Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 2043442] Re: /usr/libexec/ibus-ui-gtk3 --enable-wayland-im system freezes
Thank you Paul. I did hit a launchpad problem in that the link https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2043442/+editstatus returns "Lost something? This page does not exist, or you may not have permission to see it. If you have been to this page before, it is possible it has been removed. Check that you are logged in with the correct account, or that you entered the address correctly, or search for it:" Could you point me to where to report this launchpad.net broken link? I have returned to bug 2043442 and confirmed I could select to edit it there so no problem for me. However, I would like to help others not to encounter the same error by reporting it properly. Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 2043442] Re: /usr/libexec/ibus-ui-gtk3 --enable-wayland-im system freezes
Thankyou for your quick response and question. I opened the following to check Settings > Input Devices > Keyboard > Generic 104-key PC is selected there Then noticed the object of your question. IBus Wayland is apparently the default with Ubuntu Studio. Help me, my assumptions are often suspect, thus this question. Is selecting Settings > Input Devices > Virtual Keyboard > [None] the same as "im-config -n none" in Konsole I have selected [None] and will reboot. Also if you have the time. Does "im" only concern the Virtual Keyboard, or am I turning off other features as well? A point to a source that will help me understand "im" will help me in the future. [image: 邏] L. P. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1933880] Re: systemd-logind crash when suspend with nvidia-suspend.service masked, bringing session down with it
I confirm that removing the .service files described above solves the issue for me as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933880 Title: systemd-logind crash when suspend with nvidia-suspend.service masked, bringing session down with it Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-465 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Steps to reproduce: 1. Run `sudo apt install nvidia-driver-465`. Then, without a need for a restart, run `sudo apt autoremove nvidia-driver-465`. 2. Leaving the terminal open, suspend the machine. Expected behavior: the machine suspend successfully and can be woken up successfully. Actual behavior: the machine doesn't suspend. It either: - hang with no respond other than SysRq+REISUB (or maybe network, but I didn't test), or - return you back to the login screen. Upon logging in, you'll notice that the terminal you opened is gone. Upon further inspection (on a session that doesn't hang), it's been found that X server died with: Fatal server error: [66.422] (EE) systemd-logind disappeared (stopped/restarted?) And checking journal for systemd-logind log, it said: Error during inhibitor-delayed operation (already returned success to client): Unit nvidia-suspend.service is masked. before the new process takes it place. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1951491] Re: Can't run snaps: .slice/session-1.scope is not a snap cgroup
Same issue here. My configuration is a fresh install of Ubuntu Mate 22.04 LTS, meant to be used both locally and remotely (via X2GO). >From local sessions, I have no anomalies for each application installed via snap, so I am sure that the system works like a charm under some conditions. In contrast, if I log in from a remote session and I try to start almost all applications installed via snap (e.g., Firefox, Brave, Arduino IDE), I fall into: /user.slice/user-1000.slice/session-14.scope is not a snap cgroup The "strange" thing is that I found an application that works pretty well even through remote sessions: Visual Studio Code, installed using this command: sudo snap install code --classic I have not yet understood what can make the difference here, but to have a full working system I prefer to rely on a sort of bugfixing, rather than (permanently) apply some workaround that distorts the behaviour of the system. I am curious to know why Visual Studio Code works (maybe the classic confinement?). Please, inform us if you get the point. Thank you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951491 Title: Can't run snaps: .slice/session-1.scope is not a snap cgroup Status in X2Go: New Status in snapd package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in x2goserver package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in snapd package in Debian: New Bug description: I just upgraded from hirsute to impish using do-release-upgrade. But I tried the same thing substituting chromium- browser for firefox, and it didn't help: chromium fails with the same error message. I guess there must be something left over from the hirsute version of snapd that isn't getting noticed or cleared by the impish version? [Touch-packages] [Bug 1871268] Re: Installation fails due to useless immediate configuration error when "Install Third-Party Drivers" is selected
** Changed in: ubuntu-cdimage Assignee: (unassigned) => luigi di matola (gigetto76) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871268 Title: Installation fails due to useless immediate configuration error when "Install Third-Party Drivers" is selected Status in Ubuntu CD Images: Fix Released Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in apt source package in Bionic: Fix Released Status in apt source package in Focal: Fix Released Status in apt source package in Groovy: Fix Released Status in apt package in Debian: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] Installations that really succeeded would then fail because APT could not immediately configure a package. Which is a pointless way to fail at that point, because everything did work out anyway. We have two changes that help address this: * The first one stops immediately configuring multi-arch siblings (e.g. libc6:i386 when it's configuring libc6:amd64). This was not necessary, and caused all the libc6:i386 failures here. * The second change sort of also supersedes the first one: It just ignores any errors from immediate configuration, relying on the fact that it's checked and rectified at a later point if there are unconfigured packages (which is what made all those failures happen spuriously after having successfully installed everything). [Test case] We have one test case in EIPP format in the Debian bug 973305 which was only helped by the second change, not the first one. Run /usr/lib/apt/planners < eipp.log and check there are no errors. TODO: It's unclear if the APT from proposed installed in the live session will fix the installer, needs investigation, but would make a useful test case. [Regression potential] It's imaginable that we missed something somewhere and some path that checked for a set error doesn't check it anymore, and we report success when we hit an error, but it seems unlikely. Behavior of --simulate changes. This used to fail before as well, and will now only produce a warning. We don't believe that is a reason of concern. [Groovy SRU] The groovy SRU is a sync of the 2.1.11 micro release from Debian unstable which also incorporates changes to the documentation: A typo fix, replacing focal with groovy in examples, and minor Dutch manual pages translation updates. We do not have test cases for the documentation changes, and we do not consider there to be a huge regression potential. As long as they build, they should be readable - maybe some words are wrong in the translation, who knows. [Original bug report] Test Case 1. Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1522675] Re: Warning messages about unsandboxed downloads
Is the command "CHOWN" or "CHOWN(1)" ? Thank you, for the info on this particular error as I had fond that the chown command was some how to be used, Probably off topic here, but it would be a great help if you could answer. I've been puzzled by the (1)? My attempt at finding --h help or invoking the command using "chown(1)" always returned the "unexpected argument "("" error. I haven't quite figured out (1)'s meaning or necessity. Being new to Linux and Unix and a Mister Literal has left me wondering if (1) or (2) is not part of the command, why is it there? If that info has been lost in the Unix Halls of Time that's OK. As I remember from my 8-bit days ( was a reserved character in the DOS world, Same set in the Unix world? [Touch-packages] [Bug 864735] Re: [ATI HDMI] HDMI Audio Disabled by Default (since oneiric)
This problem has shown up in 16.04 with alsamixer v1.1.0. Did someone remove the patch or fail to integrate the fix into 16.04 had to run alsamixer from terminal and unmute the speaker from there. There have been times before when coming out of fullscreen video using either Chrome or Kodi would drop me to a console screen with no input. I think I would be able to kill the gnome session in tty1. Now, after a bios upgrade as well as the latest display manager and kernel update, Kodi has frozen in fullscreen a couple of times and yet audio will still play from Kodi. I created the bug report in tty1. I've also been noticing that if I pause a Kodi video, other non-Kodi applications may not update their window content. For example, I may be in a webpage in Chrome and I try to mousewheel scroll, yet not see the scrolling effect. Or I will click on a different tab and the window doesn't show the switch. BUT, if I continue playing the Kodi video, Chrome will update it's screen, and if I switch back to the tab I scrolled, the scroll will have already occurred. I will say that I have at least not had a fullscreen GUI crash me out to console. Another peculiarity is when booting Ubuntu, I used to be able to press ESC to view the kernel/system booting output, but now it just shows a black screen with a cursor. The downside to that in 15.04 was I'd lose my mouse cursor when the GUI login screen came up. Let me know what other output you'd like (or whatever test you'd like me to try) "when" it happens again. --- .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.19.1-0ubuntu5 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: wily DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 DistroVariant: ubuntu EcryptfsInUse: Yes ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 4th Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:041e] (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASRock Incorporation Device [1849:041e] InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-10-28 (26 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Release amd64 (20151021) MachineType: To Be Filled By O.E.M. Connect a removable media to the computer. 2. On the launcher, click on the Files icon. 3. On the left sidebar, click on the removable media icon or the trash. 4. Minimize the window. 5. Click on the Files icon. EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR - The Files window to be maximized. REAL BEHAVIOUR - A new window is opened. RELEVANT DETAILS - One way to navigate between windows at this moment is to use the control + tabulation key combination, or to click again on the Files icon so windows are exposed. Otherwise the minimized window Can be restored by clicking on the Volume's launcher icon or scrolling on the Files icon ** SOLUTION ** WORK-AROUND - On the launcher, left click on the Files icon and select the unlock from Launcher option. FIX - The launcher icon for Files to be treated the same way as if it was unlocked. REGRESSION POTENTIAL - Clicking on the Files icon won't send the user to its home folder, but to the latest opened Files window.
