[Touch-packages] [Bug 2007913] Re: HDMI Output sound has disappeared after Ubuntu update

2023-04-11 Thread Robert Pearson
Rishabraju,
Boot into your BIOS screen (DEL or F2). Select your drive. When the GRUB menu
opens, select Advanced Features. You should then see a list of available
kernels. Select 5.19.0-32-generic (the later kernels are broken.
After you sign in, open the Audio setting, select HDMI hardware, and then test
the speakers.

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 2007913] Re: HDMI Output sound has disappeared after Ubuntu update

2023-04-07 Thread Robert Pearson
Interesting. That indicates that the code is "fragile", not robust. I'm
glad you finally got your systems to recognize the speakers. Do they work?
In my system, it recognized the HDMI audio output, it just does not work.
Testing the speakers gives the sound of silence. I'm back to
5.19.0-32-generic. That still works.

Will Ubuntu fix kernel 5.19.0-35 or just do another update with a
working kernel?

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 2007913] Re: HDMI Output sound has disappeared after Ubuntu update

2023-03-13 Thread Robert Pearson
Thank you so much!
I have two disk drives; one with 22.04 and one with 18.04.3. When the
update rendered 22.04 useless, I switched to 18.04.3. I got your
explanation on how to use different kernels. When 18.04.3 crashed, I tried
using a different kernel. In grub, I selected Advanced options and selected
the previous generic kernel linux-image-5.19.0-31-generic. That immediately
fixed the problem.
Apparently, the linux-image-5.19.0-35-generic has the bug.
Until they get around to fixing the defective 5.19.0-35 kernel, I will use
5.19.0-31 kernel.
Thank you so much, yet again.
This is the first time that I have gotten a work-around for defective code
since I started using Ubuntu MATE.

roll back to Ubuntu MATE 18.04 for a working system until you fix your

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2007913] Re: HDMI Output sound has disappeared after Ubuntu update

2023-03-04 Thread Robert Pearson
When I run lspci it lists
00:01.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Kaveri HDMI/DP
Audio Controller.

The latest update to Ubuntu MATE 22.04 just ignores it.

In the control center/sound/output it only sees the IEC958 built-in
audio digital stereo.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2007913] Re: HDMI Output sound has disappeared after Ubuntu update

2023-03-04 Thread Robert Pearson
My system is an ASUS A88XM-A with AMD A8-7600 Radeon R7. Video and audio
output are via HDMI.

As soon as I installed the latest update to Ubuntu MATE 22.04 the audio
broke. When I went to the control center, the entry for HDMI audio
wasn't there.

Apparently, the coder assumed everybody was using the motherboard audio
and nobody uses HDMI or Display Port output.

Please restore the HDMI audio output.

This is a previously reported bug, just different hardware.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1969633] [NEW] Bluetooth not connecting

2022-04-20 Thread Robert Pearson
Public bug reported:

My computer is an ASUS A88XM-A with AMD A8-7600 Radeon R7. Pluggable USB
2 Bluetooth dongle. Logitech K480 Bluetooth keyboard and Keychron K7
Bluetooth "keyboard".

The Bluetooth manager finds the K480 but pairing always fails. The
keyboard flashes blue but dongle steady blue.

The K7 does not even show up. (But then the "keyboard" does not even
work using a USB cable.)

Bought dongle and K480 4 years ago, never got them to work at all, gave
up as a bad investment.

I ordered a K7 wireless keyboard. What I received was a Bluetooth
keyboard. Bluetooth does not work. Plugging it in with a USB cable
partially works (function keys and End key do not work).

Got the K480 working with my Samsung Galaxy 5 Android tablet, but not
with my computer. I want Bluetooth but do not know how to get it to
work. It still does not work after 4 years of cold boots and the
replacement of the power supply.

I went to the Keychron Facebook Linux group. They were complaining that
Ubuntu does not support Bluetooth and that the Keychron function keys do
not work.

When I report a bug in Ubuntu I get the following errors.

I saw a response that said to examine the style sheets and remove the

Should the warning ge Gtk-WARNING **: Gtk does not yet support the 'max-
width' and 'max-height' properties? I do know that many of the CSS3
properties (like the 'rotation' property) are not yet supported.

Bug description:
When I report a bug in Ubuntu I get the following errors.

  (apport-gtk:16883): Gtk-WARNING **: 18:54:44.036: Theme parsing error:
gtk-widgets.css:3135:13: 'max-width' is not a valid property name

gtk-widgets.css:3136:14: 'max-height' is not a valid property name

I saw a response that said to examine the style sheets and remove the
'max-width' and 'max-height'
properties. But I check with the CSS3 web-site and they are both valid
property names.
  See https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_dim_max-height.asp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1799240] [NEW] When I attempt to update "Software & Updates" I get "Failed to download repository information" window.

2018-10-22 Thread Robert Pearson
Public bug reported:

The error window details are:

E:The repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/indicator-
kdeconnect/ubuntu cosmic Release' does not have a Release file.

This is probably why the KDE app in the Software Boutique failed to
install. The repository is not yet ready for release.
