When I mouse over them, the icons for those buttons tend to disappear and only show the name of the window I have open. I've tried: metacity --replace That does not load the launcher or panel. I've also tried: unity --replace However, those commands only result in the screenshot I attached, which shows that the close, minimize, and maximize buttons are frozen and still unclickable. Restarting my computer fixes the issue, but being unable to suspend my laptop is unacceptable. I am using Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS. I have a Thinkpad T430 with the following specs: Intel Core i5-3320M 16GB RAM NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [NVS 5400M] (rev ff) This bug also occurs on my System76 PanP7 laptop, which has the following specs: Core i7-620M Processor 8GB RAM ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 I am using unity package 5.18.0-0ubuntu2. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version.
