Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1398537] Re: gdebi 0.9.5.3 crashing

2018-12-04 Thread slumbergod
I tried it recently with xubuntu 18.04.1 and the gui still crashes.
I uninstalled gdebi and went back to dpkg from the command line.
I will try again on the next LTS release.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1756238] Re: gdebi-gtk broken in 18.04 error: unable to read filedescriptor flags

2018-08-03 Thread slumbergod
I just did a clean install of Xubuntu 18.04.1 and then installed gdebi and its
frontend.
The interface crashes for me so it hasn't been fixed. The back-end might work
from the command line but the gui is broken.

When using gdebi-gtk to install a .deb the install fails with the

dpkg: error: unable to read filedescriptor flags for : Bad file descriptor

This only occurs via the gdebi-gtk GUI front end, packages install perfectly
if done via the CLI with:
  sudo gdebi /path/to/packagename.deb

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1398537] [NEW] gdebi 0.9.5.3 crashing

2014-12-02 Thread slumbergod
Public bug reported:

Using gdebi 0.9.5.3-ubuntu2
and gdebi-core 0.9.5.3-ubuntu2
on Trusty 14.10

I tried upgrading the two packages to the 14.10 versions using dpkg and
they installed fine but the same crash happened.

I'm not sure what is going on. I right click an application (like the
official release debi of Teamviewer) and gdebi starts up, begins its
scan, then terminates. I think it is failing during its scan for
dependencies.

I tried reporting this using ubuntu-bug in a terminal but that didn't
work so I am not sure how to get all the required supported
applications.

Is anyone else experiencing this crash? Suggestions? I don't use gdebi
much but it is more convenient that firing up a terminal window and
typing dpkg everytime I want to install a package.
