Right-click -> Properties -> Open With DOES show "Set as default"

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1806173] [NEW] autodetect indentation

2018-12-01 Thread anatoly techtonik
Public bug reported:

Vim already comes with a good syntax highlighting default, but editing
files with 2 space indentation is a disaster. All indentation aware
editors correctly detect this setup and are able to indent and dedent
lines correctly, but not vim.

There are a couple of plugins that fix the issue, even though I think
that it is a usability bug in vim.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1655874] [NEW] Better error message for missing names

2017-01-12 Thread anatoly techtonik
Public bug reported:

I've tried to report bug against uvcvideo in dmesg. `ubuntu-bug` refused
with the message "The report belongs to a package that is not
installed".

http://imgur.com/a/GXtov

The message is wrong - it is not that there is a package that is not
installed, there is no such package at all
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=uvcvideo=names=all

Apport could do this check and provide a link package search in that
popup message.

And if this bug is fixed, it will be possible to fill another request -
when the package is not found, make an additional lookup for name in
drivers shipped by default with kernel.

I can try to make a patch if somebody can enlighten me on a TRUE way to
make a package name lookup from apport. Ideally offline, but online is
fine too if there is no way.

** Affects: apport (Ubuntu)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1635788] [NEW] LightDM deadlocks station after resume

2016-10-22 Thread anatoly techtonik
Public bug reported:

After getting back from sleep or suspend, LightDM provides login screen
with no controls to switch layout, change user or suspend/shutdown

In Greece, the default system layout is "us,gr":
  $ grep XKBLAYOUT /etc/default/keyboard

For new users that don't have .dmrc or accountsservice entries and are
supposed to get the system defaults, LightDM assumes their keyboard layout is
"us".
So they can't switch languages in the greeter and they can't input national
characters until they login, go to gnome settings and manually set the keyboard
layout.

  A similar bug was
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/919200, but
that was only solved for the single-layout case.

While copying a large (8 gig) file across an SMB network, I minimized
it. The right click on the Nautilus Unity bar showed a Show copy
dialog item. Clicking on that item did nothing. The only way to get
the dialog back up was to open one of the two minimized Nautilus
windows and then minimize the one on top. After that minimize, then
the copy dialog was displayed on top of the other Nautilus window. I
couldn't find any way to get the copy dialog back on screen without
clicking around somewhat aimlessly displaying and minimizing Nautilus
windows until it appeared. The Show copy dialog right-click menu

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1413343] Re: lxc-create debug output is broken or useless

2015-01-27 Thread anatoly techtonik
Yes, I probably need unprivileged containers (not sure why, though). I
wish that lxc-create could provide a better command line guide than
searching on the internet and some help about what container do I need.
I just need isolated Linux environment to package my Python script so
that it is available on Ubuntu.

I've successfully created non-privileged container (just because it is
easier) and now I am looking how to login inside and pass files in and
out.

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1413343] Re: lxc-create debug output is broken or useless

2015-01-24 Thread anatoly techtonik
Cool. Is there a way to use default template for current operating
system? I don't want to know about templates yet, so I'd be happy with
whatever default is there (I am not sure what a rootfs in container is
and if I want it).

Also, could it be the problem that I am not running under the root?
Are invalid debug values in options also reported in released versions?

Title:
lxc-create debug output is broken or useless

Status in lxc package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Can't create container and debug output doesn't explain anything:

  $ lxc-create --logpriority=DEBUG -n buildbox -o here.log
  lxc-create: Error creating container buildbox
  $ cat here.log
   lxc-create 1421867190.847 WARN lxc_log - lxc_log_init called with
log already initialized
   lxc-create 1421867190.847 ERRORlxc_create_ui - Error creating
container buildbox

I doubt that --logpriority option is processed at all:

  $ lxc-create --logpriority=wat -n buildbox -o here.log
  lxc-create: Error creating container buildbox

[Touch-packages] [Bug 447751] Re: ubuntu-bug should fall back to using its argument as a command name (ubuntu-bug ubuntu-bug should work)

So, what is the process of editing an existing pull request here?

Title:
ubuntu-bug should fall back to using its argument as a command name
  (ubuntu-bug ubuntu-bug should work)

Status in “apport” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: apport

ubuntu-bug understands package names and the full path to a program.
If the argument I give it is neither but is the name of an executable
on $PATH it should do what I mean and use that. It could optionally
confirm that with me first (Did you mean to file a bug on /usr/bin
/ubuntu-bug, owned by the apport package?). The current Package
ubuntu-bug does not exist message is less useful than this would be.
I'll probably see if I can cook up a branch with this behavior later.
