Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017. See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling us which new version it is in. ** Package changed: wayland (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to freetype in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/983220 Title: subpixel rendering doesn't respect screen rotation Status in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in freetype package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: 1) Open gnome-terminal 2) xrandr --output default --rotate inverted 2) Open another gnome-terminal In both the original and the new terminal, text has red and blue "shadows" caused by subpixel rendering that doesn't match up to the inverted pixel layout resulting from the screen being flipped 180 degrees. [Touch-packages] [Bug 983220] Re: subpixel rendering doesn't respect screen rotation
You should file the bug against rendering libraries and/or toolkits like GTK, because FreeType only provides the facilities for horizontal and vertical subpixel rendering, the rendering system has to keep track of the screen orientation by itself. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to freetype in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/983220 Title: subpixel rendering doesn't respect screen rotation Status in freetype package in Ubuntu: New Status in wayland package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: 1) Open gnome-terminal 2) xrandr --output default --rotate inverted 2) Open another gnome-terminal In both the original and the new terminal, text has red and blue "shadows" caused by subpixel rendering that doesn't match up to the inverted pixel layout resulting from the screen being flipped 180 degrees. [Touch-packages] [Bug 983220] Re: subpixel rendering doesn't respect screen rotation
I confirm that this still is an issue with ubuntu 14.04. If I select RGBA for subpixel I get blurry fonts when the screen in inverted. This is not an issue if I select grayscale for subpixel. I can run further tests if needed. All the best. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to freetype in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/983220 Title: subpixel rendering doesn't respect screen rotation Status in “freetype” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “wayland” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: 1) Open gnome-terminal 2) xrandr --output default --rotate inverted 2) Open another gnome-terminal In both the original and the new terminal, text has red and blue "shadows" caused by subpixel rendering that doesn't match up to the inverted pixel layout resulting from the screen being flipped 180 degrees.
