[Touch-packages] [Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2017-07-10 Thread ComputersHowtoGeek
I'm posting this here merely because another bug page on launchpad says that
that thread,is actually a duplicate of this one, even though it seems it's not.
I'm on Peppermint, which is still ubuntu under the hood, all else works fine,
except from time to time, with no explanation, regardless of whether waking up
from a sleep session , or a full reboot, sometimes nm-applet loads fine,
sometimes it doesn't, and displays this as an error:
(nm-applet:2962): nm-applet-CRITICAL **: get_menu_item_for_ap: assertion
'dup_data.hash != NULL' failed

The laptop is dell i1720 - if it at all matters - and it's a Peppermint
7, with all currently known secure updates applied, and Xenial "under
the hood".

Can anyone please provide a fix, even an unofficial one ?
Thank you

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1576747] Re: Network manager applet unable to control wifi after suspend in 16.04

2017-07-10 Thread ComputersHowtoGeek
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1589401 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1589401

One year later (well, roughly), and Peppermint 7, same bug, happens only
sometimes, after logging in, doesn't matter whether it's from a suspended
session, or logged out fully, even after a complete reboot;
sometimes nm-applet loads without any error, sometimes it displays:
(nm-applet:2962): nm-applet-CRITICAL **: get_menu_item_for_ap: assertion
'dup_data.hash != NULL' failed

Any chance somebody has a fix for this ? I don't mind if it's an
unofficial fix, as long as it works. It delays my work a lot, and I'd
really like to fix this somehow.

Thank you

Title:
  Network manager applet unable to control wifi after suspend in 16.04

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  After resume from suspend network manager no longer allows me to
  control my wifi card, view available wireless networks, or select new
  ones. Oddly enough, I'm still able to communicate on the network that
  I was connected to prior to suspend.

  Running
  # sudo service network-manager restart
  resolves the issue until the next suspend/resume.

  I'll copy what I think is the relevant portion of syslog below
