[Touch-packages] [Bug 1840725] Re: Microphone not working in Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS on new hp-spectre-x360-convertible-15 laptop

2019-09-02 Thread Rohan Paul
@hui.wang

Sorry for the late response.

I have now managed to make my headset mic work permanently. I had to add
the following line to the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf:

options snd-hda-intel model=alc295-hp-x360

However, after doing this, a week later my speakers stopped working and
I had to change some pin mappings using alsa-tools-gui: specifically I
used Pin 0x14 for Internal Speaker (LFE) and Pin 0x1e for Internal
Speaker.

So right now, my speakers work, my headset(mic + sound) works and only
my internal mic does not work.

I am still unable to run the dump program in Windows. However, I can
tell you that my laptop has Intel Smart Sound Technology(SST). I read
somewhere that Ubuntu still does not have proper support for that
although I may have misunderstood what I read. So I am not sure.

In alsamixer: Experimented with levels ranging from very low to very high for
Internal Mic, Capture, etc.
In pavucontrol: Set the Internal Mic as a fallback device, unlocked the

channels (reduced right mic level to Silence while keeping the left mic level
normal/high and vice versa).

Unfortunately, this has stopped working, ie. even when the headphone is
plugged in, the mic no longer works. Would really appreciate it if
anyone could help me with this problem. Will be happy to provide more
info if required.

Sorry, but this works only with my headset plugged in. If my headset is
not plugged in, then the mic again does not work. So #3 is a partial
solution.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1840725] Re: Microphone not working in Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS on new hp-spectre-x360-convertible-15 laptop

2019-08-20 Thread Rohan Paul
I managed to solve the issue by downloading the .deb file specified here
- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-
driver/+bug/1523100/comments/72. After installing it and then rebooting,
the mic started picking up sound.

NOTE: The complete solution involves:
1. setting the internal microphone to be mapped to the pin 0x12 using
alsa-tools-gui (hdajackretask) and then rebooting
2. Downloading and installing the .deb file mentioned above and then rebooting.

Pin 0x13 does not work as well. Overriding pin 0x13 to use the Internal
Mic causes an undesirable side-effect of static noise in any plugged in
headphone.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1025388] Re: Internal mic stops working when plugging in headphones

2017-07-21 Thread rohan dandage
Same issue as #17, when I connect my headphone with combo jack (works
great with other devices) to laptop with ubuntu 16.04.

In PulseAudio volume control gui, in 'Input devices' tab, it shows that
internal microphone is 'unplugged' and microphone (external, from combo
headset) is 'plugged in'. But it does not work!

So as I find out that the combo headset clearly does not work due to
lack of drivers, there should be a workaround to let users use the
internal mic instead.

PS: This issue has been for 5 long year (see #1 above), somebody please
do something. If we have commonplace headset with combo jack and and
recent laptops with combo port, we evidently can't use ubuntu for video
chatting. That's quite a downfall.

Internal mic stops working when plugging in headphones

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I am currently running Quantal and when I plug headphones into my
headphone socket (which has an icon of a headset next to it, so I
presume it can take some kind of headset), the internal mic on my

  works as normal.

mic, and the other I think has a mic too).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1463209] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.04 fails to resume afer suspend

2015-06-08 Thread Rohan Henry
Public bug reported:

Since installing Ubuntu 14.04 in December 2014, I have always placed my Lenovo
laptop in Suspend mode for days without shutting down and have been able to
open resume to the login screen without an issue. The past 2 days I have tried
to resume from Suspend and just end up with no video on my screen. The lights
on the laptop show that it is no longer in Suspend mode, but the screen appears
as if the laptop is off. I do a hard restart/reboot and when I log in I am
presented with a Report Bug option (I have reported the 2 times this occurred).
The error is ExecutablePath: /usr/share/apport/apportcheckresume

I have apport 2.14.1 I am unsure what is causing this now and how to
repair.

Bug description:
I am using Scribus 1.4.2 on Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 with the locale ku_TR,
which uses roman script, and arabic numbers like 123456789.

All numbers in Scribus are displayed in Arabic-Indic numerals like
٠١٢٣٤٥٦٧٨٩ . For people who are not used to these numerals, Scribus
  becomes practically unusable.

This is independent from the user interface language of Scribus.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1413159] Re: kscreenlock incompatible with CJK input

2015-01-21 Thread Rohan Garg
Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the
KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate
your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at
https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this
speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more
effective debugging.

Thanks!

Title:
  kscreenlock incompatible with CJK input

Status in qt4-x11 package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
If KDE screen is locked with CJK input system active, password input
is no longer possible, since there is no way to change the input
method (default keyboard shortcut would be ctrl + space) from a
locked screen. Hence a password named password would then become
ぱっすぉrd. And since these two strings obviously do jot match, login is
  no longer possible.

Status in digiKam - digital photo management:
  Won't Fix
Status in SQLite:
  Won't Fix
Status in “digikam” package in Ubuntu:

Status in “sqlite3” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Please update sqlite to a version 3.8.2.

  According to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329697 sqlite3 version
3.8.2 causes crashes in digikam (and possibly other software) in various
situations. Several reports confirm, that versions 3.8.2 fix the issue.
I'm using the 3.8.4.3 package from debian testing right now and can't trigger
crashes anymore.

  Workaround:
Install sqlite3 3.8.2, e.g. you can manually install the corresponding deb
packages from either utopic or debian.
