[Touch-packages] [Bug 1242666] Re: Standalone labels as an element distinct from group headers
For group headers, yes, one reasonable design would be the same as standalone labels but bold. However, a different reasonable design would be using small caps and a different color. Whatever the design is, the theme designer should be able to change the style of all group headers at once, without affecting standalone labels. This suggests to me that it should be a separate element. If this was HTML, an intro label would be p.../p, while a group header would be h2.../h2. People sometimes use pb.../b/p for headings, but that's a bad idea because it's hard to restyle them later. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-ui-toolkit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242666 Title: Standalone labels as an element distinct from group headers Status in Ubuntu UI Toolkit: Confirmed Status in “ubuntu-ui-toolkit” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The toolkit currently lacks a standalone label element. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1242666] Re: Standalone labels as an element distinct from group headers
Besides naming and intention, what is the difference between a group Header and an intro label? To me they look the same (we may have to update the font-weight and color), so app developers can use the ListItem.Header for this purpose? Naming of the component can be discussed of course (although we won't remove the Header so we don't break existing apps) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-ui-toolkit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242666 Title: Standalone labels as an element distinct from group headers Status in “ubuntu-ui-toolkit” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The toolkit currently lacks a standalone label element. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1242666] Re: Standalone labels as an element distinct from group headers
List items have a property highlightWhenPressed to prevent the visual highlight when tapped. We have a ListItem.Header component which looks like what you are looking for, except that it makes the text look bold. If this is the only visual difference, we should consider making the font-weight a parameter instead of introducing a new component for this. ** Also affects: ubuntu-ui-toolkit Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ubuntu-ui-toolkit Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: ubuntu-ui-toolkit Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-ui-toolkit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242666 Title: Standalone labels as an element distinct from group headers Status in Ubuntu UI Toolkit: Confirmed Status in “ubuntu-ui-toolkit” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The toolkit currently lacks a standalone label element.
