[Touch-packages] [Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-10-23 Thread Joakim Koed
Sander: You don't need to have to file wifi-resume.service already..
nano will create it for you.. Just read what I wrote on askubuntu and do
that ;) it will work.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1574324] Re: pulseaudio crashes when connecting to bluetooth headphones (due to ubuntu changes?)

2016-10-22 Thread Joakim Koed
Ethan: This is NOT a upstream pulseaudio problem. The bug here is some
ubuntu-patches for unity8/phones (I think) had you read all the comments
and just not commenting, you would know that :)

Also Luke knows about 16.10 (its' like one comment before yours!)

Sorry for rant.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1574324] Re: pulseaudio crashes when connecting to bluetooth headphones (due to ubuntu changes?)

2016-10-15 Thread Joakim Koed
Luke: Should we open a new bug in regard to the profile switching bug? I
see something similar to #103 with your PPA.

I will personally continue to use my own ppa, and will probably publish
a version 4, when this pushes, so profile switching still works 100%,
until that other bug is resolved.

Thank you again. Great work figure out where in the patch the error
was/is.

Okay, so I can connect it just fine now, as A2DP still does not work.
When selecting it under sound settings, it just reverts back to another
audio source or not no sound coming out.

I think you need to look into the 03 patch as well maybe?

See if that will fix it :)

What happens is my PPA and Luke's are in conflict. So you can't see both

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1585863] Re: WiFi malfunction after suspend & resume stress - sudo wpa_cli scan required to fix it.

2016-09-17 Thread Joakim Koed
Thank you for the patches, glad there is some progress, since this
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1589401
seems to be "closed" now :/ - However, its now 20 days later, and I keep
seeing more and more people on askubuntu, IRC, reddit etc. have this
issue. How can we move forward?

I have just downloaded the network-manager packages from proposed and
build with fourdollars's xenial patch.

First two tries with a full reboot, it was showing up as a wifi
connection (no ethernet logo) but still no wifi networks in the nm-
applet list. Third try it was again showing up as a ethernet logo. So It
does not seem to be working.

So no luck. Feel free to ask me to test more patches, I can build myself
etc.

  Reproduce steps:
  1. Install fwts by `sudo apt-get install fwts`.
  2. Run the suspend & resume stress test.
  sudo fwts s3 --s3-multiple=30 --s3-min-delay=5 --s3-max-delay=5
--s3-delay-delta=5

  Expected result:
  The WiFi still functioned.

  Actual result:
The WiFi can not connect to any access point and we have to execute `sudo
wpa_cli scan` manually to make it work again.

P.S. Ubuntu 16.04 also has the same issue.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1574324] Re: pulseaudio crashes when connecting to bluetooth headphones (due to ubuntu changes?)

2016-09-15 Thread Joakim Koed
Yura, could you try to install all my packages again? Maybe you are
missing something?

Remember to run: sudo dpkg -i *.deb in the folder you extracted them
in.

You could apt search for all these, to make sure you have installed them
all:

libpulse0_8.0-0ubuntu3-vooze_amd64.deb
libpulsedsp_8.0-0ubuntu3-vooze_amd64.deb
libpulse-mainloop-glib0_8.0-0ubuntu3-vooze_amd64.deb
pulseaudio_8.0-0ubuntu3-vooze_amd64.deb
pulseaudio-module-bluetooth_8.0-0ubuntu3-vooze_amd64.deb
pulseaudio-module-x11_8.0-0ubuntu3-vooze_amd64.deb
pulseaudio-utils_8.0-0ubuntu3-vooze_amd64.deb

I'm not sure 100% exactly which 32bits you will need, maybe someone with
skype or something can check that :)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1618423] Re: Modesetting driver cannot handle different display resolutions for two monitors

Can also confirm this on Lenovo X1 carbon (2015) with newest BIOS. It
starts "flickering" and will often freeze after some time.

Title:
Modesetting driver cannot handle different display resolutions for two
  monitors

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have an external 1920x1080 monitor attached to my laptop, which has
a 3840x2160 display. When I run them both at their native resolutions,
the laptop display only works in the top quarter of the desktop,
except for the unity launcher and unity top bar. Anything that leaves
the top quarter leaves trails and flickers awfully (see attached
image, which shows everything except the flickering).

I also tried it with the laptop on 2560x1440 (I had to add it manually
because of a a separate bug where the modesetting driver limits the
max vertical refresh frequency of default modelines to 60 Hz) and
exactly the same thing happens (although the geometry isn't one
  quarter any more).

It works fine with the intel driver, but not the modesetting driver,
so it seems to be an xserver issue rather than a unity issue. It also
works fine if I set both monitors to 1920x1080.

The modesetting driver seems to struggle with setting resolutions.
When I first log into the desktop, it takes a good 5 seconds longer
than the intel driver to set up the screens, and for a while it looks
like I have a 640x480 screen (judging by the huge mouse pointer I
get). Given this bug and the vertical refresh bug, maybe yakkety
shouldn't default to the modesetting driver?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-08-28 Thread Joakim Koed
Peter: Thanks for trying. I run the same kernel etc. etc. but it keeps
happening for me.
Well, for me, it's not a big deal, since I just use my script from here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/761180/wifi-doesnt-work-after-suspend-after-16-04-upgrade/761220#761220
but for new users, it can be quite annoying.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-08-27 Thread Joakim Koed
I just tested with the new 1.2.2 network-manager from proposed. Same result.
Even tried creating a new user, same result.

Peter S:
Can you try the following:
- Reboot the machine and login.
- Then suspend, either by closing the lid or pressing the suspend in the menu.
(running suspend in terminal does not seem to be affected.)

The reason I want you to do this, is because of you restart network-
manager before suspending, it does not seem to make the ethernet-icon
appear.

Relevant: Is ubuntu using upstart to suspend, when pressing suspend and closing
the lid, instead of systemd-suspend? This could be the reason.

Hey Luke, Xenial is just fine :)

I just tested it, and it works perfectly. So it seems you are correct
about bluez5/ofono.

Feel free to upload another test if you wanna figure out which patch
exactly.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-08-12 Thread Joakim Koed
Okay new information.

If I restart network-manager right after booting (before suspend) I
can't reproduce.

So maybe make a script to delay network-mananger at boot with solve all
problems?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-08-10 Thread Joakim Koed
Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre:

I don't think you can expect all people affected by this (alot!, I have
probably helped 10 people on reddit, and many on askubuntu, see
http://askubuntu.com/questions/761180/wifi-doesnt-work-after-suspend-
after-16-04-upgrade/761220#761220)

That being said, I have some new information for you. Regarding this bug
(not the one with lockscreen!)

- I CAN'T reproduce with broadcom, seems you might be right about Intel wifi.
- With Intel I can reproduce right after a reboot with using suspend from menu
or losing the lid.
- sudo systemctl suspend does not seem to be affected. Strange as that is.

I have also downloaded all the new firmware drivers from kernel and put
in /var/lib/ it was messing quite a few, dmesg with errors. Same
problem.

Hope this helps you :)

Really don't want to upgrade to yekkety when that is released, but stay

Christian Heitjan, the hardware does one of the following things:

sudo modprobe -r wl; sudo modprobe wl
rfkill block wlan; rfkill unblock wlan

You need to:

sudo systemctl restart network-manager.service, since the bug is in
network manager and not the wifi card.

Okay guys and girls.. I have the solution...

The problem is all the ubuntu-touch patches applied to pulseaudio.. So
What I did what download pulseaudio8 from ubuntu archives and build it
without those patches..

The ones marked with # are not applied. It now works perfectly... I
don't have the patience, to try to patch all the rest one by one, to see
which one is affected, but you can certain it have something to do with
those patches..

I also had to delete some droid + store .install files for it to build.

Now the rest is up to ubuntu-devs to figure out what patch is broken. I
have done all I can for a non-dev.. Hope this helps some people... If
you want my .debs files feel free to ask. I'm not sure if it's okay to
post links to such things..

Sorry to hear it's not fixed for you guys. If anyone could build it
without the patches ubuntu/debian applied that would help alot (i'm not
a dev) I would, but build fails for me :/

If those it fails with: http://askubuntu.com/questions/761180/wifi-
doesnt-work-after-suspend-after-16-04-upgrade/761220#761220 this will
solve it for you, while we wait for devs to take a look at it.

So .3 is out now. Could everyone affected maybe try and test the new one
and see if they are still affected? It seems solved from here.

then, at least in Chrome, you should be able to see color glyphs

This requires a recent fontconfig, and hopefully with default config

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1574020] Re: Can't use networkmanager from lightdm

2016-07-01 Thread Joakim Koed
Hi again.

After talking to Thomas Haller from redhat, it seems that we can make it
work just by enabling "all users may connect to this network" in network
manager GUI.

Now the questions is, why did that change from 15.10 to 16.04? It is not
disabled by default, instead of being enabled like it should!

After upgrading to 16.04 desktop (unity) (clean install) from 14.04,
(so not really upgrading, but you get the point) I noticed that
lightdm with unity-greeter (all stock, nothing changed) can't connect

WiFi works after loggin it, but it should be working before also, if
not, what's the point in having an icon there :)

I get the following message: Failed to add/activate connection. - (1)

  This worked fine in 14.04.

I have noticed this problem in both my desktop (Broadcom WiFi) and

2016-05-17 Thread Joakim Koed

from 15.10 which was a bit different, but same result.

Then I reverted back and got the full log from syslog. here:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/16475211/

You can see on line 90, May 17 16:18:36, that is where i login and all
is well, just before that:

May 17 16:18:31 desktop NetworkManager[944]: nm_settings_connection_delete:

May 17 16:18:31 desktop NetworkManager[944]: [1463494711.7295] audit:

May 17 16:18:31 desktop NetworkManager[944]: (NetworkManager:944):

Does this help?

2016-05-17 Thread Joakim Koed
@seb128: I did some debugging. While this
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingNetworkManager was outdated, I suspect
since systemd, it was not so easy. I did found out though, that when
changing to tty1-6 and loggin in, then changing to tty7 I can use
networkmanager from lightdm. But not before loggin in.

Do you know how to debug with systemd? I looked in journalctl but could
not find anything relevant :(

Bug description:

WiFi works after loggin it, but it should be working before also, if
not, what's the point in having an icon there :)

I get the following message: Failed to add/activate connection. - (1)

I have noticed this problem in both my desktop (Broadcom WiFi) and

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1576726] Re: [SRU]network-manager

2016-05-09 Thread Joakim Koed
@happyaron: Regarding @jderose's problem. I think I have that too. What happens
is after resume network manager "turns off" at least it says its disconnected,
and then "wakes up" with a ethernet-logo, and I can't see any networks.
Internet/network still works, but unable to change(or even see) SSIDs / WiFi
networks..
I did fix it with a script to restart network-manager on each resume.. But that
problem is still in this version.

About my other bug report. Could you possible test it? Just logout, and
press on any wifi and see if that works?

Joel, I did this:

boot with nomodeset (press E after grub is booted and add nomodeset
after: quiet splash and press F10 (if I remember correctly) now change
to a terminal with CTRL + ALT + F2 or something.

wget
http://koti.kapsi.fi/~tjaalton/skl/build2/libllvm3.8_3.8-2ubuntu1.1_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i libllvm3.8_3.8-2ubuntu1.1_amd64.deb

Bug description:
[Description updated to reflect state of 16.04 release ISO]

  == In summary ==

If you have an Intel Skylake (6th gen) CPU and an NVIDIA GPU (or
possibly other GPUs that likewise require use of the llvmpipe opengl
software fallback), a work-around is needed to install Ubuntu 16.04
  desktop.

To work-around this, you'll need to:

  1) Choose "Install Ubuntu" in the pre-boot menu (rather than "Try
  Ubuntu without installing")

  2) Check "Download updates while installing Ubuntu"

** Note the above work-around wont work till
  llvm-toolchain-3.8 1:3.8-2ubuntu3 lands in xenial-updates (it's currently
only in xenial-proposed). FIXME: update description once this happens.

  == In detail ==

The Ubuntu 16.04 desktop ISOs includes libllvm3.8 1:3.8-2ubuntu1,
which has a bug that results in invalid JIT code generation when using
the mesa llvmpipe opengl software fallback on Skylake CPUs.

When you encounter this bug, Unity/Compiz will fail to start, and
you'll see something like this in dmesg:

  [ 2092.557913] traps: compiz[10155] trap invalid opcode
  ip:7efc940030d4 sp:7ffccd914ea0 error:0

libllvm3.8 1:3.8-2ubuntu3 fixes this issue, but the fix did not make
it onto the 16.04 release ISO. It will be included on the 16.04.1 ISO.

Also just tried with the .deb from
http://koti.kapsi.fi/~tjaalton/skl/build2 worked perfectly.

To future users: add nomodeset and then use wget to get it and install
it that way. Look me a while to figure out why tty1-6 was not working ;)
