[Touch-packages] [Bug 1642966] Re: package cups-daemon 2.1.3-4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2016-11-21 Thread Stephan Springer
Same here, apport incorrectly complained that /etc/default/cups was
modified. I never touched that one. The content is:

# Cups configure options

# LOAD_LP_MODULE: enable/disable to load "lp" parallel printer driver module
# LOAD_LP_MODULE has migrated to /etc/modules-load.d/cups-filters.conf
# LOAD_LP_MODULE=yes

In some of these cases this bug can be worked around by calling "wpa_cli
suspend/resume" before/after suspend, like we used to do with the old pm-utils
quirks (/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/60_wpa_supplicant). This only affects
particular hardware, and thus this needs to be tested by affected reporters,
there is no general reproducer for arbitrary systems.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1422143] Re: No wifi connection after suspend with systemd due to missing "wpa_cli suspend"

2016-06-28 Thread Stephan Springer
Martin Pitt committed some fix in October 2015, but apparently that did
not solve this bug, or only partly.

What's the correct way to handle this? Reopen this bug or open a new one
referring to this one?

This still happens for me, too (Ubuntu 16.04), and the workaround from
#50 fixes it.

Bug description:
I try for a long time to set-up the wifi for my dell pro venue 11
v7130 (wifi chipset Intel Corporation Wireless 7260). The wifi
connection is perfect until the computer is suspend. After a suspend,
even activating the wifi from network manager is impossible. After
suspend even an exit doesn't reconnect to the wifi connection. It
seems that the wifi chipset is off and it's impossible to wake up.

Recently 15.04 has been update to 4.2 RC8. Nothing new !

A file unload_modules has been created.
/etc/pm/config.d with SUSPEND_MODULES="$SUSPEND_MODULES iwlwifi" without any
effect.

sudo service network-manager restart doesn't work too !

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1499896] Re: package modemmanager 1.4.10-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 100

2015-09-29 Thread Stephan Springer
This also occurred on a Lenovo Edge E130 and an Acer Aspire V.

Simply running «sudo dpkg --configure -a» fixed it for me, but update-
manager still didn't finish properly. I had to clean up the packages and
reboot by hand.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1270257] Re: NetworkManager failed to function after suspend and resume

2015-07-12 Thread Stephan Springer
Reconnecting wifi worked fine here until the system upgrade to 15.04
(vivid). Since then, after suspend and resume wifi does not work almost
always.

No wifi networks are shown in the network manager menu then, and I have
to either switch networking completely off and on again, or select
“connect to hidden nework…” and choose the desired SSID there. This is
really annoying, and I'm thinking about switching to another distro
because of this (and bug 1268257).

But this happens only on an Acer Laptop, not on another one from Lenovo.

$ lspci -v -s 4:0.0
04:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM43228 802.11a/b/g/n
Subsystem: Foxconn International, Inc. Device e04b
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 18
Memory at b350 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: access denied
Kernel driver in use: wl

Have I found the correct bug report, or should I file a new one?

Is there any better workaround than the mine?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1295909] Re: Unity spread trigger ruins windows and freezes desktop

2015-05-04 Thread Stephan Springer
I've had problems with window spread before, too, but only on a laptop
with Nvidia graphics. On another one with Intel graphics, it works
flawlessly.

Anyways, after upgrading to vivid, I tried to enable window spread using
unity-tweak-tool again, and I got that freeze plus (after a while) crash
again. But this time, it was so bad that I could not even log in any
more. Afer entering my password, and after a second or so, I was always
presented with a completely white (or light gray) screen, and after a
mouse click, there was the login screen again. A reboot did not help,
either.

So after removing some config files in my home directory also did not
help, I removed all nvidia-* packages. Now I could log in again, and
finally I had a chance to switch window spread off again! (By the way,
it still crashes.)

I also got many apport crash popups after being able to login again
(Xorg, compiz, apport).

I guess I was hit by multiple bugs at once. Do you need any additional
information?

The latest update disabled window spreading and when triggered crashes
the desktop. Everything freezes and windows cannot be switched. The
