openjdk-lts/11.0.16+8-0ubuntu1~22.04 (armhf)
booth/1.0-237-gdd88847-4ubuntu2.2 (s390x)
mysql-8.0/8.0.30-0ubuntu0.22.04.1 (amd64)
cluster-glue/1.0.12-20ubuntu3 (ppc64el)
rspamd/2.7-1build2 (amd64)
libbio-samtools-perl/1.43-3build2 (s390x)
casync/2+20201210-1build1 (ppc64el)
bedtools/2.30.0+dfsg-2 (s390x)

Please visit the excuses page listed below and investigate the failures,

Bug description:
  SRU Justification:
  ==

  [Impact]

  * zlib: compressBound() returns an incorrect result on IBM z15
  hardware.

  * Passing the result of compressBound() to compress() results
    in an error code.

  * This is because compressBound() is not adjusted for DFLTCC.

  [Fix]

  * Adjust compressBound() for DFLTCC like it's already done
    for deflateBound().

  * Since zlib project does not accept patches at the moment,
    the fix has been integrated into the DFLTCC pull request:
    https://github.com/madler/zlib/pull/410
    The commitid is b25781e735363e04f6c56e21431c47e4afc50b17.

  * The fix extracted out of the above is:

https://launchpadlibrarian.net/589857296/debdiff_zlib_1.2.11.dfsg-2ubuntu7_to_zlib_1.2.11.dfsg-2ubuntu8_jammy.diff

  * On top of this actual zlib fix, there is another patch needed:
   'Remove compressBound assertions. (PR #1258)' for htslib.

  * But there is a standalone 'htslib' package version, as well as a
htslib version included in (some) 'bedtools' packages.
Both need to be patched (see '[Other]' for more details).

  [Test Plan]

  * An IBM z15 system (LPAR, z/VM guest or KVM virtual machine)
    with Ubuntu Server 21.10 (or 22.04).

  * A test can be done based on the following C test program:
    #include
    #include
    #include
    int main() {
    Bytef in_buf[128], out_buf[1024];
    for (size_t i = 0; i < sizeof(in_buf); i++)

    assert(ret == Z_OK);
    }

  * The test needs to be done by IBM, due to the requirements
    for the special z15 hardware.

  * A successful test was just completed, based on the version in jammy-
  proposed, which is at the same code level that the impish version this
  SRU is targeted for.

  [Where problems could occur]

  * If the adjustment of compressBound() for DFLTCC is done
    erroneously the issue can still be present or in worst case
    even affect Z systems other than z15 only.

  * The compression can become errorneous with the new changes,
    e.g. in compressBound.

  * Mistakes in dfltcc_free_window OF and especially DEFLATE_BOUND_COMPLEN,
    (incl. the bit definitions), may cause various and unforseen defects.

  * Any build time issues that might have been introduced by this patch
    can be identified by a test build; this was done and is available here:
    https://launchpad.net/~fheimes/+archive/ubuntu/lp1961427

  [Other Info]

  * Ubuntu jammy, impish and focal are affected by the zlib issue.

  * The 'htslib' version '1.13+ds' (as it is part of I, J and K),
already includes the patch,
hence only htslib '1.10.2' in focal needs to be patched.

  * The bedtools version '2.30.0+dfsg' (as it is part of I, J and K),
requires the patch,
but version '2.27.1+dfsg' bedtools in focal does not incl. an
embedded htslib, hence does not need to be (actually can't be)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1972790] Re: Can't connect to hotspot created on ubuntu

2022-08-13 Thread John Pietrzak
I seem to be suffering from the same issue after upgrading to 22.04.1,
but only on one device. My OnePlus Nord N10 (running Android 11) fails
to connect to the Ubuntu hotspot, showing the message WPA3 (SAE
Transition Mode). However, my iPad Pro (iOS 15.6) and my Roku (11.0.0)
have no trouble connecting to the hotspot.

The iPad and the Roku are both ancient, but the Nord is a fairly recent
device.

Title:
  Can't connect to hotspot created on ubuntu

Status in wpa package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  We currently have older systems (18.04) with hotspot's and we will migrate to
22.04.
  Anything work's fine, expect the hotspot.
  The Hotspot will be created and is visible in the WLAN-List, but if the
security is set to "WPA & WPA2 Personal" we get the error message "Failed to
connect to the network".
  If we change the Security to "WPA3 Personal" we get the error message
"Invalid Password", even if the password is correct.
  As soon we remove the security (change it to "none"), we can connect with out
any problems.

  We can reproduce it with a fresh installtion of the Ubuntu Server
  22.04 and the following two commands:

  apt install network-manager

  nmcli c add type wifi ifname wlp3s0 con-name Hotspot autoconnect yes
  ssid test-ap 802-11-wireless.mode ap 802-11-wireless.band bg
  802-11-wireless.mac-address "80:45:dd:f0:27:ba" wifi-sec.group ccmp
  wifi-sec.key-mgmt wpa-psk wifi-sec.pairwise ccmp wifi-sec.proto rsn
  wifi-sec.psk "test12345" ipv4.addresses 192.168.60.1/24 ipv4.method
  shared && nmcli connection up Hotspot

  We thought it could be similar to this issue:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa/+bug/1958267
  Because if we test it with 20.04 it worked fine, because 20.04 uses the
Version 2:2.9.0-21build1 as described in the Ticket.

  As @Sebastian Bacher suggested
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa/+bug/1958267/comments/58), i
created a own report.
  In the attachment is the requested log file.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1954716] Re: rpi nfsroot vers=4 not supported anymore?

2022-08-13 Thread Stephen Winnall
Whilst trying to understand the problem I looked at the source of
nfsmount in klibc. Nfsmount has a switch statement in which it checks
the value of nfsvers and only proceeds if it is 2 or 3. Given that my
version of nfsmount, compiled with klcc, can indeed mount using NFSv4 I
suspect that in libc's version the switch statement only needs to be
extended with the cases 4, 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2. It's not entirely trivial,
but it's hard to understand why it hasn't been done sometime during the
last 15 years.

I may take a closer look when I've fixed my next bug.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1954716] Re: rpi nfsroot vers=4 not supported anymore?

2022-08-13 Thread Stephen Winnall
Done it! I've managed to boot my RPi4 with Ubuntu Jammy off an NFSv4
share using the workaround from https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=409272#14 .

I created the file in the attachment and compiled it with klcc. If
anyone else wants to use it they'll have to edit the file, put their own
share address in, and recompile.

I then copied the file to /usr/lib/klibc/bin/nfsmount, replacing the
version installed with Ubuntu.

After that I ran update-initramfs -u (ignoring the errors - update-
initramfs seems blissfully unaware of network booting with NFS of any
flavour).

After ensuring that /boot/initrd.img did in fact contain my version of
nfsmount (lsinitramfs -l /boot/initrd.img) I rebooted the RPi. It came
up so cleanly that I thought I must have made a mistake :-)

But df -hT showed that the root was mounted with NFSv4. Now for the next
problem... :-)

NFS booting from NFSv4 share hardwired in file"

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  It has been detected that some modprobe services fail on UC22 after
  the jammy upgrade  249.11-0ubuntu3.4:

  $ systemctl --system --no-ask-password --no-pager list-units --state=failed
  Failed units:
UNIT LOAD   ACTIVE SUBDESCRIPTION
  ● modprobe@chromeos_pstore.service loaded failed failed Load Kernel Module
chromeos_pstore
  ● modprobe@efi_pstore.service loaded failed failed Load Kernel Module

  ● modprobe@mtdpstore.service loaded failed failed Load Kernel Module
mtdpstore
  ● modprobe@pstore_blk.service loaded failed failed Load Kernel Module
pstore_blk
  ● modprobe@pstore_zone.service loaded failed failed Load Kernel Module
pstore_zone
  ● modprobe@ramoops.service loaded failed failed Load Kernel Module
ramoops

  This happens because of some changes to systemd-pstore.service that
  now has:

  After=modprobe@efi_pstore.service modprobe@mtdpstore.service
modprobe@chromeos_pstore.service modprobe@ramoops.service
modprobe@pstore_zone.service modprobe@pstore_blk.service
  Wants=modprobe@efi_pstore.service modprobe@mtdpstore.service
modprobe@chromeos_pstore.service modprobe@ramoops.service
modprobe@pstore_zone.service modprobe@pstore_blk.service

  This causes too many tries of the modprobe services, that fail in the
  end with

  Jul 20 09:02:39 ubuntu systemd[1]: modprobe@chromeos_pstore.service:
  Start request repeated too quickly.

  Although we have seen this only on UC22, it potentially can affect
  classic systems as well, as systemd-pstore.service is re-tried there a
  few times too. See https://github.com/snapcore/core-base/issues/72 for
  more details.

  A fix for this is available upstream:

https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/9625350e5381a68c1179ae4581e7586c206663e1

  [Test Plan]

  Start the device and check that there is no modprobe-pstore related
  failed service. This is racy, so a few tries will be needed to make
  sure things are fine.

  [Where problems could occur]

  The modprobe services are usually dependencies from other services, so
  it should be fine if the retry behavior is controlled by those other
  services. Risk should be small. If something goes wrong we might see a
  lot of restarts for these services.

  [Other Info]

  Testing should happen on UC22 too.

Title:
  LUKS-encrypted partition is not automatically unlocked during the boot
  process with a fido2 key

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  ubuntu 22.04
  systemd 249.11-0ubuntu3.4

  The partition is encrypted with luks2 and a fido2 key has been enrolled.with:
  systemd-cryptenroll --fido2-device=auto /dev/

  /etc/crypttab has been setup with:
   LABEL= none fido2-device=auto

  /etc/fstab has been setup with:
  /dev/mapper/ /media/ ext4 defaults,nofail 0 0

  After the boot is complete, the partition has not been unlocked
  despite the fido2 key being present during the whole boot process.

  Also, a manual unlock works with:
  /lib/systemd/systemd-cryptsetup attach  /dev/ none
fido2-device=auto
  Set cipher aes, mode xts-plain64, key size 256 bits for device /dev/
  Automatically discovered security FIDO2 token unlocks volume.
  Asking FIDO2 token for authentication.
   Please confirm presence on security token to unlock.

  How to automatically unlock the partition at boot?
