The approach suggested here appears to have been implemented in Xenial
(Ubuntu 16.04).

After adding the Ansible PPA, I have a file
`/etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/ansible_ubuntu_ansible.gpg`. I can also see the
Ansible key is not included in the output of:

gpg --list-keys --no-default-keyring --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg

   Add PPA keys to /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/{owner}-{ppa}.gpg

Title:
  keys in trusted.gpg

Status in software-properties package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The apt-add-repository adds a new file in /etc/apt/sources.list.d and
adds the key into /etc/apt/trusted.gpg file. Why does it not use
  /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d dir?
