[Touch-packages] [Bug 1897561] Re: libperl.so.5.30.0 causes nginx to segfault

2023-06-07 Thread Pietro Mingo
I confirm that this problem continues for me with nginx and ubuntu 22.04.
I'm solving by uninstalling libnginx-mod-http-perl replacing nginx-extras with
nginx-core.

Title:
  libperl.so.5.30.0 causes nginx to segfault

Status in perl package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  [Steps to reproduce]

  1) launch a focal container
  $ lxc launch images:ubuntu/focal focal-1897561
  2) enter the container
  $ lxc shell focal-1897561
  3) install libnginx-mod-http-perl
  # apt-get install -y nginx-core libnginx-mod-http-perl
  4) check nginx journal
  # journalctl -fu nginx &
  5) reload nginx 2-3 times
  # systemctl reload nginx

Eventually you will see this from the journal:

  Oct 13 17:13:34 focal-1897561 systemd[1]: Reloaded A high performance web
server and a reverse proxy server.
  Oct 13 17:13:35 focal-1897561 systemd[1]: nginx.service: Main process exited,
code=dumped, status=11/SEGV
  Oct 13 17:13:35 focal-1897561 systemd[1]: nginx.service: Killing process 588
(nginx) with signal SIGKILL.
  Oct 13 17:13:35 focal-1897561 systemd[1]: nginx.service: Killing process 589
(nginx) with signal SIGKILL.
  Oct 13 17:13:35 focal-1897561 systemd[1]: nginx.service: Killing process 588
(nginx) with signal SIGKILL.
  Oct 13 17:13:35 focal-1897561 systemd[1]: nginx.service: Killing process 589
(nginx) with signal SIGKILL.
  Oct 13 17:13:35 focal-1897561 systemd[1]: nginx.service: Failed with result
'core-dump'.

  [Workaround]

If libnginx-mod-http-perl is not needed, purging it and restarting
  nginx sidesteps the problem.

  [Original bug description]

  Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

Looks that Perl 5.30 has bug that causes nginx to die, usually occurs
  after "service nginx reload"

This looks like nginx, but it really is perl issue:
  https://github.com/Perl/perl5/issues/17154

Fix done in 5.32 (Perl5 commit bf0) and people are asking backport
to 5.30 to get fix also to nginx.

Hi ,
I have the same problem and I solved with:
sudo udevadm trigger. I don't know why but after running this command all works
fine

Title:
  Left mouse button stops working

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This problem has plagued me for a few years across different laptops
and Ubuntu versions. Current I am experiencing this on a Dell Inspiron
  15z running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

It typically starts after I have used the chat or call feature in
gmail, by clicking on the phone icon in the left chat margin. I am a
Firefox user and have not tested this with chrome etc. It has not
happened if i dont install google-talkplugin so it is quite possible
that the plugin is to blame.

  Symptom
  ===
The left mouse button on all attached mice - USB , Trackpad and touch - will
not do anything however the right mouse button continues to work. This
happens to all applications and also to the desktop. The keyboard continues to
function as normal.

When this occurs , my solution is to Alt-F4 close all windows and log
out of the X session. When I re-login the left mouse button works as
  normal.

This is an irritant and work disruptor as I have to save all browser and
desktop applications to safe state before I logout to reset the mouse. I will
appreciate any soltion or workaround.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1642922] [NEW] [EasyNote_MX45, Analog Devices AD1986A, Other Speaker, Internal] volume slider problem

2016-11-18 Thread pietro
Public bug reported:

hello, I'm new with Ubuntu so I'll try
to make you figure out what my problem is, as best as I can.
I'm also sorry for my English is not so good...

PC: Packard Bell EasyNote
CPU: Genuine Intel CPU T2050 @ 1.60 GHz x2
OS: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
Release: 16.04
OS Type: 32-bit
Package: alsa-driver
Audio Hardware: HDA Intel
Processor: Analog devices AD1986A

Description:

On my old laptop the volume slider indicator on the right top of the desktop
still always active and starts to flash continuously after I'm logged into the
OS. I can verify this also through the AlsaMixer v1.1.0 control panel, once I
launched the command 'alsamixer' from terminal.
Master,Headphones,Speakers and PCM faders flash continuously, the db gain move
from 0,00 to -46,50.
Audio doesn't work correctly, when I try to watch a video or listen to a song I
can only hear little and costant clips.
Is there any solution to my problem?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1290847] Re: pyvenv fails due to mising ensurepip module

2015-06-17 Thread Pietro Albini
if they address a different issue, the venv package doesn't need to be
 installed by default.
But again, pyvenv isn't a separated thing from Python. Everywhere except in
Debian/Ubuntu, It's shipped with Python itself, since it's part of the standard
library.
If you need to install extra packages for the standard library, why we don't
have python3-json, python3-hashlib, python3-os and so on? All not installed by
default?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1290847] Re: pyvenv fails due to mising ensurepip module

2015-06-17 Thread Pietro Albini
I don't think the installation by default would be a good idea.
This is distro land, and I think we should promote using the distro packages.
People wanting to install venv and pip know how to do this.
But pyvenv is, since release 3.4, part of the Python standard library. It's not
a separated tool or something like that. It's like if the Python os module is
shipped in a separated package, and users must install it before importing it
in a program.
And I think that, for a module which is meant to be in the standard library,
but on Ubuntu you should install the python3-venv package before isn't a
great thing, is it?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1236749] Re: Gnome shell extensions disabled at every startup

2015-01-21 Thread Pietro Gagliardi (andlabs/pietro10)
The problem with this bug is that it doesn't exhibit itself consistently
or predictably.

On my previous laptop's Ubuntu GNOME 14.10 setup, reboots worked fine
until some point (a month after installing?), at which point this
behavior started happening... but only on a clean reboot. If I killed
power to my laptop by force instead, extensions would stay. (This
probably further confirms the hypothesis in bug 1385572.) The previous
laptop was a Dell Precision M6400 with a Core 2 Duo CPU and Quadro FX
2700M graphics. I forget if I tried nVidia drivers or not.

So far, I have not seen this happen with clean reboots on my current
laptop. It is a Lenovo G60-45 with the following combined CPU/GPU: AMD
A6-6310 APU with AMD Radeon R4 Graphics. I mainly use the AMD drivers
due to freezing issues with mesa; I forget if this happened with mesa as
well or not. This is still with Ubuntu GNOME 14.10.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1385572] Re: gnome-session not shutting down cleanly

2015-01-21 Thread Pietro Gagliardi (andlabs/pietro10)
I don't know how much this comment would contribute to this bug but I
can at least confirm that the behavior described here is a possible
reason why this is going on, as judged by my comment to bug 1236749
here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
shell/+bug/1236749/comments/77 Specifically, for me the bug only
occurred if I rebooted cleanly, but not if I forced the machine off.

We have had reports going back to 13.10 that gnome-shell extensions
are disabled after restart (LP: #1236749), I've only just managed to
reproduce this and have discovered that gnome-session is not shutting
  down cleanly.

Basically, X gets shutdown, which causes gnome-shell to abort,
following this gnome-session tries to respawn gnome-shell which fails
and due to this failure disables all shell extensions. I don't know
enough about upstart to really understand what is going on but it
appears this also affects unity and it just hasnt been noticed since
there are probably no such side-effects happening there.

Filing this against upstart since this is not reproducible when using
systemd init, though it may well be a bug in gnome-session, but
  related to upstart user sessions.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 202861] Re: nautilus hangs after network disconnect

2014-09-12 Thread Pietro Battiston
I am pretty sure the bug most of us are experiencing is
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=735953
which by the way was fixed in git.

So I'm reassigning from gvfs to gtk+3.0 .

The patch in comment 7:
https://bug735953.bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=285251
should really be adopted by distributors.

** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #735953
   https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=735953

** Package changed: gvfs (Ubuntu) = gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu)

  nautilus hangs after network disconnect

Status in nautilus-cd-burner:
  Fix Released
Status in “gtk+3.0” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “nautilus-cd-burner” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gvfs

  Release: Ubuntu Hardy amd64

  Gvfs version 0.2.0.1-0ubuntu2

When using Nautilus to browse on a remote location using sftp it hangs
after and while my network had a disconnection. Killing gvfs, gvfs-
sftp and nautilus is the only solution. It should give an error that
my network connection is unavailable instead.

  Steps to reproduce:
  * Start nautilus
  * Browse on a remove location using sftp
  * Disconnect your network
  * This causes nautilus to hang completely, killing gvfs, gvfs-sftp and
nautilus is the only solution

  * After a reconnect it sometimes get working again, and sometimes
  remains dead.

Title:
Dell Alienware 14, Speaker sound output is mono until a headphone jack
  is plugged

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Here's the required release and package information:

  Description:Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch)
  Release:14.04

  Package: linux-image-extra-3.13.0-19-generic
  Version: 3.13.0-19.40

When playing audio through speakers on my Alienware 14 2014, the sound
output is in mono until I plug a headphone in any of the two available
headphone jacks (obviously, the auto-mute option must be disabled).
When I do so, the sound starts to play in stereo.

I would love the sound output to be stereo by default and not be
forced to plug anything to achieve that.

Attached is the alsa-info.sh output for my machine.
