Bug description:
  [Impact]
Installations that really succeeded would then fail because APT could not
immediately configure a package. Which is a pointless way to fail at that
point, because everything did work out anyway.

So what we do is change that to a warning.

  [Test case]
Not available right now. Issues can flare up and then disappear again.

  [Regression potential]
It's imaginable that we missed something somewhere and some path that checked
for a set error doesn't check it anymore, and we report success when we hit an
error, but it seems unlikely.

Behavior of --simulate changes. This used to fail before as well, and
will now only produce a warning. We don't believe that is a reason of
  concern.

  [Groovy SRU]
The groovy SRU is a sync of the 2.1.11 micro release from Debian unstable
which also incorporates changes to the documentation: A typo fix, replacing
focal with groovy in examples, and minor Dutch manual pages translation updates.

We do not have test cases for the documentation changes, and we do not
consider there to be a huge regression potential. As long as they
build, they should be readable - maybe some words are wrong in the
  translation, who knows.

  [Original bug report]
  Test Case
  1. Install Ubuntu Desktop on hardware with an nVidia card and select to
install 3rd party drivers
  2. Proceed with installation

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1818360] [NEW] system heating and fan running after boot.

2019-03-02 Thread Mohamed IKBEL Boulabiar
Public bug reported:

After installing all updates on my DELL XPS 13 2018, I have the fan
making a lot of noise and system heating.

Looking into the processes, Xorg is eating 28% of the CPU, and also
update-mime-dat(abase).

This is now a frequent problem and it's eating the battery and slowing
down other applications.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1742852] Re: [hostname, Realtek ALC294, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all after windows update

2018-12-09 Thread Badaoui Mohamed
Hi,

ALC294 works but you will have to recompile the kernel :/

A patched was made that you can find at
http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa-devel/2018-December/142689.html

Be carefull there are 3 mails containing differents patches of the same
file sound/pci/hda/patch_realtek.c

Personnally I have a ASUS UX433 laptop and I applied this patch on the
linux-4.19.8.tar.xz kernel.
Once done all works ok.

It should works also on a ASUS UX533.

Hope this helps.

Mohamed.

Status in cryptsetup source package in Bionic:

Bug description:
  SRU for bionic:

Acceptance criteria: An encrypted partition can be decrypted using
  cryptroot-unlock.

Regression potential: It's not the default method, so unused by the
majority of people. Besides that the patched script runs fine in
  cosmic.

The cryptroot-unlock script in the cryptsetup package does not work in
initramfs.
It fails because "ps -e" is not available in busybox for initramfs.
  When building the package with

  CONFIG_DESKTOP=y
  CONFIG_EXTRA_COMPAT=y

the needed commands (ps, grep) with parameter are there and it works.
  Tetsted on Ubuntu GNOME 16.10.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1750126] Re: major failure in startup

2018-02-17 Thread Mohamed omar
thanks Christopher for the reply, but it happens that it was a
production machine and i could not lose another day, so i swept every
thing after backup and make a fresh installation.

Yes that was after automatic update not sure which package but i do
doubt compiz, the error was that the unity fail, the title bar of all
windows, the top main bar , and the launch sidebar , also the keyboard
shortcut for language switch was not working.

i have cairo-doc which is bottom icon bar -simulate mac- it was working
perfectly.

i have trying many things. but nothing work, the idea of this could
happen again in haunting me, and i do not know what to do with update
form now on.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1322382] Re: apt-get says that there are 'held broken' packages when there are no held packages

2016-06-10 Thread Mohamed Samy
I had the same error, and I solved it by checking the first two items in
the screenshot. You can open it by opening system settings >
software & updates => updates tab. After closing the window, type
'sudo apt-get update' in the terminal.

Bug description:
While attempting to install some package, apt-get tells me:

  Hence, an obvious contradiction.

This problem is important because this message obscures the real
reasons behind the failure of the often used 'apt-get install'
  command.

The message produced is absolutely not helpful for understanding of
  what is actually wrong.
