[Touch-packages] [Bug 1456112] Re: Phone doesn't use WiFi DNS when also connected to cell
This looks like a duplicate of bug 1270189. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1456112 Title: Phone doesn't use WiFi DNS when also connected to cell Status in Canonical System Image: New Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but I couldn't find it and wasn't sure what package would cover it so opted for system-settings. It is a fairly specific bug given not everyone will be using BT wifi, but probably the issue will arise with other ISPs. When I turn on wifi at home, my phone connects to the Hub fine but Web access is limited because the phone continues to use the DNS settings from the cell network (I think). I get an error from BT about using external DNS rather than those it supplies (required for the child filter). I haven't tried disabling the filters yet but I could I suppose. If I turn on flight mode and then re-enable wifi everything works fine but then I don't get phone calls, etc. of course. Turing off flight mode breaks stuff again. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1270189 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1270189 @Robie Basak - yes. Sounds like the same thing. This was not fixed by the 15.04 OTA. As I've only one phone I ended up flashing BQ's Android image to my Aquaris E4.5 (Ubuntu Edition) now so cannot test further. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1270189 Ubuntu Touch devices are using cellular DNS servers over wifi connection -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1456112 Title: Phone doesn't use WiFi DNS when also connected to cell Status in Canonical System Image: New Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but I couldn't find it and wasn't sure what package would cover it so opted for system-settings. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1456112] Re: Phone doesn't use WiFi DNS when also connected to cell
Thanks replying and apologies for the delay - busy week! Finally found some time to dig out the log (learning a thing or two about adb on the way which has been good). I whittled it down to what I hope are the important parts - shows connecting to Vodafone then BT WiFi. Looks like both nameservers are there but it still didn't work connecting to various Web pages. ** Attachment added: log file as requested https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1456112/+attachment/4404307/+files/bug_1456112_syslog.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1456112 Title: Phone doesn't use WiFi DNS when also connected to cell Status in the base for Ubuntu mobile products: New Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but I couldn't find it and wasn't sure what package would cover it so opted for system-settings. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1456112] Re: Phone doesn't use WiFi DNS when also connected to cell
Could you attach /var/log/syslog from the phone when it's connected to both wifi and 3G? We should be able to know from there whether it includes all the nameservers it should. From there, it's up to whichever responds faster among all the nameservers, which will be used. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1456112 Title: Phone doesn't use WiFi DNS when also connected to cell Status in the base for Ubuntu mobile products: New Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but I couldn't find it and wasn't sure what package would cover it so opted for system-settings.
