Title:
  maverick upgrade error: /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/iscan failed
  with return 1

Status in initramfs-tools package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: initramfs-tools

While attempting to upgrade a Lucid system to the Maverick beta, some
sort of error occurred during the upgrade process. When I tried to
complete the upgrade, I got errors which appear to point to a problem
in initramfs-tools. I retried the upgrade by hand (aptitude safe-
upgrade), but the errors persist. I'm attaching a full copy of the
"aptitude" output, but here is a hopefully salient sample:

  Setting up linux-image-2.6.35-19-generic (2.6.35-19.28) ...
  Running depmod.
  update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.35-19-generic
  E: /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/iscan failed with return 1.
  update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-2.6.35-19-generic
  Failed to create initrd image.
  dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.35-19-generic (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
