Title:
System freezes when playing audio for a longer time

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: pulseaudio

When playing music for a longer period of time (>1h) or watching a
movie, I've experienced twice now that suddenly CPU Usage will go up
to 100%, the mouse cursor will only skip around the screen when moving
it - any further action (starting a terminal, move to another desktop)
will completely freeze the system, so that it won't even respond to
SysRq keys - while the audio plays on in a loop. (last two seconds of
  the audio or so)

While I'm not sure if this is exactly a pulseaudio bug, pulseaudio was the
application that hinted me to file a bugreport in /var/log/syslog for
snd_hda_intel, but there is no package for that.
While there is no log entry for the time of the freeze, I get a lot of these:

  Jan 23 14:59:06 piBook pulseaudio[1418]: alsa-util.c: snd_pcm_avail_delay()
returned strange values: delay 0 is less than avail 112.
  Jan 23 14:59:06 piBook pulseaudio[1418]: alsa-util.c: Most likely this is a
bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_hda_intel'. Please report this issue to the ALSA
developers.
