Title:
Laptop does not wake properly from suspend/sleep

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I am running xfce4/lightdm/lihg-locker on ubuntu 14.04.2

The bug does not always manifest itself, but does so frequently.

When waking from sleep/suspend I get the unlock screen but after
entering my password the main display does not appear; it remains
blanked. Sometimes re-suspending and re-waking the machine resolves
  the problem, but not always.

Alternatively, the main screen does appear ut the mouse pointer is
missing. I can tell where it ought to be by the highlighting of menu
items. In this case re-sleep/re-waken has always resolved the problem.

Sometimes I can get to a console seesion with ctl-alt-f1. In this case
killing xfce4-session clears the problem, but after doing this a few
  times skype will not restart.

WORKAROUND: I deleted lightlocker and replaced it with xscreensaver.

Title:
thumbnails are not being cached by gallery

Status in gallery-app package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The gallery app is not using the QML cache to store thumbnails. They
are being reloaded each time they are needed which causes slowness and
the spinners to be shown. We set the imageSource on the qml side to
path + Date.now() to make sure changes to the files on disk are
updated, but this could be optimized.

Instead we should monitor file modifications and only invalidate the
cache for that file if possible.
