Recaptcha told me that the browser does not support the widget. It seemed strange since this is a commonly used captcha framework. However, testing with the following test page https://patrickhlauke.github.io/recaptcha/ revealed that reCaptcha is not working at ll in the Ubuntu Browser. Since this is an important verification method these days I would assume someone needs to talk to Google to either allow our User-Agent, or we must fake once again the UA string in some way. If I install resolvconf and disable systemd-resolved, resolvonf keeps putting "nameserver 127.0.0.53" in /etc/resolv.conf. To get rid of that behavior, I disabled resolvconf-pull-resolved.path. Now resolvconf doesn't put any nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf, even though networkd's DHCP client has correctly stored the DNS server in /run/systemd/* and it's also available via "networkctl status". In short, resolvconf has support for dhclient and systemd-resolved, but no support for systemd-networkd without systemd-resolved. [Test Case] Add a device, and assign two IPv4 addresses. First one, with a short lease time. Second one, with a different ip and a longer lease time. Second one should be treated as secondary ip address, and upon expiry of the first one, should be promoted and become primary ip address. The below scripted instructions simulate this: sudo ip link add name testleases type dummy sudo ip address add 192.0.2.10/27 dev testleases \ valid_lft 5 preferred_lft 5 sudo ip address add 192.0.2.11/27 dev testleases \ valid_lft 11 preferred_lft 11 ip address list dev testleases | \ grep -q 'inet 192.0.2.10/27 scope global dynamic testleases' \ && echo ok || echo not ok ip address list dev testleases | \ grep -q 'inet 192.0.2.11/27 scope global secondary dynamic testleases' \ && echo ok || echo not ok sleep 6 ip address list dev testleases | \ grep -q 'inet 192.0.2.11/27 scope global dynamic testleases' \ && echo ok || echo not ok sudo ip link del dev testleases [Regression Potential] * This changes the default kernel behaviour, previously upon expiry of the primary address, secondary addresses were removed as well. Which is imho silly. * comparing networkd renewal with isc-dhcp renewal the semantics are quite different. Upon acquiring new ip address, isc-dhcp would instantly flush existing ip address, and add a new one. Networkd add the new address as secondary, and waits for old one to expire first before promoting / switching to using the new ip address. IMHO kernel should have an API to promote secondary ip address to a primary one. * This update also applies other safe-looking options, which are currently also already applied via sysctls shipped in other packages # Source route verification net.ipv4.conf.default.rp_filter = 1 net.ipv4.conf.all.rp_filter = 1 # Do not accept source routing net.ipv4.conf.default.accept_source_route = 0 net.ipv4.conf.all.accept_source_route = 0 # Enable hard and soft link protection fs.protected_hardlinks = 1 fs.protected_symlinks = 1 * This update also applies the following upstream/bufferbloat.net recommended setting # Fair Queue CoDel packet scheduler to fight bufferbloat net.core.default_qdisc = fq_codel * [~racb] There are complex network setups out there, such as HA with corosync/pacemaker, OpenStack Neutron, and that kind of thing. If this fix were SRU'd, will all of these things in the wild cope with this sysctl change? [Other Info] * Original bug report Hi there, we found a replicable issue that involves the Ubuntu Core networking and causes complete loss of connectivity. We run a custom board with ubuntu core: the architecure is amrhf. We replicated this issue with an official Ubuntu Core image on a Raspberry Pi: other platform was been tested. It shows that it is a snap core problem which interests networkd: we use the default network stack based on networkd + netplan. Below steps to replicate the issue. 1)Setup a dhcp server for lease of about some minutes (i.e 10 minutes). 2)Boot the board and wait for get an ip from dhcp server 3)Before the lease expires, set a reservation for a different ip address Depending on lease duration before the lease expires( for 10 minute we have 2 minutes before ), networkd configure the new address in addition to the previous one. When the lease expire both ip address ( the prevoius and the new one ) disappear from the interested network interface. Depending on lease duration before the second lease expires ( for 10 minure we have 2 minutes before ) networkd configure only the new ip address on the network interface and the ping toward an outside host work properly. During the test the dhcp server records correctly leases and their duration. We check directly from console the network interface setting with the tool ip, checking continuously the value for

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1674399] Re: OpenSSL CPU detection for AMD Ryzen CPUs
Fortunately the OpenSSL test suite also fails when run during the build on Ryzen. It turns out that the AES-NI+SHA-NI AES-CBC+SHA{1,256} implementations are both broken, so https://github.com/openssl/openssl/commit/08d09628d2c9f3ef599399d8cad021a07ab98347 needs to be backported too. I guess nobody's seriously used Ubuntu on Goldmont. I've uploaded fixed SRU test builds to https://launchpad.net/~wgrant/+archive/ubuntu/experimental/+packages?field.name_filter=openssl, and they all build and test successfully on i386 and amd64 on Ryzen. At least 9.3~ppa1 even lets OpenVPN connect, with accelerated hashing. I don't think we really need to dig up a Goldmont device from somewhere, but if someone has one handy... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to openssl in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1674399 Title: OpenSSL CPU detection for AMD Ryzen CPUs Status in openssl package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in openssl source package in Xenial: Fix Committed Status in openssl source package in Yakkety: Fix Committed Status in openssl source package in Zesty: Fix Committed Status in openssl source package in Artful: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] * Context: AMD added support in their processors for SHA Extensions[1] (CPU flag: sha_ni[2]) starting with Ryzen[3] CPU. These values were used to prioritize connections, so that for example, when connected to both wired and wireless at the same time, wired can be used in priority over wireless without incurring packet loss. Currently, when connected to both wired and wireless are connected to the same subnet, the user may notice connectivity issues since packets are sent in a round-robin fashion over all default routes on the same subnet with the same metric. [Test Case] 1- Connect to a wireless network. 2- Connect to the same network over Ethernet both connections should come up on the same subnet. 3- Make sure there is no packet loss, and that there are specific metric values for each default route, as displayed by 'ip route'. [Regression Potential] Since handling default routes properly involves correcting the behavior for all device types, VPN behavior may change to pick up the default routes in all cases, over a wired connection. It's also possible that a connection pick up the default route when it is not meant to. --- With Vivid, having two connections to the same network subnet is unstable due to missing metrics for local networks. Example: Being connected to 192.168.1.0/24 via both wired and wireless will cause connectivity issues as sent packets hop between the two interfaces. It used to be that this wasn't an issue. I would go between work and home and plug in and my machine would automatically connect to wireless and it would use the lower metric ethernet interface for all communications, while the wlan interface would remain connected but unused. For machines that have already upgraded, restarting affected processes or rebooting the whole system should resolve any problems. ** Changed in: eglibc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: eglibc (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => In Progress ** Also affects: glibc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: glibc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: glibc (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to eglibc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1585614 Title: libc on 2016-05-25 causes Apache not to restart, libm.so.6: symbol __strtold_nan, version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference Status in eglibc package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in glibc package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: This morning I applied the following updates to Ubuntu 12.04 webservers: The following packages are currently pending an upgrade: apt 0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.27 apt-transport-https 0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.27 apt-utils 0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.27 libapache2-mod-php5 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.23 libapt-inst1.4 0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.27 libapt-pkg4.12 0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.27 php5-cli 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.23 php5-common 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.23 php5-curl 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.23 php5-dev 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.23 php5-gd 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.23 php5-mysql 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.23 php-pear 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.23 Apache fails to restart, siting error: apache2: Syntax error on line 212 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/php5.load: Cannot load /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: /lib/x86_64-linux- gnu/libm.so.6: symbol __strtold_nan, version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference Into file /var/log/apache2/error.log Looks like I am trying to roll back all those php packages... [Touch-packages] [Bug 1549363] Re: Unprivileged LXC will not start after today's updates
I grabbed 2.0.0~rc3-0ubuntu2 before I wrote those comments, as I noticed the cgfs changes. My last reboot was this morning, between upgrading to -0ubuntu1 and -0ubuntu2, so I think the apparmor stuff is still broken. The profile doesn't even appear if I explicitly apparmor_parser -r, -a, -R in any combination, though --debug definitely shows it parsing that file. It's very, very weird. This is all with Linux 4.4.0-7, since I hadn't noticed 4.4.0-8 sitting in -proposed. lxc-container-default-cgns doesn't show up in apparmor_status, despite the other three being there. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1542597] Re: dnsmasq breaks Steam downloads on Comcast
** No longer affects: dnsmasq -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1542597 Title: dnsmasq breaks Steam downloads on Comcast Status in dnsmasq package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: TL;DR: With dnsmasq configured, "nslookup cdn.cs.comcast.steampowered.com" (rather, the query, not nslookup itself) hangs. As a result of the DNS query hanging, Steam is unable to download any game content. Longer explanation, which I posted on the Steam forum at http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/412446292762583371/ to help other users: I had a persistent problem with Steam not downloading games on Ubuntu, even on the same machine and same network where it worked fine under Windows (both 7 and 10). Here's an explanation of why and how to fix it, since most people will not be able to diagnose it. Background: Like most big data providers, Steam has a lot of servers hosted at various ISPs. When you download a game, you're directed to servers that are topologically closer to you--usually ones hosted by the ISP you use. In my case, this is Comcast, and Steam uses the host name cdn.comcast.cs.steampowered.com. Ubuntu Desktop uses a caching DNS server called dnsmasq. Besides providing caching services, it captures advertised hostnames on the network, allowing you to refer to other machines by name without having to set up DNS. Symptom: You'll get dialog windows and messages in the Steam log file saying that connections timed out. No downloads will actually work. Interestingly, nowhere does it explicitly tell you that it's actually the DNS query that's timing out, as opposed to the connection to the actual content server. This confused me quite a bit. The problem: Steam's DNS and dnsmasq don't get along. The list of DNS records for cdn.comcast.cs.steampowered.com is long enough that the response doesn't fit in a UDP packet. Normally this is retried transparently over TCP and works fine. However, dnsmasq stalls and times out on this request. (Don't ask me why. I haven't debugged it--yet.) As a result, all attempts to connect to the Steam content servers fail, and no downloads occur. Note: I've only run the Steam client on Ubuntu 14.10 and 15.04. I do not know whether this problem affects other versions. Workaround: The obvious workaround is to stop using dnsmasq. However, it's somewhat hardwired into Ubuntu. Here's what I did: # apt-get install unbound # do this first or you'll be sad # cd /etc/NetworkManager # service NetworkManager stop # vi NetworkManager.conf # or whatever editor you want; I don't care [change "dns=dnsmasq" to "dns=unbound"] # rm /etc/resolv.conf # don't forget this # service NetworkManager start Now all your DNS queries should go through your local unbound server (at 127.0.0.1 a.k.a. localhost), retries over TCP should work as expected, and Steam should be able to download just fine. You can test it with: # nslookup cdn.comcast.cs.steampowered.com If that hangs or returns SERVFAIL or REFUSED, you still have a problem. I've done multiple armhf builds on both trusty and utopic arm64 with the -proposed package, and everything seems happy. ** Tags removed: verification-done-trusty verification-needed-utopic ** Tags added: verification-done -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to procps in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1415481 Title: default mmap_min_addr for arm64 prevents running arm32 applications Status in procps package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in procps source package in Trusty: Fix Committed Status in procps source package in Utopic: Fix Committed Bug description: [ SRU Justification ] Executing 32-bit arm binaries as user fails on arm64. Turns out, this is bad. [ Test Case ] Grab a 32-bit binary (either multiarch via armhf, or compile a quick static hello) and try to run it. Also, check /proc/sys/vm/mmap_min_addr is set to 32k instead of 64k after boot. [ Regression Potential ] Shouldn't be any issue with 4k pagesize kernels, and this was already the default on 32-bit ARM for the same reasons. It could, potentially, mean that the zero page is no longer entirely protected from mmap when running a 64k pagesize kernel, however we don't currently ship such a kernel, preferring instead to have 32-bit compatibility. [ Original Bug Report ] Executing 32-bit arm binaries as user fails on arm64: # file hello hello: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, ARM, EABI5 version 1 (SYSV), statically linked, for GNU/Linux 2.6.32, BuildID[sha1]=c37a3b366d645eee600963a535370fa0bad9b2c0, not stripped # ./hello hello world # su - linaro $ /root/hello Segmentation fault Root cause was identified to /etc/sysctl.d/10-zeropage.conf, which is set on arm64 to 65536. To run legacy binaries, this should be set to 32768 like on armhf anr armel. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1171047] Re: update-manager times out checking for updates
Launchpad now writes out Translation-en.bz2 for PPAs and includes it in Release, preventing apt from probing. This will gradually roll out to all existing PPAs as new packages are uploaded to them. ** Changed in: launchpad Status: Fix Committed = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1171047 Title: update-manager times out checking for updates Status in Launchpad itself: Fix Released Status in “apt” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I've bought a number of humble bundle games that were activated through the software centre, so I have quite a lot of sources in apt. The server that they come from is so terribly slow to fetch from that it causes the update manager to time out when checking for updates. See the attached file for the timestamped output from apt-get update, and you'll see that while it's generally slow (multiple seconds between requests once the normal speed ones are dealt with) there is one that takes about 12 minutes to respond at all (13:21:48 to 13:34:12) This means that I can't update through the ubuntu update manager, nor does it tell me when updates are available. My internet is quite good, the first lot of sources complete in ~10 seconds, the problem seems to be at the private-ppa.launchpad.net server end. However, this wouldn't be such an issue if the update manager didn't time out (but really the solution is to fix the apt servers.)
