Title:
HP pavilion dv6500 sound card not detected

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Hello,

I've just installed Ubunutu, and have no sound.
The sound control buttons on the laptopt appear to be working – volume bar
increases and decreases after pressing them, but there's no sound.

I've done the steps at https://help.ubuntu.com/11.10/ubuntu-help
/sound-nosound.html, and it seems that my sound card is not detected.
I have this laptop for a long time alreadyt so I don't know and can't
find the name of the sound card.

The sound actually dissapeared a few months ago. I was using opensuse
11 then. Sometimes the sound would come back for a few minutes, and
dissapear again. I was hoping that a new operating system might solve
it. Sound worked during the instalation process though.

I realise that there similar bug reports, but they are all quite old,
so I decided to make a new one. Sorry if that's not the right thing to
  do.

  Thank you for your help,

  Andrius
