[Touch-packages] [Bug 1531184] Re: [SRU] dnsmasq doesn't start on boot because its interface isn't up yet

2019-09-22 Thread Benjamin Bach
The fix by Terrence Houlahan works for me on 18.04. Thanks!

However, I'm wondering if adding this "After" clause is a problem since
the package doesn't currently depend on Network Manager? Does
"NetworkManager-wait-online.service" satisfy a more generic SystemD
target?

>From the dnsmasq package:

Depends: netbase, dnsmasq-base,
 init-system-helpers (>= 1.18~), lsb-base (>= 3.0-6)

[SRU] dnsmasq doesn't start on boot because its interface isn't up yet

Bug description:
  [Impact]
dnsmasq will fail to respond on network devices that weren't up when its
service started, thus not binding as expected.

  [Test Case]
  TBD

  [Regression Potential]
The fix is just configuring the order of service startup, so is unlikely to
create any regressions. Things to watch would be service related misbehaviors
and general availability of the dnsmasq functionality.

  [Fix]
Straightforward packaging fix to the service to make it delay startup
until after the network is online.

  [Original Report]
My dnsmasq instance uses "interface=br-vz0" and the interface br-vz0 is
managed manually in /etc/network/interfaces.

During boot, dnsmasq is started before br-vz0 is created and this
  causes dnsmasq to exit:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1844933] [NEW] screen jitter after long idle

2019-09-22 Thread Alex Tu
Public bug reported:

It's 1st time happens on my xps13 9380 with bionic + oem kernel 4.15.0-1056-oem.
I have updated to 1056 from 1050 for several days, this issue not happens for
these days and not experienced it on 1050 as well. So, looks it's just randomly
happens or I can not find a static way to reproduce it.

I also not sure if unattended upgrade bring in some regression.

So, my plan would be
1. do apt full-upgrade, and if it still can be reproduce then.
2. try mainline kernel

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1844934] Re: screen jitter after long idle

2019-09-22 Thread Alex Tu
from the apt history log, it looks not something fishy as well.

BTW, the only package I installed these 2 days is multipass snap package.
I use it to run a bionc VM to test TLP behavior.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1844853] Re: IBus no longer works in Qt applications after upgrade

2019-09-22 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
The problem is not bionic specific (ibus 1.5.17). Myself has confirmed
it both on 19.04 (with ibus 1.5.19) and 19.10 (with ibus 1.5.21).

So the upstream commit which was backported breaks Qt, and AFAIK the
problem hasn't been resolved upstream yet.

Title:
IBus no longer works in Qt applications after upgrade

Status in ibus:
  New
Status in ibus package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Kubuntu Release 18.04.3 LTS

  Expected behavior:
ibus continues working as before after applying security update
1.5.17-ubuntu5.1 from version 1.5.17-ubuntu5.

  Observed behavior:
ibus is not usable anymore in Qt applications.

After updating ibus and the related packages ibus-gtk, ibus-gtk3,
libibus-1.0-5 and gir1.2-ibus-1.0 all from version 1.5.17-ubuntu5 to
1.5.17-ubuntu5.1, I can no longer use ibus in Qt applications. Using
shift-space no longer changes the selected input method and even when i switch
to the mozc input method in a gtk application, i can not use it in any Qt
applications.
When starting qtconfig in a terminal, I also get the following message:

  Bus::open: Connect ibus failed!
  IBusInputContext::createInputContext: no connection to ibus-daemon

This bug was not present in version 1.5.17-3ubuntu5 and I also
confirmed that downgrading the packages to version 1.5.17-3ubuntu4
restores ibus functionality in Qt applications.

For details on the mass rebuild see:

Please fix libunity at your earliest convenience and set the bug's status to
ASSIGNED when you start fixing it. If the bug remains in NEW state for 8 weeks,
libunity will be orphaned. Before branching of Fedora 32,
libunity will be retired, if it still fails to build.

Title:
DNS Settings for VPN connections don't work for split tunnel settings

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Hi,

with the update from 18.04 to 19.04 the network-manager stopped being
able to set DNS settings for VPN connections where the checkbox "use
this connection only for resources on its network" is not checked.

  Without the checkbox:
  Link 17 (tun0)
Current Scopes: DNS
  DefaultRoute setting: yes
 LLMNR setting: yes
  MulticastDNS setting: no
DNSOverTLS setting: no
DNSSEC setting: no
  DNSSEC supported: no
Current DNS Server: 192.168.xx.xx
   DNS Servers: 192.168.xx.xx
192.168.xx.xx
DNS Domain: ~.

  with the checkbox set:
  Link 18 (tun0)
Current Scopes: none
  DefaultRoute setting: no
 LLMNR setting: yes
  MulticastDNS setting: no
DNSOverTLS setting: no
DNSSEC setting: no
  DNSSEC supported: no

Nothing else - other than this checkbox changed.

Unfortunately without the checkbox I lose my internet connection, as
this VPN is not set up to forward internet.

  ii network-manager-openvpn 1.8.10-1
  ii network-manager-openvpn-gnome 1.8.10-1
  ii openvpn-systemd-resolved 1.2.7-1

I'm attaching a record of what I hear when I play a track from

  I created two reports.

One during a Spotify playing, when it is crackling and after the sound

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1843490] Re: lxc.cgroup.devices.allow prevents unprivileged container from starting

2019-09-22 Thread linas
So is there a workaround? In my case, I'm trying to access an OpenCL gpu
from a userland container. I was assuming that the below might be
enough.

lxc.mount.entry = /dev/dri/card1 dev/dri/card1 none bind,optional,create=file
lxc.mount.entry = /dev/dri/renderD128 dev/dri/renderD128 none
bind,optional,create=file

lxc.cgroup.devices.allow = c 226:* rwm

The mounts work (although owned by nobody:nobody instead of root:video)
and the devices cgroup stanza in the config file generates the container
boot error, as described above. The mounts are not enough to get opencl
access in the container: running "clinfo" (the opencl diagnostic) in the
container doesn't find the devices (I presume because of ... well,
something to do with /dev/dri but don't really know)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1724919] Re: Bluetooth headphones only use A2DP when connected manually

2019-09-22 Thread DooMMasteR
I am also affected, same solution as for other, I simply need to
reconnect from the UI.

The same headset works fine on Android, Windows, Mac OS, iOS and even my
cheap DAB-Receiver can stream to it via A2DP right away.

For me the issue exists since 18.4 and is still present in 18.10.

I am using the Sony WH-1000XM2.

Bluetooth headphones only use A2DP when connected manually

Bug description:
Issue with Sony MDR-1ABT Bluetooth headphones:
Once paired, the headphones will be connected automatically whenever they are
switched on. However when connected this way, only the HSP/HFP profile will
work and trying to change to A2DP in sound settings does nothing.
If the headphones are then manually disconnected and reconnected from
Bluetooth settings, they will initially use HSP/HFP but then selecting A2DP in
sound settings will successfully make them use A2DP.
