[Touch-packages] [Bug 1874515] Re: 20.04 does not bring up certain bridges

2020-04-28 Thread Mikael
The difference between bridges managing to come up correctly and the
ones which does not seem to be that bridges defined as "inet manual"
fails and the ones defined as "inet static" succeeds. An example of a
bridge coming up correctly with a similar setup without the post-up
brctl addbr command;

auto int0.70
iface int0.70 inet manual
vlan-raw-device int0
pre-up ifconfig $IFACE up
post-down ifconfig $IFACE down

auto br_nat
iface br_nat inet static
bridge_ports int0.70
bridge_maxwait 5
address 172.X.X.X/24
up ip ro add 10.X.X.X/10 via 172.X.X.X dev $IFACE

So two conclusions;

1) Bridges configured with bridge_ports with interfaces defined as "inet
manual" while the bridge is also configured as "inet manual" will fail
to come up correctly.

2) If a bridge fails to come up with the inet manual directive the
dhclient for br_ext_prim also dies after receiving one lease.

Reservation on #1 that this could probably also be true with an "inet static"
interface for a bridge configured as "inet manual".

Both of the above works 100% fine in 18.04.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1874515] Re: 20.04 does not bring up certain bridges

2020-04-28 Thread Mikael
Modifying /etc/network/interfaces to include the following post-up
completed networking startup successfully;

auto int0.51
iface int0.51 inet manual
vlan-raw-device int0
pre-up ifconfig $IFACE up
post-up brctl addbr br_nat_ext
post-down ifconfig $IFACE down

auto br_nat_ext
iface br_nat_ext inet manual
bridge_ports int0.51
bridge_maxwait 5
pre-up ifconfig $IFACE up
post-down ifconfig $IFACE down

auto int0.500
iface int0.500 inet manual
vlan-raw-device int0
pre-up ifconfig $IFACE up
post-up brctl addbr br_int_500
post-down ifconfig $IFACE down

auto br_int_500
iface br_int_500 inet manual
bridge_ports int0.500
bridge_maxwait 5
pre-up ifconfig $IFACE up
post-down ifconfig $IFACE down

Interestingly enough the dhclient also survived (see previous update) when
networking completed successfully;

root@fancy:/data# ps auxf | grep -i dhclient
root1264 0.0 0.0 99896 5700 ?Ssl 21:59 0:00
/sbin/dhclient -1 -4 -v -i -pf /run/dhclient.br_ext_prim.pid -lf
/var/lib/dhcp/dhclient.br_ext_prim.leases -I -df
/var/lib/dhcp/dhclient6.br_ext_prim.leases br_ext_prim

Both prior boots to this one had no running dhclient after the bridges failed
to come up.

This should imho be unrelated.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1630662] [NEW] Can't connect to CalDAV server

2016-10-05 Thread Mikael
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to connect Maya Calendar to caldav.one.com. I've setup
everything up as per the instructions from one.com. Still when I enter
my Username and Password and click OK I get back to the same window
asking for my Username and Password. I get no error message. I'm using
caldav.one.com on my phone and it works. Please let me know what further
details that are needed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1526200] Re: Displayport screen goes back and forth in to Power save mode

2016-04-19 Thread Mikael Svensson
1)
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
A10
08/17/2015

uname -r
3.19.0-56-generic

2) No improvement. The screen is black. After i installed
3.19.0-56-generic it worked a while but started after som days
flickering on and off in to power save mode. I can't have larger
resolution then 1280x800 on that screen that is attached with mini-
displayport.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1503360] Re: no audio devices - PulseAUDIO not started / crash / bug together with "pulseaudio multiband eq"?

2015-10-15 Thread Mikael Thurberg
update:

I did run the command:

"pavucontrol"

..but it didnt start / work..

I managed to fix it by running the following command:

"rm -r ~/.config/pulse; pulseaudio -k"

Then it did work, I started pulseaudio multiband eq again, but all my personal
settings had gone except the default ones that came with pulseaudio multiband
eq.. had to dial it in again.. no big deal.

Wrote everything down here if anyone will encounter a similar problem with
using pulseaudio together with "pulseaudio multiband eq" if it would anyone!

Take care!

/Micke

[Touch-packages] [Bug 198523] Re: Optical Audio Out Plays At Wrong Speed..

2015-10-14 Thread Mikael Thurberg
Its because its not synced the frequency between the output and input..

In other words, if you play a 96 kHz audio (or 48 kHz audio) via a 44.1
kHz output, it gets faster "trying to squeeze everything in the 44.1 kHz
stream"..

It could be a problem at your digital input (yamaha), but I dont think
it is there because they sense what kHz is beeing used and adapts the
input accordingly.

The error is somewhere between the kHz of what you are trying to play, what the
soundcard is sonfigured to play up sounds at, and at the digital output at the
card.

Its a missmatch between the kHz of what is beeing played and the
configuration of the mixer.. there lies the problem.

Title:
Optical Audio Out Plays At Wrong Speed..

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hey,

I have my 'Hard Heron' Alpha 5 Desktop computer hooked up to my Yamaha
receiver through a Fiber-Optic Audio Cable.
If I set my 'Sound' settings to go through 'Intel ICH5 - IEC958' I can get it
to play sounds, but the sounds play at a faster speed than regular. So when I
listen to music the music seems to be at double speed.. I have looked around
on the net for this problem and could not find anything..

Help would be much appreciated! :)

P.S. the sound through this cable works perfectly fine in Windows XP.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1503360] Re: no audio devices - PulseAUDIO not started / crash / bug together with "pulseaudio multiband eq"?

2015-10-08 Thread Mikael Thurberg
If it could help you save some time about this line as posted above:

"control=-3.7,-2.3,-7.3,-8.9,-8.6,-6.9,-7.3,-6.3,-7.6,-8.9,-10.9,-9.2,-9.9,-12.9,-13.2""

That are actually the settings in the Pulseaudio Multiband EQ that I
have.. its how the different eq-sliders are set in dB if anyone wondered
what that is.. now I probably saved someone eventually some time not
having to check that up..

Have a great day!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1351479] Re: Purple screen flicker on black screen when starting Ubuntu 14.04 with amd radeon 6450 gfx card

2015-10-06 Thread Mikael Thurberg
Hi Christopher!

I beg you pardon for the extremely late answer :/

It did work afterwards, dont remembered what I did to fix it but I managed to
get it working somehow,, maybe I did reinstall everything, dont remember to be
honest. Sorry about that.

Right now at the moment its not a problem or I cant verify it is one, Ill get
back if it is in that case.

At the moment I cant test with the latest development release, but in a
few mounts I can do that , absolutely!

Do I have to install the development release then, or can I try this out
with a live-cd?

I can try to see if everything works installing, because that was not the case
before..
If others dont report this also, I think maybe one can assume its not a problem
anymore?

I dont know..

Thanks for the help!
Have a great day!

Title:
Purple screen flicker on black screen when starting Ubuntu 14.04 with
  amd radeon 6450 gfx card

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Hi there!

  I cant start Ubunutu 14.04..

During the upstart I see the usual ubuntu loading screen (the one with
  the dots before loading x)..

But I see it with purple flicker and strange "noise patterns" across the
screen here and there..

Then it continues on to the loginscreen in ubuntu but here I dont see
anything, its black background with the same purple flicker/strange
  noise patterns here and there..

Some times I can see the cursor displaying on this black/purple
distortion pattern and I have one purple "square distortion pattern"
following the cursor when I move it around.. other than that I cant
see a thing actually so something goes wrong when loading this..

It all worked a few days ago and then I updated ubuntu and it didnt
worked.. Maybee it did have something to do with that I changed the
harddrive with gfx-card to another computer with the same chipset on
the motherboard (its only a slower cpu) because I was trying a thing
there and then I changed it back.. if I dont remember wrong it stopped
working there? Or if it did work and stopped working after doing the
usual ubuntu updates.. I dont remember to be honest when it did stop
  working..

Im not that experienced with ubuntu so I dont know what to do from
  here, help would be appriciated!

You can write what I can try and so I can reply here with the
  results..

right now its working everything, but I did remove the amd radeon 6450 gfx
card and run on the motherboards integrated gfx-chip..
then it loaded as usual so I suspect its something with the amd driver
somehow.. but still I have no clue how to fix this.. Ive tried to run in
failsafe-x mode at the grub start but with no sucess.. then its only dark with
a blinking cursor up in the corner but with nothing else.. not with the purple
distortion patterns anyway when I run that mode.. but nothing is loading as
said..

I have changed the hd with ubuntu from another computer back and
forth, both motherboards have the same chip, one comupter have a
sligthly more power cpu, the other dont, Ive changed the gfx card also
from one computer to the other.. It worked at first doing this with no
errors but now suddently it doesnt work on the new motherboard/cpu..

  Thankful for help anyway!

  Left mouse button stops working

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
This problem has plagued me for a few years across different laptops
and Ubuntu versions. Current I am experiencing this on a Dell Inspiron
  15z running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

It typically starts after I have used the chat or call feature in
gmail, by clicking on the phone icon in the left chat margin. I am a
Firefox user and have not tested this with chrome etc. It has not
happened if i dont install google-talkplugin so it is quite possible
that the plugin is to blame.

  Symptom
  ===
The left mouse button on all attached mice - USB , Trackpad and touch - will
not do anything however the right mouse button continues to work. This
happens to all applications and also to the desktop. The keyboard continues to
function as normal.

When this occurs , my solution is to Alt-F4 close all windows and log
out of the X session. When I re-login the left mouse button works as
  normal.

This is an irritant and work disruptor as I have to save all browser and
desktop applications to safe state before I logout to reset the mouse. I will
appreciate any soltion or workaround.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1410618] Re: MacBook Air 6, 2 TRRS Headset Mic Not Working

Title:
MacBook Air 6,2 TRRS Headset Mic Not Working

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hello,

I'm running Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 on a new MacBookAir6,2 with the Cirrus
Logic CS4208 and would love to get the microphone part of the TRRS
connector working. Mac OS picks up and utilizes the TRRS headset mic
without issue so I know the hardware is a go.

With the headset plugged in, running sudo hdajacksensetest -a results
  in:

Pin 0x05 ( Digital Out, HDMI): present = No
Pin 0x06 ( Digital Out, HDMI): present = No
Pin 0x07 ( Digital Out, HDMI): present = No

  AlsaInfo output here:
  http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=cabc8cab44d308c8a3898c66d48d9be4fc5ccf83

I opened up hdajackretask to find four pins:
  Green Headphone
  Pin ID: 0x10
  Headphone

  Internal Speaker
  Pin ID: 0x12
  Internal speaker

  Pink Mic
  Pin ID: 0x18
  Not connected

  Internal Mic
  Pin ID: 0x1c
  Internal mic

Unplugging and replugging the headset changes the Output device in
sound settings from Headphones to Speakers so that works, but nothing
in the input tab ever changes. It always lists two devices: Internal
Microphone and Microphone. Both of these seem to actually be the
internal microphone in the mac - either works without the headset
  connected at all.

So I'm not really sure how to proceed from here, but I'd be happy to
run whatever diagnostic tests might prove useful and/or even
contribute code toward a fix - but I just have no idea where to start.
Is it as simple as just finding the right pin and telling the system
to use it as a microphone?

Bug description:
When I connect the headphones, there is a strong hissing in both left
and right side. It does not amplify or reduce along with the master

The internal speakers of the laptop are not affected: when headphones

  Standard four questions:
  1) Ubuntu release: 14.04 LTS
  2) Package affected: kernel? (linux-image-3.13.0-24-generic) or maybe
alsa-driver?
  3) Unless I play music, I expect no to hear anything in the headphones
  4) I get a background hissing noise in the headphones

[Touch-packages] [Bug 320700] Re: gvim rendering is slow

2014-11-06 Thread Mikael Strom
I'm having the same problem under VmWare Fusion. When resizing the
window it takes at least 5 seconds to redraw the window.

I would really appreciate a workaround for this.

Title:
  gvim rendering is slow

Status in “vim” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: vim

Rendering in gvim is very slow compared to previous Ubuntu releases.
  It's usable, but takes patience. I'm using vim/gvim 7.1.314-3ubuntu3.1
  on Ubuntu 8.10.

Others have reported this same issue on a thread from the vim mailing list.
Many solutions have been tried w/o success:
  http://groups.google.com/group/vim_use/browse_thread/thread/dd1d8d9a799adf4a

From the thread, someone provided this benchmark script:
  -- -- --
   Benchmark vim's redrawing speed
  let i = 0
  while i 2000
1
redraw
$
redraw
let i = i + 1
  endwhile
  qa!
  -- -- --

I've run it with /etc/init.d/README as an input file (just to pick
  something consistent across Ubuntu machines):

  $ time vim -u NONE -U NONE  -S test-redraw-speed.vim /etc/init.d/README
  real 0m5.407s
  user 0m0.568s
  sys 0m0.048s

  $ time gvim -u NONE -U NONE -f -S test-redraw-speed.vim /etc/init.d/README
  real 3m27.614s
  user 0m11.685s
  sys 0m0.312s

As you can see gvim is almost 40x slower then vim (running in gnome-
terminal). You'd expect gvim to be slower then vim, but not by this
much. Note, from the thread, not all users experience this huge
difference. Some only report 2-3x slowdown, which I'd be very happy
  with at this point :)

I'm using the radeon X11 driver (open source) on a ThinkPad T42p, and
do _not_ experience slow rendering in other apps (for example, gedit).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1301206] Re: [regression] Black frame around windows and buttons censored

2014-10-10 Thread Mikael Ståldal
This affects me.

Ctrl-Alt-F1 and then Ctrl-Alt-F7 solves it temporarily.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1315770] Re: [Dell Precision M3800, Realtek ALC668, Black Headphone Out, Left] Strong background noise

Title:
[Dell Precision M3800, Realtek ALC668, Black Headphone Out, Left]
  Strong background noise

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in Fedora:
  New

Bug description:
When I connect the headphones, there is a strong hissing in both left
and right side. It does not amplify or reduce along with the master
volume. Instead, if I completely mute the master volume, the hissing
disappears. It comes back as soon as I unmute the master volume.

The internal speakers of the laptop are not affected: when headphones
are not connected, there is no background hissing noise.

  Standard four questions:
  1) Ubuntu release: 14.04 LTS
  2) Package affected: kernel? (linux-image-3.13.0-24-generic) or maybe
alsa-driver?
  3) Unless I play music, I expect no to hear anything in the headphones
  4) I get a background hissing noise in the headphones

  Thanks!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1351479] [NEW] Purple screen flicker on black screen when starting Ubuntu 14.04 with amd radeon 6450 gfx card

2014-08-01 Thread Mikael Thurberg
Public bug reported:

Hi there!

I cant start Ubunutu 14.04..

During the upstart I see the usual ubuntu loading screen (the one with
the dots before loading x)..

But I see it with purple flicker and strange noise patterns across the screen
here and there..

Then it continues on to the loginscreen in ubuntu but here I dont see
anything, its black background with the same purple flicker/strange
noise patterns here and there..

Some times I can see the cursor displaying on this black/purple
distortion pattern and I have one purple square distortion pattern
following the cursor when I move it around.. other than that I cant see
a thing actually so something goes wrong when loading this..

It all worked a few days ago and then I updated ubuntu and it didnt
worked.. Maybee it did have something to do with that I changed the
harddrive with gfx-card to another computer with the same chipset on the
motherboard (its only a slower cpu) because I was trying a thing there
and then I changed it back.. if I dont remember wrong it stopped working
there? Or if it did work and stopped working after doing the usual
ubuntu updates.. I dont remember to be honest when it did stop working..

Im not that experienced with ubuntu so I dont know what to do from here,
help would be appriciated!

You can write what I can try and so I can reply here with the results..

right now its working everything, but I did remove the amd radeon 6450 gfx card
and run on the motherboards integrated gfx-chip..
then it loaded as usual so I suspect its something with the amd driver
somehow.. but still I have no clue how to fix this.. Ive tried to run in
failsafe-x mode at the grub start but with no sucess.. then its only dark with
a blinking cursor up in the corner but with nothing else.. not with the purple
distortion patterns anyway when I run that mode.. but nothing is loading as
said..

I have changed the hd with ubuntu from another computer back and forth,
both motherboards have the same chip, one comupter have a sligthly more
power cpu, the other dont, Ive changed the gfx card also from one
computer to the other.. It worked at first doing this with no errors but
now suddently it doesnt work on the new motherboard/cpu..

Thankful for help anyway!
/Micke

2014-08-01 Thread Mikael Thurberg
Also I can add that it did not stopped working directly after upgrading
to 14.04 (from 13.10 I think), it did stopped working logged in/starting
the graphics/windows enviroment a short time afterwards if that
information would be of any help..?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1351479] Re: Purple screen flicker on black screen when starting Ubuntu 14.04 with amd radeon 6450 gfx card

2014-08-01 Thread Mikael Thurberg
I think this problem is related to the nomodeset problem because when
I try to start ubuntu from a usb-memory (when doing an install), that
doesnt work eighter with this configuration if I dont start ubuntu from
the usb-memory with the nomodeset option enabled.. Maybee I should add
that (?) as a separete bug report that you cant install ubuntu straigth
from the usb-memory without the nomodeset option enabled. I have seen
this problem around so Im unsure if I should add it to a new bug report
when trying to install ubuntu? What you think? Any idea adding that as a
bug-report?

Thanks for help!
