[Touch-packages] [Bug 1566878] Re: Alt-backtick regression
I narrowed this down by doing a bisect dist-upgrade with disk snapshots. I.e. take a snapshot, manually upgrade a few packages, reboot, test, rinse, repeat. The only packages left are the three binary packages mentioned in the bug report. With the snapshot before upgrading those packages, Alt-backtick works. I've verified that after upgrading just these three, the regression occurs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566878 Title: Alt-backtick regression Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: dist-upgrading to xorg-server (source package) 2:1.18.3-1ubuntu1 (binary packages xserver-common, xserver-xorg-core, xvfb) introduces a regression for Alt-backtick switching between windows of the same application. Before the upgrade, Alt-backtick works by showing you the switcher and letting you cycle between multiple windows of the same application. After the upgrade, Alt-backtick does nothing. I've learned a bit more about the udev events/cookies for sdX and lvm volumes. 1) The sdX add events happen, for multiple devices. Each device consumes 1 udev worker. 2) The sdX add events run 'watershed .. vgchange -a y...'. If this detects an LVM volume in sdX, it will try to activate it, and then block/wait for the respective LVM/udev cookie to complete (i.e., wait for the LVM dm-X device add event to finish) 3) The dm-X device add event is fired from the kernel. 4) There are no available udev workers to process it. The event processing remains queued. Thus, the cookie will not be released. 5) No udev workers from sdX devices will finish, since all are waiting for cookies to be complete, which demand available udev workers. == Comment: #21 - Mauricio Faria De Oliveira - 2016-03-22 18:02:11 == Got a confirmation of the previous hypothesis. Added the --noudevsync argument to the vgchange command in the initramfs's /lib/udev/rules.d/85-lvm2.rules. This causes vgchange not to wait for an udev cookie. Things didn't block, actually finished quite fast. == Comment: #23 - Mauricio Faria De Oliveira - 2016-03-22 18:14:41 == Hi Canonical, May you please help in finding a solution to this problem? If I recall correctly, @pitti works w/ udev and early boot in general. The problem summary (from previous comments) is: 1) There are more SCSI disks w/ LVM volumes

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1556457] Re: [FFe] Demilight (OS/2 weight=350) confuses fontconfig
I discussed that with Gunnar and Sèbastien on IRC. Given the known regressions with 2.11.1 and the backported patch and that .94 has been used for a while in other distros and that most changes are bug fixes, we agreed to go ahead with the update. Still risky, but Gunnar will send out a call for testing, and if we find regressions we can revert back to 2.11.1 and revisit that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to fontconfig in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1556457 Title: [FFe] Demilight (OS/2 weight=350) confuses fontconfig Status in Fontconfig: Fix Released Status in fontconfig package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in fontconfig package in Debian: Unknown Bug description: [FFe request comment] Upgrading to fontconfig 2.11.94 is proposed as a fix of this bug, including a fix of certain font weight issues due to the switch from fonts-droid to fonts-noto-cjk for Chinese (discussed at bug #1468027) where we haven't found any way to work around the problem. The proposed upload is available in this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj/+archive/ubuntu/fontconfig-test2 Changes are listed in the attachment upstream_git-log.txt [Original description including updates] See https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81453 and bug 1468027. Fontconfig lacks support for many OpenType/TrueType OS/2 font weight values. This causes a bunch of problems, like mixing up Demilight (weight=350) and Regular (weight=400). Although it's possible to write (dirty?) hacks for deb-packed fonts, this still causes problems for otherwise sourced fonts. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1556457] Re: [FFe] Demilight (OS/2 weight=350) confuses fontconfig
** Changed in: fontconfig (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to fontconfig in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1556457 Title: [FFe] Demilight (OS/2 weight=350) confuses fontconfig Status in Fontconfig: Fix Released Status in fontconfig package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in fontconfig package in Debian: Unknown Bug description: [FFe request comment] Upgrading to fontconfig 2.11.94 is proposed as a fix of this bug, including a fix of certain font weight issues due to the switch from fonts-droid to fonts-noto-cjk for Chinese (discussed at bug #1468027) where we haven't found any way to work around the problem. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1566952] [NEW] Push method for filters should be updated
Public bug reported: The push(filters, filterState) method should be marked deprecated. The doc for this method should be updated to say it's only useful for the UI or for clients (aggregator scopes) and sending modified filterState back to the UI has no effect. A new overloaded push method that only takes filters should be added. ** Affects: unity-scopes-api (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity-scopes-api in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566952 Title: Push method for filters should be updated Status in unity-scopes-api package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The push(filters, filterState) method should be marked deprecated.
