Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1390625] Re: mouse cursor gets corrupted

2015-05-30 Thread Lewis Odam
Yeah it is an annoying bug. I'm staying with Luna until it's fixed. I'm
finding it just as stable if not more stable than my windows 7 laptop.
Although Freya does have some very cool features I miss a little.
On 30 May 2015 18:25, Ryan Lounsbury ryanmlounsb...@gmail.com wrote:

I'll add my 2 cents into this discussion as well. First bug I ran into
when using elementary OS Freya on my Lenovo X201 w/Integrated Intel
Graphics. The cursor gets corrupted whenever I click and drag a file or
shortcut somewhere on the desktop. I can click and drag scroll bars,
windows, etc... It only ever happens when I click drag a file or short
cut. As soon as I drag the cursor gets corrupted and displays two arrows
and a small sliver of whatever was open on the screen at that time.

Switching to a different work space seems to clear it up as well.

I will look into trying it out soon. My thinkpad had a red nipple mouse and

As davixt3 said, installing xserver-xorg disables clicking with the
touchpad. You can still move the cursor with the touchpad, but you have
to use the buttons below the touchpad to click.

To fix the touchpad issue open dconf-editor and go to /org/gnome
/settings-daemon/peripherals/touchpad and set tap-to-click to true,
 touchpad-enabled to true and scroll-method to edge-scrolling.

2015-05-22 Thread Lewis Odam
Thanks for the feedback. Yes I read the xorg patch can help. I also read that
updating the linux kernel can help. Like I mentioned I've switched back to Luna
for now, and if the xorg update causes a few other things I think Luna will do
just fine. I will certainly check back and see how things are moving.

Subject: [Bug 1390625] Re: mouse cursor gets corrupted

The xserver-xorg installiation fixes the issue but, in my case, it introduces
another issue. A great number of artifacts, little white or black horizontal
lines sometimes appear/disappear on the screen in relation with the mouse
movement.
The solution of changing the intel method of accelleration to uxa works too,
but it has the same side effects. I suspect that installing xserver-xorg in
some way changes the accelleration to uxa...
