GnuTLS. And also some bits that are
  discussed in https://bugs.openldap.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8650.

  But that said, the patched version is already being run in production
  for over two weeks time (at the time of writing - 07/04/21). So I
  believe the SRU will clearly benefit from this and has lower risk of
  regression.

  [More Info]
  ===

  A reduced version of the patch linked above can be found attached to
  this bug report. This patch has been applied to version 2.4.49+dfsg-
  2ubuntu1.7 and has been running in production for approximately a week
  and the issue has no longer occurred. No other issues have appeared
  during this period.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1923075] [NEW] Unmaximizing a window by dragging is buggy

2021-04-08 Thread Markus Ilmola
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 21.04 beta (using the wayland session) when unmaximizing a
window by dragging it off from the top bar at least two bugs happen
randomly.

1. The window might not unmaximize at all but keeps it's maximized size.
2. The unmaximize animation does not play correctly (only "slides" but does not
"scale").

Note that unmaximizing by using the maximize button or alt+f10 works correctly.
Also X applications such as xterm unmaximize correctly when dragged off from
the top bar.

   20 extern "C" {

  Through the chain of headers as reported above this gets to the templates
  in /usr/include/c++/10/type_traits which fails due to that.

  So C++ constructs within a C scope which is this bug.

  Upstream qemu has not recently changed yet for this.
  The code is the same since 2016 via commit e78490c44: "disas/arm-a64.cc:
  Include osdep.h first" by Peter Maydell.

  But what was different before to break it now?
  To find that I was comparing Hirsute vs Hirsute-proposed ...

  It is indeed failing in -proposed but working in hirsute-release.

  /etc/security/pam_env.conf. It also reads locale information from
  /etc/default/locale. However, the PAM settings do NOT override the
  settings described above nor any settings in the crontab file itself.
  Note in particular that if you want a PATH other than
  "/usr/bin:/bin", you will need to set it in the crontab file.

  These should be fixed I think. There might be other spots that I
  didn't notice yet too.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1922266] Re: eth0 interface name change fails on Pi 3/3+

Title:
  eth0 interface name change fails on Pi 3/3+

Status in ubuntu-meta package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  The netplan configuration in ubuntu-raspi-settings (and more widely,
  the network-config in the gadget used on the server images) fails to
  rename the internal ethernet interface on Pi 3B and 3B+ models from
  "en" to "eth0". In the netplan case this is because the
  driver matching logic doesn't handle space-separate driver matches
  (although the underlying networkd system does); in the cloud-init case
  it simply refuses to rename interfaces that aren't matched by full MAC
  address.

  The intended fix is to stop attempting to do this via netplan or
  cloud-init, and simply handle this via a networkd .link file in
  ubuntu-raspi-settings. This will require an update to the relevant
  seeds as this package is currently only pulled into ubuntu-desktop-
  raspi, not ubuntu-server-raspi.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1922792] Re: Bluez should notify users when they need to reboot to apply changes on Raspberry Pi

2021-04-08 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for the work, could give a bit more context why a reboot is
needed in those cases? Isn't restarting the service enough?

Having hardcoded addresses in the script seems a bit fragile. And is
that the sort of change we could try to upstream to Debian to not
increase our delta?

Also the description states 'In the case of upgrading bluez', is that
specific to some version? if the issue is with upgrade the postinst code
should check that we are in the upgrade case and not a new install no?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1923059] [NEW] ntpd crashes using GPS_JSON clock

2021-04-08 Thread James Dingwall
Public bug reported:

Release:20.04
Codename:   focal

I am trying to use gpsd as a time source for ntp. When I add this to
ntp.conf:

server 127.127.46.0 minpoll 4 maxpoll 4 noselect
fudge 127.127.46.0 time1 0.0 time2 0.0 refid GPS

Then ntp will crash shortly after starting although the amount of time
the daemon runs for is not constant. Running the normal ntpd command
and adding -n and -d the last few lines of output are:

  [Impact]

   * This issue affects AMD graphics on Xfwm4 4.14.1.

   * Windows are displayed staggered with a multi-window layout

  [Test Plan]

   * Use AMD graphics drivers

   * Connect a second display at a different resolution

   * Open multiple windows

   * While the issue is present, the windows and desktop will appeared
  staggered

   * Once fixed, they display normally.

  [Where problems could occur]

   * Regression potential should be relatively low, as the release
  between 4.14.1 and 4.14.5 are bug releases.

   * With window managers, some changes could lead to different behavior
  and other broken displays. Non-AMD graphics users should also test for
  regressions.

  [Other Info]

   * Please see the Xfwm4 release notes for changes between 4.14.1 and 4.14.5:
https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfwm4/-/blob/xfce-4.14/NEWS#L7-44

  [Original Report]

  Update based on further research.

  This only happens when the secondary external display is operating at
  a different pixel width to the internal. In this case eDP is 1920x1080
  whereas the external HDMI-A-0 is natively 1680x1050.

  It is caused by xfwm4's recent switch from using glx to xpresent for
  AMD GPUs.

  The underlying bug is in the AMD driver.

  I was able to reproduce on an external 1920x1200 display only when it
  was set to a non-native 1680x1050 resolution.

  ---
  Two identical Lenovo E495 laptops with 20.04 installed. The problem occurred
initially on the laptop that is having package upgrades applied regularly.

  With dual monitors and the external monitor placed left or right the
  display has a blocked staircase effect shown in the attached
  photograph, and seems related to

  https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-
  amdgpu/-/issues/10

  More detailed investigation suggests it only happens when the X
  coordinate of the two monitors is different. The symptom looks like an
  off-by-one error because it appears as if the display is divided into,
  say, 10 rows and 15 columns but the first row has 16 'columns' worth
  of blocks on it and so wraps to the beginning of the 2nd row, and so
  on.

  On the laptop without package upgrades being applied this didn't
  happen. So I upgraded it (314 packages) and restarted and it too sees
  the same problem.

  I suspected libxcomposite1 and downgraded it to 1:0.4.5-0ubuntu1 but
  that didn't solve it.

  I now suspect libxcb but so far haven't been able to prove it.

  An example /var/log/installer/debug log from a session where both
  crashes were triggered is below.

  in x, the entire systemd seccomp code is completely different and the

  Hi,
  for 3 days our CI pipelines to recreate Docker images fails for the Hirsute
images. From comparison this seems to be caused by apt 2.1.20.

  The build

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1921626] Re: apt install - File has unexpected size - http pipeline

2021-04-08 Thread Julian Andres Klode
I tracked it down further today, accidentally finding a reproducer. In
methods/http.cc we check for Req.DownloadSize > Req.MaximumSize and fail
with an error if that's the case; hence ensuring our download was within
the allowed range for the request.

The issue is that Req.MaximumSize is calculated by
BaseHttpMethod::FindMaximumObjectSizeInQueue as the maximum of all
maximum sizes in the queue; and requests with unknown sizes are encoded
as 0, so FindMaximumObjectSizeInQueue() will return any other size that
is not 0, despite the 0 meaning "unknown". The fix is to return 0 if any
maximum size is 0.

  1) Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS

  2) apt 1.6.12ubuntu0.2

  3) What you expected to happen

  I set a custom set of repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list and then I
  run "apt install ". I expect the command to download
  and install the packages.

  4) What happened instead

  "apt install ..." fails during the download phase with "File has
  unexpected size "

  5) What I've established trying to debug the issue:

  - Disabling http pipelining resolves the issue: "apt
-oAcquire::http::Pipeline-Depth=0 install ..."
  - All the packages, and repo metadata in the referenced repositories is
correct
  - The issue is easily reproducible in my setup with different repositories
  - tcpdump shows that requests and responses are in the correct order, and
contain the correct data

  More details about the issue:
  https://projects.theforeman.org/issues/32178

  With all the above in mind, it appears that this must be a bug in apt's http
pipeline handling.
  It seem that apt is trying to match a request to do wrong response, and size
doesn't match.

  I've attached an example log, where the error pops up for multiple
  packages, and they all appear to be compared to one size (86464
  bytes). That size is correct for one of the package being downloaded,
  but somehow apt is trying to match to multiple other packages.

  ### bad but common work around
  Solutions I found in different forums were to move lightdm-guest-session into
complain mode like this:
  `aa-complain /usr/lib/lightdm/lightdm-guest-session`
  ### maybe better sollution:
  My fix would be to add this to `/etc/apparmor.d/lightdm-guest-session`:
  ```
  ...
  /usr/lib/lightdm/lightdm-guest-session {
  ...
owner /run/user/[0-9]*/ICEauthority-? l,`
  ...
  }
  ```
  I honestly have no clue about apparmor and I'm unsure where to post this but
I hope this maybe helps some other people in the future.

  [Impact]

- Users who have ulimit set high would see either slow
  or failed pgrep and pkill commands
- Users who have ulimit set to unlimited would see
  failed pgrep and pkill commands
- This bug occurs because the behavior of sysconf(_SC_ARG_MAX)
  changed with a newer version of the kernel.

  [Test Case]

- set the ulimit to unlimited by running `ulimit -S -s unlimited`
- run `pgrep bash` to see that the "cannot allocate" error is
   printed and the command has failed.

  [Where Problems Could Occur]

- We have set upper and lower limits on the size of the malloc, but
  if further kernel versions break the call to sysconf in
  unexpected ways we could still see problems.

  [Original Description]

  If you have no stack limit (ulimit -S -s unlimited), any pgrep call
  will fail with an error:

  > pgrep vim
  pgrep: cannot allocate 4611686018427387903 bytes

  If you have a high stack limit (e.g. ulimit -S -s 50), pgrep is
  very slow:

But there was a build issue (timeout) on riscv64 which didn't happen on

   * A packaging error in the current version has led library symlinks
 to be broken and in the wrong place.

   * Fix by applying the later change to Groovy as well

  [Test Plan]

   * install libnss3
   * check (path depends on the architecture) the lib links
 $ dpkg -L libnss3 | grep MULTIARCH
 # ^^ should be empty
 $ ll /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfreebl3.so
 # vv should look like that:

  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 Feb 16 15:18
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfreebl3.so -> nss/libfreebl3.so
  root@h:~# ll /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfreebl*
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Feb 16 15:18
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfreebl3.chk -> nss/libfreebl3.chk
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 Feb 16 15:18
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfreebl3.so -> nss/libfreebl3.so
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Feb 16 15:18
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfreeblpriv3.chk -> nss/libfreeblpriv3.chk
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 Feb 16 15:18
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfreeblpriv3.so -> nss/libfreeblpriv3.so

  [Where problems could occur]

   * I first was afraid, that no matter how bad the paths would
 have been we'd need to retain them for anyone using them
 already. But the existing links go into nowhere since they
 are relative therefore the regression risk should be minimal

  root@g:~# ll '/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/libfreebl3.so'
'/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/libfreeblpriv3.so'
'/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/libfreebl3.chk'
'/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/libfreeblpriv3.chk'
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Sep 29  2020
'/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/libfreebl3.chk' -> nss/libfreebl3.chk
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 Sep 29  2020
'/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/libfreebl3.so' -> nss/libfreebl3.so
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Sep 29  2020
'/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/libfreeblpriv3.chk' -> nss/libfreeblpriv3.chk
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 Sep 29  2020
'/usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}/libfreeblpriv3.so' -> nss/libfreeblpriv3.so

   * never the less, to be clear - if problems occur they would be in
 loading these libraries. E.g. a user could have had this package
 and a self built nss on his system, after the change it might load the
 packaged one.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1916485] Re: test -x fails inside shell scripts in containers

2021-04-08 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
I see verification of runc in comment #37 for all series - but groovy
isn't marked as verified. Is there anything missing in the verification?
Or can we release runc for groovy safely?

Bug description:
  (SRU template for systemd)

  [impact]

  bash (and some other shells) builtin test command -x operation fails

  [test case]

  on any affected host system, start nspawn container, e.g.:

  $ sudo apt install systemd-container
  $ wget
https://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/hirsute/current/hirsute-server-cloudimg-amd64-root.tar.xz
  $ mkdir h
  $ cd h
  $ tar xvf ../hirsute-server-cloudimg-amd64-root.tar.xz
  $ sudo systemd-nspawn

  Then from a bash shell, verify if test -x works:

  root@h:~# ls -l /usr/bin/gpg
  -rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 1000 1083472 Jan 16 09:53 /usr/bin/gpg
  root@h:~# test -x /usr/bin/gpg || echo "fail"
  fail

  [regression potential]

  any regression would likely occur during a syscall, most likely
  faccessat2(), or during other syscalls.

  [scope]

  this is needed for b/f

  this is fixed upstream by commit
  bcf08acbffdee0d6360d3c31d268e73d0623e5dc which is in 247 and later, so
  this is fixed in h

  this was pulled into Debian at version 246.2 in commit
  e80c5e5371ab77792bae94e0f8c5e85a4237e6eb, so this is fixed in g

  in x, the entire systemd seccomp code is completely different and the
  patch doesn't apply, nor does it appear to be needed, as the problem
  doesn't reproduce in a h container under x.

  [other info]

  this needs fixing in libseccomp as well

  [original description]

  glibc regression causes test -x to fail inside scripts inside
  docker/podman, dash and bash are broken, mksh and zsh are fine:

  root@0df2ce5d7a46:/# test -x /usr/bin/gpg || echo Fail
  root@0df2ce5d7a46:/# dash -c "test -x /usr/bin/gpg || echo Fail"
  Fail
  root@0df2ce5d7a46:/# bash -c "test -x /usr/bin/gpg || echo Fail"
  Fail
  root@0df2ce5d7a46:/# mksh -c "test -x /usr/bin/gpg || echo Fail"
  root@0df2ce5d7a46:/# zsh -c "test -x /usr/bin/gpg || echo Fail"
  root@0df2ce5d7a46:/#

  root@0df2ce5d7a46:/# zsh -c "[ -x /usr/bin/gpg ] || echo Fail"
  root@0df2ce5d7a46:/# mksh -c "[ -x /usr/bin/gpg ] || echo Fail"
  root@0df2ce5d7a46:/# dash -c "[ -x /usr/bin/gpg ] || echo Fail"
  Fail
  root@0df2ce5d7a46:/# bash -c "[ -x /usr/bin/gpg ] || echo Fail"
  Fail

  The -f flag works, as does /usr/bin/test:
  # bash -c "test -f /usr/bin/gpg  || echo Fail"
  # bash -c "/usr/bin/test -x /usr/bin/gpg  || echo Fail"
  #

I tested procps/groovy-proposed,now 2:3.3.16-5ubuntu2.1 amd64. I have
repeated pgrep and pkill commands that caused the bug before. They do
work with the proposed package.

Bug description:

  If you have a high stack limit (e.g. ulimit -S -s 50), pgrep is
  very slow:

  > time pgrep vim
  2196

  "Cmedia Audio" is the sound card name of this usb audio dongle, and this
string is got from usb string descriptor, that is to say the "Cmedia Audio" is
hard-coded in the firmware of that usb dongle.
  Not all Cmedia usb audio dongle use "Cmedia Audio", most of the dongles don't
set string descriptor, then the audio driver sets a generic name "USB Audio
Device" for them, if a dongle has string descriptor, it may have different
string like "C-Media USB Headphone Set", and all dongles I met before don't
have SPDIF interface.
  So If this SRU could introduce regression, it will happen on a Cmedia usb
audio dongle which also hard-codes the "Cmedia Audio" in the string descriptor
and it has SPDIF interface on it, after this SRU, users couldn't find the SPDIF
playback device from the gnome-sound-setting. But this regression chance is
very low since it is very rare a cmedia usb audio dongle uses "Cmedia Audio" in
the string descriptor and it is very rare a usb audio dongle has SPDIF
interface. So far we haven't met such a cmedia usb audio dongle.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1922414] Re: ssh-agent fails to start (has_option: command not found)

2021-04-08 Thread Achim Settelmeier
As a workaround, I created the file 01x11-has_option (find it attached)
and placed it in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/. It defines has_option unless it
is already defined somewhere else. ssh-agent now runs in the background
on startup again.

** Attachment added: "/etc/X11/Xsession.d/01x11-has_option"
