[Touch-packages] [Bug 1926256] Re: Pasted text in the terminal is always highlighted and selected

2022-02-01 Thread Norbert
The temporary workaround is

echo "set enable-bracketed-paste Off" > ~/.inputrc

For better user experience this file should be placed into `/etc/shel` on the
installation stage. So I'll mark base-files package as affected.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1152754] Re: kwin fails to resize to fit to the NX window with this version of libxfixes3

2022-02-01 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu.

Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017.

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested
in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the
latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still
present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling
us which new version it is in.

Title:
kwin fails to resize to fit to the NX window with this version of
  libxfixes3

Status in libxfixes package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
We use KDE under NX, and were happy to discover that the new libxrandr
proposed in this bug-report:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/libxrandr/+bug/985202

fixes the issue of kwin crashing when the NX window resizes.

However, we now discover that it does not resize to fit the NX window
either when the NX window is resized. Please see the attached
screenshot for an example of what happens.

However, there is a relatively easy workaround for this issue which
unfortunately involves downgrading libxfixes3 to the version from Oneiric.
Specifically, the package one needs to get is:
  http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric/libxfixes3

The version numbers of the two packages are very close, so I decided
to look at the diff between the sources for Oneiric and Precise, and I
discovered that the only source-code difference is one patch which was
added to Precise (which I'm also attaching). Something in that patch
is what breaks the ability of kwin to resize to fit the NX window.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!

  Sincerely,
  Iordan

QTNX for 12.04 too old to connect to server

Status in libxfixes package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  Hi -

My remote server is the NEATX flavour of NoMachine's nxserver. It
happens to be a gentoo machine, and the NEATX version reports as
  "Version 3.3.0 - GPL".

Unfortunately, the QTNX client supplied/installed from Ubuntu Software
  Centre reports as "Version 3.0.0".

While NoMachine's web-site has more-recent clients, there is *nothing*
for the PowerPC architecture (I'm running 12.04LTS on a PowerBook G4
  laptop).

My request is for a PPC version of QTNX = 3.3.0.

  Thank-you

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1933491] Autopkgtest regression report (kmod/27-1ubuntu2.1)

2022-02-01 Thread Ubuntu SRU Bot
All autopkgtests for the newly accepted kmod (27-1ubuntu2.1) for focal have
finished running.
The following regressions have been reported in tests triggered by the package:

linux-aws-5.11/5.11.0-1028.31~20.04.1 (amd64)
linux-aws-5.8/5.8.0-1042.44~20.04.1 (amd64)
initramfs-tools/0.136ubuntu6.6 (amd64)
linux-azure-5.8/5.8.0-1043.46~20.04.1 (amd64)
linux-gcp-5.8/5.8.0-1039.41 (amd64)

Please visit the excuses page listed below and investigate the failures,
proceeding afterwards as per the StableReleaseUpdates policy regarding
autopkgtest regressions [1].

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * To safe diskspace, upcoming devel series / hwe kernels may turn on
zstd kernel module compression. Kmod since impish support zstd
support. But in order to keep hwe kernels at parity, or allow
inspecting jammy modules from focal host, it would be beneficial for
kmod in focal to support zstd compressed modules.

  [Test Plan]

   * Pick any kernel module

   * Compress it with zstd: $ zstd *.ko

   * Check that modinfo can read it: $ modinfo *.ko.zst

  [Where problems could occur]

   * kmod will gain a new dependecy on libzstd1, however it should
already be present, because dpkg in focal depends on libzstd1 already.

   * initramfs-tools already supports compressed modules, but in focal
at the moment it does so in an inefficient manner (regresses
bootspeed), this has been improved in
  https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/0.140ubuntu8 and
is yet to be SRUed into Focal.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1959695] Re: [amdgpu] Black screen with flashing horizontal lines

2022-02-01 Thread Daniel van Vugt

** Summary changed:

- Xorg crash
+ [amdgpu] Black screen with flashing horizontal lines

** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu)

Title:
[amdgpu] Black screen with flashing horizontal lines

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:

ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa"

-Respecto al ultimo problema intente solucionarlo con
  "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi=force apm=power_off""

  Nada de lo anterior funciono.

  Agradezco la atención.

Desktop Icons NG appear out of place when changing workspace

Status in gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons-ng package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When changing workspace all icons on the desktop are moved to the
front providing a really weird experience when changing workspace.

I uploaded a gif that shows the behaviour if I have a gedit open and
  I change workspace.

  # Expected behaviour

The icons only show up if they are in a "visible state", with no
  windows in front of them.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1959725] [NEW] Segfault from Native.sd_journal_get_fd

2022-02-01 Thread Blake Rouse
Public bug reported:

The version of libsystemd0 Ubuntu 20.04 has the following issue present
in the package:

https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/15528

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1931582] Re: Add LOGO to /etc/os-release

2022-02-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
I meant it's unclear if what sort of logo it should be. Square image
only? Text+logo as on plymouth? The GNOME settings upstream discussion
mention text and black variants...

After discussing with Robert it seems that's intended for the 'simple'
logo, so squared icon. Unsure if the variants are standardized but the
GNOME ticket lists logo-text/logo-dark/logo-text-dark so maybe should
also be provided

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1933491] Re: kmod add zstd support

2022-02-01 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Dimitri, or anyone else affected,

Accepted kmod into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kmod/27-1ubuntu2.1 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

** Changed in: kmod (Ubuntu Focal)
   Status: New => Fix Committed

** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-focal

   * To safe diskspace, upcoming devel series / hwe kernels may turn on
zstd kernel module compression. Kmod since impish support zstd
support. But in order to keep hwe kernels at parity, or allow
inspecting jammy modules from focal host, it would be beneficial for
kmod in focal to support zstd compressed modules.

  [Test Plan]

   * Pick any kernel module

Bug description:
  [Impact]

Some 4G/5G mobile networks(for ex., AT) requires a specific MTU
setting, this setting will be exposed by the ModemManager for network-
manger to configure the MTU of the modem network interface .

The current network-manager v1.22.10-1ubuntu2.2  in focal can’t pass
  AT’s modem system certification.

  [Fix]

This upstream patch can resolve this bug:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/merge_requests/499/diffs?commit_id=212758ea05a4c13d65f36b55c90aee7919642631

  [Test Plan]

  1. Use a Lenovo platform SE30 including 4G Quectel EM160 modem and an
  AT SIM card in US

  2. Enable 4G modem and connect to AT apn

  $ sudo mmcli -i 0 --pin=
$ sudo mmcli --modem 0 --enable
  $ sudo mmcli -m 0 --simple-connect="pin=,apn=emome"
$ sudo nmcli radio wwan on
$ sudo nmcli connection add type gsm ifname wwan0p2MBIM con-name mymodem apn
emome
$ sudo nmcli connection up id mymodem

  3. Check if the MTU got from the following results are the same:

  $ sudo mmcli --bearer 5 | mtu
  $ ifconfig mhi_mbim0 | grep mtu

  * Expected result:
Both MTUs are the same value 1430
  * Actual tested result:
Different values (one is 1430 , another is 1500)

  [Where problems could occur]

  Very low.
This is a simple fix: network-manager gets the MTU from the ModemManager then
sets the MTU of the modem interface.

  [Other info]

  1. Network-manager v1.30.0-1ubuntu3 in hirsute has included the fix.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1958019]

2022-02-01 Thread nick
Hello again,

I've tried compiling kernel 5.17-rc2 (and rc1) now that the patches have
been merged and I still can't get any audio on my Legion 7 16achg6.

The modules snd_hda_scodec_cs35l41_i2c and snd_hda_scodec_cs35l41 seem
to have loaded properly so I'm not sure what the problem is. I have
tried both PipeWire (my current choice) and PulseAudio, and neither
worked.

A patch also exists for my device's subsystem id:

cat /sys/bus/hdaudio/devices/hdaudioC1D0/subsystem_id
0x17aa3847

patch_realtek.c:9131:
SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x17aa, 0x3847, "Legion 7 16ACHG6", ALC287_FIXUP_LEGION_16ACHG6),

I can confirm that this isn't an isolated case since someone left a
comment on a blog post I made confirming that he's also having trouble.

Any support would be appreciated!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1959695] [NEW] Xorg crash

2022-02-01 Thread Pedro David Lopez Mendoza
Public bug reported:

ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa"

-Respecto al ultimo problema intente solucionarlo con
"GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi=force apm=power_off""

Nada de lo anterior funciono.

Agradezco la atención.

Public bug reported:

Upower takes a relatively long time to refresh my laptop power state. It

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1933491] Re: kmod add zstd support

2022-02-01 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
@sil2100

--disable-test-modules \

 override_dh_auto_test:
+ dh_auto_test --builddir=build-deb

are needed together to enable building and running unittests during
build.

Note previously focal builds did not run unittests at all.

The autoconf help text for the option says "disable building test
modules during make check: cached modules will be used". What it means
use the prebuilt kernel modules from the orig tarball for unittests,
which works in launchpad builders. Without this option an attempt is
made to rebuild test modules for the currently running kernel which is
not possible or useful in launchpad. Installing linux-generic-headers
and forcing the build for the current kernel in a given series is
another alternative, but also not too sure if that is useful given
prebuilt known/working modules for unittests are available.

  [Test Plan]

   * Pick any kernel module

2022-02-01 Thread Toto Bille
Public bug reported:

When changing workspace all icons on the desktop are moved to the front
providing a really weird experience when changing workspace.

I uploaded a gif that shows the behaviour if I have a gedit open and I
change workspace.

https://assets.ubuntu.com/v1/84983112-Peek+2022-02-01+10-18.gif

# Expected behaviour

The icons only show up if they are in a "visible state", with no windows
in front of them.
