Title:
GA-MA785GM-US2H onboard audio deficient - mic not working

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: pulseaudio

My onboard audio card doesn't seem to function properly. I do have
good sound for most applications such as Flash, applications
virtualized in VirtualBox, games (Frozen Bubble, Flightgear), SCUMMVM
games (Flight of the Amazon Queen, Beneath a Steel Sky), and wine'd
applications (Pokerstars, Steam, Counterstrike). However, the
microphone doesn't record any input and using an application like
WebCamStudio to try and stream a video has very faint sound - I have
to turn up the volume all the way to hear it slightly and if I were to
play a Youtube video at the same volume setting it would be unbearably
loud. I can connect a microphone, speak into it, and hear my voice in
the speaker output, clearly. However, if I use Sound Recorder I
cannot record my voice as I speak into the microphone. Sound Recorder
seems to be selecting any internal audio to record instead. For
example, I can play a Youtube video or use one of the aforementioned
applications and Sound Recorder will record their audio.

Some applications who's sound does not work are SuperTuxCart, and
  Chromium.

This is how the device is identified:

00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)

Under System -> Preferences -> Sound I choose the profile "Analog
Stereo Duplex". I can choose other profiles but it doesn't change the
output level of anything in WebCamStudio or SuperTuxCard and Chromium.
Please let me know if there is any information I can provide to help
  troubleshoot this issue.
