Title:
  System becomes unstable on resume

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After I come back from suspend the system looks fine, then once
launching the Unity dash the system becomes unstable. The graphics
start to render incorrectly and eventually the system will crash.

Once this problem starts it can be stopped by switching to TTY1 and
back to 7. I experience many of the following errors in dmesg every
  second until I swap TTY.

Title:
Removal of revert_scalable_fonts_metric.patch causes ugliness in
  Claws-Mail

Status in freetype package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in freetype package in Debian:
  New

Bug description:
This is mostly a tracking bug for this discussion on ubuntu-devel:

  https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-
  devel/2016-February/039224.html

The following precise-era patch was recently removed from freetype:

  http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
  branches/ubuntu/wily/freetype/wily/view/head:/debian/patches-
  freetype/revert_scalable_fonts_metric.patch

which caused a number of visual effects in various applications. In
Emacs, the lines get vertically closer so that more lines are visible
on screen. This is subtle and doesn't look too bad otherwise.

However, in Claws-Mail several negative effects were noticed. The
lines in the Summary window are more squished together and the
characters appear squished too. This is with Sans 10 font. This is
  less readable.

In the Message window it's worse. There I use Ubuntu Mono 14. The
problem isn't the vertical spacing, but the horizontal spacing. Now
there is more space between characters and that actually makes the
  window less readable.

I will contact the upstream Claws mailing list to see if they have any
  thoughts.

  3) When I close the laptop's lid and open, the wifi should reconnect
  4) Wifi does not reconnect. It says "Wi-Fi networks" - "disconnected" when I
left-click on NM icon in notif area. However the context menu (right-click) has
items "Enable networking" and "Enable Wi-Fi" both with checkmarks.

  Workarounds:
switch off - on the physical switch on laptop OR two times go and select
"Enable networking" in the NM context menu (after first time it removes
checkmark and the "Enable Wi-Fi" item - visual feedback of being disabled).

Sound output device keeps changing when using headphones

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
Recently upgraded to 12.10. Having issues with sound when using
headphones plugged into the front ports. Something that doesn't happen
when booting to windows - so fairly confident it's an Ubuntu issue.

When listening to any sound, music, video etc the sound levels jump up
and down and click. If I open sound from the settings menu when
playing videos or music and viewing the output tab I can see
headphone - built-in audio disappear and reappear (very quickly) so
I'm guessing the system is jumping back to the analogue output and
back again which is why the sound volume changes and clicks.

Worth noting I never used my headphones when 12.04 was installed so
not sure if it's this OS or Ubuntu hates my hardware generally. Booted
from live cd (usb) to 12.04 and there wasnt any issue.

Anyone seen this before? any advice?

Sound is built in to motherboard. I have the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1252121] Re: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled

2015-03-28 Thread Yanpas
Have anybody tried to remove light-locker? Maybe light-locker causes it?
Or lightdm... As for me the bug isn't reproducable currently. Also I
have upgraded to 3.16 kernel and suspending is much faster now

  SRU INFORMATION:
  FIX: https://github.com/desrt/systemd-shim/commit/9e1ebe3ab (in trusty
already)

Regression potential: Low. Flushing the session bus was introduced in
version 4 and is obviously bogus as in a system D-BUS service there is
no session bus. This causes lots of confusing error messages and
unnecessary overhead like trying to start dbus-launch. Flushing the
system bus is low-risk, in most cases it's a no-op and it would
otherwise prevent losing signals after waking up. No known
  regressions.

TEST CASE: Run several suspend/resume cycles with the lid, session
indicator menu, and verify that the network comes back up. It is known
that this fix is necessary but not sufficient, so it is not expected
to fix all cases. But it should not make things worse, so if network
now does not come up any more on a machine where it previously worked
  this would count as failure/regression.

@Pablo have you tried disabling ACPI HPET Table in BIOS? Maybe you don't
have such option in BIOS/UEFI.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1252121] Re: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled

2015-03-08 Thread Yanpas
Hello guys! The bug seems to be fixed on my PC. There were lots of changes
since the last check, but the last I did was disabling ACPI HPET Table in BIOS.
Also I got rid of indicators.
Other BIOS settings:

suspend to ram - auto
check ready bit - auto
away mode support - disabled

restore on AC - power off
Ring-in power on - disabled
PCI devices power on - disabled
PS/2 Keyboard power on - disabled
RTC alarm - by OS

ACPI HPET Table - disabled

Regression potential: Low. Flushing the session bus was introduced in

Bug description:
After upgrading to Unity version 7.2.2+14.04.20140714-0ubuntu1 on
Trusty, the lockscreen sometimes fails to take the keyboard focus away
  from Chrome.

This might happen if there's a text selection in Chrome, and also when
  resuming after suspend.

It doesn't always happen, as this is a race condition, but it's easy
to reproduce by selecting the location bar in Chrome and then locking
  the screen.

Workaround: click on any indicator in the upper right corner, and
close the menu. After that, keyboard input is sent to the lockscreen
  again.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1310200] Re: Indicators disappear at the panel (clementine, dropbox, skype etc)

2014-07-16 Thread Yanpas
I have just been testing Dropbox, Skype and clementine. Everything works
fine. And this fix seems to fix the bug with displaying unplugged flash
drive on Launcher :)

Bug description:
  [Impact]
Some indicators icons (such as skype, clementine, dropbox) disappear from
panel when changing graphical state.

  [Test case]
  1. Run one of the affected software (i.e. skype)
  2. The skype icon should show in the unity panel
  3. Change your status in skype to something else (i.e. Away)
  4. The skype icon in the panel should change without disappearing

  [Regression potential]
Nothing known, the icons database is reloaded for safety checks and this does
nothing but updating the icons.

Unconstant indicators (which are changig their graphical state during work of
the app, for example skype, clemetine) disappears on the panel. They appear
again if you click the mouse on th closest rightest indicator and pull it into
left side or they appear after some time.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1308037] Re: No results from application scope

2014-07-11 Thread Yanpas
That how my app scope looks sometimes. Only relogining helps. Is that
bug similar or I need to create new? And is there a way to get this
scope work without relogin?

Bug description:
Unity is in a state where I don't get any results from the
applications lens. This sometimes happens for one search but either
re-entering the search or toggling the lens has always fixed it in the
past for me. This time neither of these steps work.

I'm attaching a bustle log of the problem in case that's helpful. I
searched for spotify, which I've got installed, and got 0 results.

The only way to fix the issue is to log out and back in.
