[Touch-packages] [Bug 1916651] Re: asks about irc user home directory during upgrade

2021-06-22 Thread Donatas
Same for me when upgrading 20.10 to 21.04. I'm running i3wm window
manager with picom composition manager, if that's related in any way..

Title:
asks about irc user home directory during upgrade

Status in base-passwd package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in base-passwd source package in Hirsute:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Upgrading from groovy to hirsuite, base-passwd asks if the `irc`
user's home directory should be moved from `/var/run/ircd` to
`/run/ircd`. Having no IRC server installed makes this very
  confusing, but appears harmless
  (https://askubuntu.com/questions/876975/user-irc-inside-of-default-
  ubuntu-16-04-server). Possibly caused by https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=946884, but can this not prompt the user for a
  decision?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1443321] [NEW] Sharing a folder in Kubuntu asks for kpackagekit, which is long not available

2015-04-13 Thread Donatas Glodenis
Public bug reported:

When attempting to share a folder in Kubuntu Vivid freshly installed,
the system attempts to find executable kpackagekit in order to install
samba, and upon not finding it displays the corresponding error message.

The function to initiate install of missing dependencies directly from
"Share" tab of Folder settings used is working in Kubuntu 14.04.

A further issue is, that, even once I install samba using other means,
the sharing of folders does not work in case I share it only with
specific users (I did not test if it works if I make it public). If I
share a folder and specify that it is shared only for my user, I cannot
access the shared folder from network. To fix this situation I have to
create a samba user corresponding to my user by running in command line

sudo smbpasswd -a username

Then it starts working.

It should be trivial to fix this last issue, and this would mean a huge
usability improvement for Kubuntu.

** Affects: qtbase-opensource-src (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
