[Touch-packages] [Bug 1574746] Re: Enable support for libsoxr

2018-10-10 Thread
It is 2018-10-11, and it hasn't been done since 2016-04-25

Title:
  Enable support for libsoxr

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
I'd like to ask to enable support for libsoxr-based resamplers in the
official Ubuntu packages for pulseaudio. The upstream already supports libsoxr
and automatically detects its availability, so the only change really needed is
to add the build dependency to debian/control.

The resamplers based in libsoxr offer better quality and better performace
while introducing more delay compared to the speex resamplers that are used by
default. The resamplers are documented in the man pages of pulseaudio in Ubuntu
16.04 but unfortunately are not enabled at build time ('pulseaudio
--dump-resample-methods' doesn't list them). I've built local packages with
libsoxr and verified that the resampler works as expected.

just realize that fonts-noto-cjk is available in the repository, finally its
packaged.
i don't really know about korean community.
But for Chinese and Japanese community, i think that the answer is clear.
noto-cjk is definitely better what we had before, like fonts- wqy and
fonts-droid.
Android community had received these complains for years, finally they got
them fixed on lollipop.
Fedora also set it as default chinese font start from F21.
and of course, i still hope that ubuntu could drop those 69-language-selector
fontconfig files, just like what F13 did.

Is Source Han Sans (Noto Sans) going to be the default fonts in Ubuntu 16.04?
If it is true, it will be nice.
