Title: [NFORCE - NVidia CK804] no microphone-in after 10.04 to 10.10 upgrade Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: * Worked fine pretty much from Ubuntu 6.06 through 10.04. * Now I have sound playback(xrunny somewhat) but no microphone in at all. Verified with multiple recording programs. * Tried alsa force-reloading (which used to work way back when) * alsamixer selecting mic no luck. * There are plugs for audio on the front and back but the front ones aren't connected to the motherboard whereas the back ones are. It's entirely possible that the wrong mic is selected internally somewhere. * The best sound setting is the 7.1 surround although I tend to use just stereo headphones & a mic. hemusicgod1@fwtaylor:~$ arecord -l **** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices **** card 0: CK804 [NVidia CK804], device 0: Intel ICH [NVidia CK804] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: CK804 [NVidia CK804], device 1: Intel ICH - MIC ADC [NVidia CK804 - MIC ADC] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 themusicgod1@fwtaylor:~$ pactl list | grep -A2 alsa Name: module-alsa-card Argument: device_id="0" name="pci-0000_00_04.0" card_name="alsa_card.pci-0000_00_04.0" tsched=yes ignore_dB=no card_properties="module-udev-detect.discovered=1" Usage counter: 3 Properties: -- Name: alsa_output.pci-0000_00_04.0.analog-surround-71 Description: Internal Audio Analog Surround 7.1 Driver: module-alsa-card.c Sample Specification: s16le 8ch 48000Hz Channel Map: front-left,front-right,rear-left,rear-right,front-center,lfe,side-left,side-right -- Monitor Source: alsa_output.pci-0000_00_04.0.analog-surround-71.monitor Latency: 25844 usec, configured 26000 usec Flags: HARDWARE HW_MUTE_CTRL HW_VOLUME_CTRL DECIBEL_VOLUME LATENCY -- alsa.resolution_bits = "16" device.api = "alsa" device.class = "sound" alsa.class = "generic" alsa.subclass = "generic-mix" alsa.name = "NVidia CK804" alsa.id = "Intel ICH" alsa.subdevice = "0" alsa.subdevice_name = "subdevice #0" alsa.device = "0" alsa.card = "0" alsa.card_name = "NVidia CK804" alsa.long_card_name = "NVidia CK804 with ALC850 at irq 22" alsa.driver_name = "snd_intel8x0" device.bus_path = "pci-0000:00:04.0" sysfs.path = "/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:04.0/sound/card0" -- alsa.mixer_name = "Realtek ALC850 rev 0" alsa.components = "AC97a:414c4790" module-udev-detect.discovered = "1" device.icon_name = "audio-card-pci" -- Name: alsa_input.pci-0000_00_04.0.analog-stereo Description: Internal Audio Analog Stereo Driver: module-alsa-card.c Sample Specification: s16le 2ch 48000Hz Channel Map: front-left,front-right -- alsa.resolution_bits = "16" device.api = "alsa" device.class = "sound" alsa.class = "generic" alsa.subclass = "generic-mix" alsa.name = "NVidia CK804" alsa.id = "Intel ICH" alsa.subdevice = "0" alsa.subdevice_name = "subdevice #0" alsa.device = "0" alsa.card = "0" alsa.card_name = "NVidia CK804" alsa.long_card_name = "NVidia CK804 with ALC850 at irq 22" alsa.driver_name = "snd_intel8x0" device.bus_path = "pci-0000:00:04.0" sysfs.path = "/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:04.0/sound/card0" -- alsa.mixer_name = "Realtek ALC850 rev 0" alsa.components = "AC97a:414c4790" module-udev-detect.discovered = "1" device.icon_name = "audio-card-pci" -- Name: alsa_output.pci-0000_00_04.0.analog-surround-71.monitor Description: Monitor of Internal Audio Analog Surround 7.1 Driver: module-alsa-card.c Sample Specification: s16le 8ch 48000Hz Channel Map: front-left,front-right,rear-left,rear-right,front-center,lfe,side-left,side-right -- Monitor of Sink: alsa_output.pci-0000_00_04.0.analog-surround-71 Latency: 0 usec, configured 26000 usec Flags: DECIBEL_VOLUME LATENCY -- alsa.card = "0" alsa.card_name = "NVidia CK804" alsa.long_card_name = "NVidia CK804 with ALC850 at irq 22" alsa.driver_name = "snd_intel8x0" device.bus_path = "pci-0000:00:04.0" sysfs.path = "/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:04.0/sound/card0" -- application.process.binary = "gnome-alsamixer" application.language = "en_CA.UTF-8" application.process.machine_id = "e2e7837e6d7d6dc55a62c2d0498de163" -- application.icon_name = "/usr/share/pixmaps/gnome-alsamixer/gnome-alsamixer-icon.png" Client #76 -- application.process.binary = "gnome-alsamixer" application.language = "en_CA.UTF-8" application.process.machine_id = "e2e7837e6d7d6dc55a62c2d0498de163" -- application.icon_name = "/usr/share/pixmaps/gnome-alsamixer/gnome-alsamixer-icon.png" Card #0 Name: alsa_card.pci-0000_00_04.0 Driver: module-alsa-card.c Owner Module: 4 Properties: alsa.card = "0" alsa.card_name = "NVidia CK804" alsa.long_card_name = "NVidia CK804 with ALC850 at irq 22" alsa.driver_name = "snd_intel8x0" device.bus_path = "pci-0000:00:04.0" sysfs.path = "/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:04.0/sound/card0" $ uname -a Linux fwtaylor 2.6.35-24-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 2 02:41:37 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: alsa-base 1.0.23+dfsg-1ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-24.42-generic 2.6.35.8 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-24-generic x86_64 AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.
