[Touch-packages] [Bug 1564416] Re: [VGN-FS315B, Realtek ALC260, Green Line Out, Front] No sound at all - Sony Vaio

2016-04-15 Thread paulosimones
Comment by the author of the bug report:

Taking cue from Raymond's comments I managed to get sound from the
Realtek circuits. I used "sudo hdajackretask" to change the pins'
assignments. The whole procedure is easy though a bit elaborate, but I
do not know how to write a permanent programmatic fix. If xenial's
developers do not manage to solve the problem in some weeks time and I
find someone asking for help in askubuntu, I will post there my complete
solution.

Comment by the author of the bug report:

Plugging or unplugging the headphone does not change anything in the
output of command hdajacksensetest -a. Neither there is any sound on the
headphone nor on the built-in loudspeaker.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1564416] Re: [VGN-FS315B, Realtek ALC260, Green Line Out, Front] No sound at all - Sony Vaio

2016-04-05 Thread Raymond
The point is laptop should have speaker pin, line out at sep mean dock
line out

Pulseaudio rely on the jack state of headphone to select active port and
mute/unmute

You have to provide out put of

 hdajacksensetest -a

to find out which node is headphone

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1564416] Re: [VGN-FS315B, Realtek ALC260, Green Line Out, Front] No sound at all - Sony Vaio

2016-04-05 Thread paulosimones
Comment by the author of the bug report:

Today, 6/4/16. Upon ubuntu's notice of Linux Kernel 4.4.0-17
availability, I proceeded immediately to upgrade xenial. On restarting
the computer the built-in sound device went anew mute. I do not know
enough about the workings of alsa to give good advice, but I suspect the
problem may lie with the kernel.

Title:
[VGN-FS315B, Realtek ALC260, Green Line Out, Front] No sound at all -
  Sony Vaio

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Release Ubuntu 16.04
Bug (probably) in Alsa package - unity-control-center
15.04.0+16.04.20160315-0ubuntu1
I expected to hear sound from the built-in sound device.
But there was no sound at all.

  This bug is a sort of regression. The problem was happening before;
some days ago it disappeared (probably it was fixed); and now happens
  again.
