I think my problem is related to Kubuntu 15.10 64bit. I have installed Kubuntu 15.10 32bit in another partition and midi works very well. When I go to Sound Settings, I have a choice between the S/PDIF and two analog outputs on my Audigy. Selecting any one of the three and then testing produces no sound at all. Speakers verified to work fine with a Windows 7 OS on the same machine.
