This is due to https://github.com/keithw/mosh/issues/196
Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS has a sufficiently old enough version of mosh that it
is still affected by that bug.
Can this be updated in 12.04 LTS?

bash: ulimit: core file size: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted
$ grep core /etc/security/limits.conf
#- core - limits the core file size (KB)
* hardcoreunlimited
* softcoreunlimited
#roothardcore10
$ ulimit -S -c unlimited
$
$ ulimit -a | grep core
core file size (blocks, -c) 0
$ cat /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern
|/usr/share/apport/apport %p %s %c
