[Touch-packages] [Bug 1926165] Re: Bass speakers not enabled on Lenovo Yoga 9i

2022-09-16 Thread Saverio Miroddi
I have the same problem on a Yoga 7 Gen 7 AMD (14ARB7), which may be the
same problem.

@pjungkamp In order to test on my machine, can I just apply the same set
of patches (¹ and ²), or do I need to do something like search/replace,
or I just can't apply them at all? Thanks!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1960709] Re: Recent bluez update broke Bluetooth for setups using a BT dongle

2022-02-14 Thread Saverio Miroddi
Hello!

I think the bug can be closed:

> BTW, "ConditionPathIsDirectory" is not new. It's been there for two
years already in Ubuntu 20.04.

On the same date of the bluez package upgrade, I had to revert to an
older kernel version due to the amdgpu driver incompatibility, so that
should be the cause.

The version was the Ubuntu mainline 5.11.16 (the latest compatible with
20.04 and with the amdgpu official drivers as of today), which I don't
know if it's of any interest (if so, I can upload the information).

  PAM errors logged when pam_kwallet is not installed

Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  ii  lightdm1.18.3-0ubuntu amd64  Display Manager
  VERSION="16.04.6 LTS (Xenial Xerus)"

  Running with XFCE installed, I see the following in /var/log/auth.log:

  May 21 15:52:09 lightdm: PAM unable to dlopen(pam_kwallet.so):
/lib/security/pam_kwallet.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory
  May 21 15:52:09 lightdm: PAM adding faulty module: pam_kwallet.so
  May 21 15:52:09 lightdm: PAM unable to dlopen(pam_kwallet5.so):
/lib/security/pam_kwallet5.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory
  May 21 15:52:09 lightdm: PAM adding faulty module: pam_kwallet5.so

  These can be avoided by prefixing the optional components in
  /etc/pam.d/lightdm (and lightdm-greeter) by a "-" as follows:

  #%PAM-1.0
  authrequisite   pam_nologin.so
  authsufficient  pam_succeed_if.so user ingroup nopasswdlogin
  @include common-auth
  -authoptionalpam_gnome_keyring.so
  @include common-account
  session [success=ok ignore=ignore module_unknown=ignore default=bad]
pam_selinux.so close
  #session requiredpam_loginuid.so
  session requiredpam_limits.so
  @include common-session
  session [success=ok ignore=ignore module_unknown=ignore default=bad]
pam_selinux.so open
  -session optionalpam_gnome_keyring.so auto_start
  -session optionalpam_kwallet.so auto_start
  -session optionalpam_kwallet5.so auto_start
  session requiredpam_env.so readenv=1
  session requiredpam_env.so readenv=1 user_readenv=1
envfile=/etc/default/locale
  @include common-password

  From man pam.conf:

  If the type value from the list above is prepended with a - character
  the PAM library will not log to the system log if it is not possible
  to load the module because it is missing in the system. This can be
  useful especially for modules which are not always installed on the
  system and are not required for correct authentication and
  authorization of the login session.

  Also, isn't it required to have:

  -auth   optional  pam_kwallet.so

  for pam_kallet to work, as it needs access to the password?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1889085] [NEW] GTK File chooser search doesn't find files with a dot

2020-07-27 Thread Saverio Miroddi
Public bug reported:

(I'm not sure this is the correct package to file the bug against)

The (I assume) GTK 3.0 File chooser dialog doesn't allow searching files
with a dot.

In the previous, but working, File chooser, in order to search files,
the typeahead would be used. In order to search dotfiles (files starting
with dot), one would enable display of hidden files if required, then
just type the filename (starting with the dot character).

With the new search functionality, the dot character is not searched (or
not considered valid, it's not clear), so one can't search dotfiles, and
they need to manually go through the files in order to find the intended
one(s).

In order to reproduce, for example:

- Open a webpage in Firefox
- Click "Save As..." on an image
- Tap Ctrl+H, if the hidden files are not displayed
- Tap Ctrl+F, in order to search
- Tap dot (`.`)

no files show.

I hope this is not another case of the (in)famous group of devs who's
trying to reduce the whole desktop experience to a single blinking dot.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1861598] [NEW] lightdm assumes pam-kwallet to be always installed

pam_kwallet5.so

  which I guess it's caused by this:

  > # grep kwallet /etc/pam.d/lightd*
  > /etc/pam.d/lightdm:authoptionalpam_kwallet.so
  > /etc/pam.d/lightdm:authoptionalpam_kwallet5.so
  > /etc/pam.d/lightdm:session optionalpam_kwallet.so auto_start
  > /etc/pam.d/lightdm:session optionalpam_kwallet5.so auto_start
  > /etc/pam.d/lightdm-greeter:authoptionalpam_kwallet.so
  > /etc/pam.d/lightdm-greeter:authoptionalpam_kwallet5.so
  > /etc/pam.d/lightdm-greeter:session optionalpam_kwallet.so auto_start
  > /etc/pam.d/lightdm-greeter:session optionalpam_kwallet5.so
auto_start

  kwallet is a KDE program, which is not installed on MATE (and I think
  it shouldn't be), so I guess that such modules should not be
  [attempted to be] loaded.

Title:
  Wrong audio profile (on a Skylake system), causing volume problems.

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  I have a Skylake system (ASRock Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac) with (x)Ubuntu
  16.04.

  My speakers are connected via the SPDIF port, but there is a problem.

  When I inspect the audio profile (in `pavucontrol`), I see that `Analog
Stereo Output (unplugged)` is selected.
  The speakers play regularly, even if this profile is wrong, but the volume
doesn't work correctly - anything above mute will cause the speakers to play at
maximum volume.

  If I choose the `Digital Stereo (IEC958)`, the speakers won't receive
  any signal at all.
