Sorry I can't be of more help but can upload more current logs if of any use. ** Attachment added: "Xorg0_log.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1704660/+attachment/5056567/+files/Xorg0_log.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1704660 Title: Xorg freeze Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Using two monitors: 1. LOL... 7 years for a response to a bug talking about how a new release broke something. Sounds about right. FYI, you'd be better off silently closing things like this. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1490349] Re: 15:10 and 16.04: bluetoothd reports "Not enough handles to register service" at start
I just tried running the command to turn off le when connected to a device and I got the same message 'status 0x0a (Busy)' so perhaps you are already connected to something. My suggestion is to unpair all devices (if you have any paired) and running the command: rfkill block bluetooth That command soft blocks the bluetooth adapter - so it won't be able to attempt any connections. After is it blocked try running the le commannd again (sudo btmgmt le off) Then unblock the bluetooth adapter by: rfkill unblock bluetooth. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1490349 Title: 15:10 and 16.04: bluetoothd reports "Not enough handles to register service" at start Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: On 15:10 after the bluetooth service has been stopped and restarted it is not possible to scan or connect to devices: $ sudo systemctl start bluetooth $ journalctl --unit=bluetooth | tail -n 19 | awk '{$1="";$2="";$4="";print $0}' 23:31:53 systemd[1]: Starting Bluetooth service... 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Bluetooth daemon 5.33 23:31:53 systemd[1]: Started Bluetooth service. 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Starting SDP server 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Bluetooth management interface 1.9 initialized 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Failed to obtain handles for "Service Changed" characteristic 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Not enough free handles to register service 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Error adding Link Loss service 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Not enough free handles to register service 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Not enough free handles to register service 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Not enough free handles to register service 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Current Time Service could not be registered 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: gatt-time-server: Input/output error (5) 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Not enough free handles to register service 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Not enough free handles to register service 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Sap driver initialization failed. 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: sap-server: Operation not permitted (1) 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.440 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSource 23:31:53 bluetoothd[16647]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.440 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSink And $ bluetoothctl [NEW] Controller 00:1F:3A:E0:0A:AF hephaestion.lan.iam.tj [default] [NEW] Device 00:0A:95:4B:BD:C2 Apple Wireless Keyboard [NEW] Device 00:07:61:3B:86:98 Bluetooth Travel Mouse [bluetooth]# scan on Failed to start discovery: org.bluez.Error.NotReady To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1490349/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1490349] Re: 15:10 and 16.04: bluetoothd reports "Not enough handles to register service" at start
@aromo Similar issue, couldn't connect UE Boom speaker was just getting 'Unable to register GATT service with handle 0x0001'. Found it strange that even when the speaker was powered down bluetoothd kept trying to connect (and disconnect seconds later) What I found was, UE Boom speakers can be powered on remotely using the mobile application - which is done through Bluetooth LE. This is why the speaker was connected even when powered-down because of it was connected via LE. I could be wrong but I believe the GATT service manages the messages from LE devices - So I tried disabling Bluetooth Low Energy on the laptop bluetooth adaptor through this command: sudo btmgmt le off Unpaired the speaker, restarted the laptop and afterwards I had no more "Unable to Register GATT" or "Device is already marked connected messages" and I was able to connect the speaker through Audio Sink. Haven't had any issues with it since (except for having to run a2dp.py - but that is a separate issue) Perhaps you could try disabling le and see if it works for you too?
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1568429] Re: 1002:68b8 Radeon won't work with KMS enabled
Good news: I have a had a small eureka moment that results my computer fully booted with graphics hardware fully accelerated. Bad news: it is still a workaround -- I still can't push power button and boot up normally. Here is the workaround sequence -- it requires another computer that can ssh in: 1. Computer in OFF state, press power. 2. At boot select screen, press `e` and edit kernel line by appending `modprobe.blacklist=radeon` 3. Press `F10` to boot 4. At login screen, click gear icon in upper right and select `Suspend` 5. After computer is in suspended state, press any key to awaken. 6. The display does not "reawaken" and still appears off. 7. From another computer, ssh into the first. 8. Issue `sudo service lightdm stop` 9. Issue `sudo modprobe radeon`. This should succeed! \o/ 10. Issue `sudo service lightdm start` Now the computer should be using correct drm drivers and have full resolution display. Furthermore, Suspend and Wake work successfully. I discovered this using ubuntu mainline kernel 4.8.0-rc5 but have verified it works with mainline 4.8.6 and also with 4.4.0-45. Unfortunately, I am also using the oibaf/graphics-drivers PPA with more recent mesa and libdrm drivers. I plan to test again after removing the PPA but it may take a while. If anyone with this problem is still watching, I'd be curious to hear if my workaround steps work for you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568429 Title: 1002:68b8 Radeon won't work with KMS enabled Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: After upgrading to Xenial today and ensuring the xorg radeon driver was enabled, when booting both monitor lose signal input and the keyboard becomes unresponsive. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1568429] Re: 1002:68b8 Radeon won't work with KMS enabled
I'm still unable to boot following the linked directions by removing the vt_handoff, quiet, and splash kernel params and also setting gfxmode to "text". It follows nearly the same behavior black screen, constant hdd activity light on -- the monitor however still detects an input signal, it's just black. I can boot by using the linked method but also supplying radeon.modeset=0 flag. I'm attaching the dmesg log from that boot up. I'm assuming dmesg output is the "missing information" requested. If there is something else missing please let me know. ** Attachment added: "dmesg-debug.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1568429/+attachment/4706595/+files/dmesg-debug.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568429 Title: 1002:68b8 Radeon won't work with KMS enabled Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: After upgrading to Xenial today and ensuring the xorg radeon driver was enabled, when booting both monitor lose signal input and the keyboard becomes unresponsive. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1568429] Re: Radeon won't work with KMS enabled
Chistopher Penalver, it is hard to say as this is the first release where I can no longer use Catalyst -- I have been using the the binary drivers before this release. I remember my upgrading from 15.04 to 15.10 having a similar looking issue until I reinstalled the binary drivers. I never tried modesetting kernel parameters at that time so I can't say 100% if the error was the same. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568429 Title: Radeon won't work with KMS enabled Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have a Radeon HD 5770 GPU. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1568429] Re: Radeon won't work with KMS enabled
Is there anything more I can do to help debug this? In my latest attempt to get any useful information, I removed my usb keyboard in favor of a ps2 one. On boot and subsequent fail, the caps lock and scroll lock flash 10 times. I thought maybe getting a serial console going would help but this computer doesn't have a db9/rs232 port and it appears to be failing before the USB subsystem is initialized so USB serial console appears to be a no-go. I'm pretty new / green on debugging at this low a level, but I'm willing to give it a go if anyone has ideas to try... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568429 Title: Radeon won't work with KMS enabled Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have a Radeon HD 5770 GPU. Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1584356] Re: Difficulty with text selection in BQ M10 Tablet
Hi Pat, Thanks for such a fast reply. I don't want to sound negative because I'm thrilled Canonical and BQ are pushing into tablet / touch and convergence territory! This issue as I perceive it is that selecting text through portions of a mess like: 5G2sX.m0&j^g5D3(,M~dGt&^8hbv can seem impossible. My first experience of it was in trying to select a password out of a text passage in an email I had open in the GMail app. I was unable to select and copy that chunk of text out of the body of an email the other day. To verify the issue and clarify my perceptions I replicated the test today in the GMail app. Several issues seem to be at play: 1. The ability to select portions of a long complex string like the one above is very limited. The selected highlight jumps about - selecting too little then too much. 2. The "handles" with which to select are too small, making the use of them difficult. 3. Once I have a passage selected, and the passage may need to be more than I want because selection is imprecise, the "copy" function is grayed out - so I cannot use the selection. Using one of the "Notes" apps, selection is very fiddly and jumpy as above, but it does work, and the copy functionality is available. I am still concerned about the size of the handles and the lack of smooth responsiveness, but I am able to get it to work, but the experience is less than pleasant. So, I guess my most serious issues are in using the GMail app. A grayed out option is no option at all. And moody selection becomes a real user frustration. I apologize that I have no idea how to create a movie of the issues. I really want to see Ubuntu Touch and Linux in general gain ground and so am happy to answer any questions I have not communicated well on. I suspect much of what I speak of lies somewhere in a muddy area between bug fixes and design, especially the size of the selection handles. Size of controls is a UI problem. Does Canonical have a place to send UI thoughts about Ubuntu Touch? I suspect design issues are something of a distraction for you in working through real bugs. And yet I would like to be able to send any relevant thoughts where they could be helpful. Thanks again, Charlie Goodwin On Mon, May 23, 2016 at 8:30 AM, Pat McGowan wrote: > Is this in specific apps or in all cases? > it may be helpful to provide a video. > > ** Also affects: ubuntu-ui-toolkit (Ubuntu) >Importance: Undecided >Status: New > > ** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image >Status: New => Incomplete > > ** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image > Assignee: (unassigned) => Zoltan Balogh (bzoltan) > > -- > You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug > report. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1584356 > > Title: > Difficulty with text selection in BQ M10 Tablet > > Status in Canonical System Image: > Incomplete > Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: > New > > Bug description: > First bug report on M10 so forgive if I am doing anything wrong. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1568429] Re: Radeon won't work with KMS enabled
Yes, Catalyst has been the only driver that has been working for me so far. I don't believe the radeon driver was working before either, I remember having a similar problem when I upgraded to 15.10. Thanks for the debugging tip. However it didn't work. Immediately after running the modprobe command the screens go blank, lose signal input, and then after about 5 seconds the machine reboots. After logging in again, I found that dmesg didn't have a chance to pipe its output to the file either. Definitely seems to be a bug closer to the kernel / drm -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568429 Title: Radeon won't work with KMS enabled Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have a Radeon HD 5770 GPU. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1314095] Re: Unity Lockscreen in 14.04 can't unlock when using LDAP account
confirming on my setup as well. openstack VM (similar to amazon ec2) Running GDM3 (apt-get install gnome-shell) w/ NX Server to xorg-server-dummy package (since vm is headless) LDAP Authentication w/ SSSD Package Once I connect to the server, I am able to log in the first time using my ldap account. Also since i already have a home folder (PAM mkhomedir) my LDAP 'firstName' and 'lastName' actually show up on the GDM3 login screen. Which was a pleasant surprise. however, once locked. I'm getting the error in /var/log/auth.log: Jan 8 05:19:10 onr-geoserver gdm-password][12480]: pam_succeed_if(gdm-password:auth): requirement "user ingroup nopasswdlogin" not met by user "cott" Jan 8 05:19:17 onr-geoserver gdm-password][12480]: pam_unix(gdm-password:auth): authentication failure; logname=cott uid=0 euid=0 tty=:0 ruser= rhost= user=cott Jan 8 05:19:19 onr-geoserver gdm-password][12480]: pam_sss(gdm-password:auth): authentication success; logname=cott uid=0 euid=0 tty=:0 ruser= rhost= user=cott Jan 8 05:19:19 onr-geoserver gdm-password][12480]: gkr-pam: unlocked login keyring Jan 8 05:19:19 onr-geoserver systemd-logind[1359]: Removed session 3. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1400010] [NEW] mv fails to preserve COW on btrfs
Public bug reported: the /bin/mv command fails to preserve extended attributes, specifically the COW (lsattr; chattr +C) on btrfs, for both files and directories. Affects virtual machine images in VirtualBox which perform POORLY if hosted on btrfs without COW set. Workaround: 1. Set the folder to have the COW flag (chattr +C .) 2.
