[Touch-packages] [Bug 622477] Re: [ICH4 - Intel ICH5] PA test tone failed (alsa tone succeeded)
[Expired for pulseaudio (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/622477 Title: [ICH4 - Intel ICH5] PA test tone failed (alsa tone succeeded) Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Binary package hint: pulseaudio === Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Release: 10.04 === pulseaudio: Installed: 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu14 Candidate: 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu14 Version table: *** 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu14 0 500 cdrom://Ubuntu 10.04 LTS _Lucid Lynx_ - Release i386 (20100427.1)/ lucid/main Packages 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status === I expected the audio to work. === The audio only works on boot-up (the drumbeat at the login screen). It does not work for any application once logged in. During the sound test, the first phase of testing worked (I heard the tone), but the second did not. The automatic bug title was "[ICH4 - Intel ICH5] PA test tone failed (alsa tone succeeded)", so I assume that it is a problem with PulseAudio. Whether this really is a bug or a hardware compatibility issue, I don't know. But I do have sound on Debian and Fedora, which are installed on the same machine, but different partitions, though it is a bit jumpy and does go out from time to time. I do believe there are some hardware issues between ALSA or PulseAudio and my integrated audio hardware.
