Public bug reported:

On 14.04 LTS,
the long-standing issue described in bug report 1581535 (libnl /
networkmanager) seems
to have appeared in the main update stream as a result of an update of libnl.
(libnl-3-200, libnl-route-3, libnl-genl-3) from version 3.2.21-1 to
3.2.21-1ubuntu1.
I do NOT have trusty-proposed updates enabled.
I am currently running network-manager 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.2

After the update - no wired or wireless network connections.

After manually configuring the wired connection, I successfully managed to
downgrade the libnl
changes using
sudo apt-get install libnl-3-200=3.2.21-1 libnl-route-3-200=3.2.21-1
libnl-genl-3-200=3.2.21-1
and restored normal network connectivity for both wired and wireless.
(I did the downgrade after some help from our IT guy to restore my wired
connection manually, so I'm not 100% sure whether the cache would have had the
necessary files to allow doing this downgrade with no internet connection.)

It seems to me that there needs to be a fix for both packages in the
standard release.

How do I update networkmanager? Or are there plans to ship that with the
normal updates?

   thanks for your help.
