I am also using VGA and don't have any detection problems. I don't know if I have the same issue as OP though. I think I have the same bug with Ubuntu 16.10. 16.04 was fine. Additionally, setting a new wallpaper is a bit slow. The new wallpaper appears after a delay of 2 seconds without any special effect (no fading in/out). NetworkManager does a scan every 2 minutes. It can lead to latency issues, lost packets or disconnections. To disable it, you can set the BSSID in your WIFI access point profile (in the network settings). Public bug reported: When the mouse cursor leaves one of the screens, there is either : - no problem - the screen becomes black just below the position of the cursor and instantly comes back to normal. - the screen becomes entirely black with some random colored pixels flickering on the far left of the screen. I have to move the cursor to the black screen, otherwise it stays black. It happens on Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 Beta and Ubuntu Mate 16.04 Beta.
