[Touch-packages] [Bug 1775392] Re: at-spi-bus-launcher makes Xorg crash when resuming from suspend

bugzilla is deprecated, if that's still happening it would be better to
open a new report on https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/at-

Title:
at-spi-bus-launcher makes Xorg crash when resuming from suspend

Status in at-spi2-core package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
If at-spi2-core is installed, when resuming from suspend messages like
these are logged in systemd journal:

at-spi-bus-launcher[31720]: XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily
unavailable) on X server ":0.0"
  at-spi-bus-launcher[31720]: after 8065 requests (8065 known processed)
with 0 events remaining.

The number of requests vary, it can reach more than 15000. Depending
on the number of requests, the Xorg server crashes with SIGBUS.
Depending on the exact moment Xorg crashes, when lightdm manages to
recover, it shows a login greeter, or worst case scenario, it can't
recover, a black screen is shown and the desptop session doesn't
  start.

It took me a long time to discover the cause. The visible symptom was:
once in a while when resuming from suspend, I got a login greeter
instead of an unlock greeter, or a black screen which forced me to
power down. Investigating, I found out that whenever that happened,
there was a Xorg core left behind. Looking at the journal messages
before the crash, there was always that flood of at-spi2-core
requests. So I uninstalled at-spi2-core and Xorg never crashed
  anymore.

This is a quite severe bug, which makes it impossible to use at-
  spi2-core.

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04
  Package: at-spi2-core (not installed)
  ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-22.24-generic 4.15.17

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1903048] Re: [SRU] Bluetooth won't activate on the pi 400

Could you open a new report about the regression using 'ubuntu-bug
bluez'?

Title:
[SRU] Bluetooth won't activate on the pi 400

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged
Status in bluez source package in Groovy:
  Fix Released
Status in bluez source package in Hirsute:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  [Impact]

Without these patches, Bluetooth is inoperable on the recently
  released Raspberry Pi 400.

  [Test Case]

  * Boot the Ubuntu Desktop for Pi image on a Pi 400.
  * Start the Settings application and switch to the Bluetooth tab
  * Verify that Bluetooth is not enabled and attempting to activate it fails
  * Enable the -proposed repository for the release (groovy)
  * sudo apt update
  * sudo apt install bluez
  * sudo reboot
  * Start the Settings application and switch to the Bluetooth tab
  * Verify that Bluetooth is active and that Bluetooth devices (e.g. mice,
mobile phones, headphones, etc.) can connect and operate correctly

  [Regression Potential]

Extremely low (on groovy in particular, this has the same version of
bluez as hirsute). The only significant risk is to non-Pi platforms or
dongles which also use the Broadcom 43xx (or Cypress 305) chips for
Bluetooth which might be inadvertently affected by these patches.

  [Original Description]

The new Pi 400 has a slightly different Wifi/BT chip to the Pi4.
Whilst wifi works happily, Bluetooth fails to operate. This doesn't
appear to be an issue with either the firmware (the latest versions
from upstream Raspbian have been tried), or the kernel (a known-good
raspi kernel has been tested under Ubuntu), but with Bluez itself.
Specifically, tracing the initialization with btmon on Raspbian and
Ubuntu, the stack consistently fails when attempting to "Set Default
PHY" on the latter. Curiously, under Ubuntu the adapter also appears
  to lack a MAC address.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1905539] Re: package light-themes 16.10+18.04.20181005-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: dpkg-deb --fsys-tarfile subprocess returned error exit status 2

2020-11-25 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1905560] [NEW] XServer Crashes with atk_component_scroll_to_point if NVIDIA Driver 340 is Used

2020-11-25 Thread Klaus Buehler
Public bug reported:

System:
- Lenovo ThinkPad T61 with
- Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 @ 2,2 GHz
- NVIDIA G86M (Quadro NVS 140M) graphics chipset.
- Samsung SSD 750, 250GByte
- 4Gbyte Hauptspeicher

OS: Ubuntu from 14.4 LTS, continuously upgraded to 18.04 LTS.
NVIDIA third-party free driver installed via ubuntu-drivers.

Notebook runs fine with 18.04. After upgrade to 20.04 LTS there is no GUI any
longer.
startx called from command-line reveals a crash of xserver due to an undefined
symbol (atk_component_scroll_to_point) in libatk-bridge2.0-0.

In the course of upgrading to 20.04 LTS, this lib has been updated from
2.26.2-1 to 2.34.2.

I found this workaround: uninstall libatk-bridge2.0-0 (Purge). It has
only 5 dependencies (some Python and Gnome-Orca) which are of no use to
me. Downloaded 2.26.2-1 out of 18.04-repo and installed it via dpkg.
Install runs smooth without any error message. After restart, GUI is
back again.

There is no doubt, the problem is caused by libatk-bridge2.0-0 > 2.26.2
due to the missing export of atk_component_scroll_to_point. Please
restore this (and possibly other) exports, that have been dropped
between 2.26.2 and 2.34.2, even if the corresponding functions are left
empty. One must not drop any function from ABI without increasing
library version. You can never tell, what relies on the existence of
these functions.

Regards, Klaus

Bug description:
  [Impact]

Without the patch users are unable to add google accounts because signond
crashes.
This prevents users from using KDE's online accounts feature for google.
The fix for this is to drop the no-rtti compile flag as qprocess relies on
type info. This has no real downside for the user as it simply brings in type
info.

  [Test Case]

  - in a plasma session
  - install kio-gdrive
  - run `systemsettings5 kcm_kaccounts`
  - add a new account
  - click on google
  - wait for login window to appear
  - signond shouldn't be crashing

  [Where problems could occur]

Cannot think of any. It simply adds type info to the objects. Also
upstream has rtti disabled for months and I'm not aware of any
  problems.

  [Other Info]

This is a fairly grave issue as far as user experience is concerned.

I'm reporting this bug upstream from where I found it, since I've learned
that the signond package in KDE Neon is sourced from Ubuntu focal.

This was found in signon (signond_8.59+17.10.20170606-0ubuntu2_amd64)
  from Focal Fossa

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install KDE Plasma and qt 5.15.0 on Ubuntu focal base (IE: KDE Neon)
  2. Install the kaccounts integration and kio-gdrive packages.
  3. Open System settings and navigate to "Online Accounts"
  4. Press "+ Add New Account"
  5. Select "Google"

  Observed behaviour:

  - Window that would ask for authentication fails to load, and Online Accounts
goes back to overview
  - system logs show a segfault in libqt5core.so which can be traced to a
failure in qporcess, casued by signond (see links for further details)

  Expected behaviour:
  - New window opens with a webview where Google authentication credentials can
be posted.
  - When qprocess runs it does not crash.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1871794] Re: [Bluetooth] No audio output/input in HSP/HFP mode

2020-11-25 Thread smurf
@Hui Wang
sudo apt install rtl8821ce-dkms didn't the magic in my case.
hsp/hfp is still not working. I disabled Secure Boot on my laptop, I hope is
not a problem.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1775392] Re: at-spi-bus-launcher makes Xorg crash when resuming from suspend

Title:
at-spi-bus-launcher makes Xorg crash when resuming from suspend

Looking at the journal messages
before the crash, there was always that flood of at-spi2-core
requests. So I uninstalled at-spi2-core and Xorg never crashed
  anymore.

This is a quite severe bug, which makes it impossible to use at-
  spi2-core.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1835660] Re: initramfs unpacking failed

2020-11-25 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
So lz4 compressed initrd looks like this with hexdump

568f580 0523 00ac 54bf 4152 4c49 5245 2121 0021
568f590 0001 1cff 0050
568f59a

I do wonder what ram is initialized too, and how those things look when
kernel reads initrd from memory as loaded by the bootloader / qemu.

Title:
  initramfs unpacking failed

Status in OEM Priority Project:
  New
Status in initramfs-tools package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
"initramfs unpacking failed: Decoding failed", message appears on
  boot up.

If I "update-initramfs" using gzip instead of lz, then boot up passes
  without decoding failed message.

  ---

However, we currently believe that the decoding error reported in
dmesg is actually harmless and has no impact on usability on the
  system.

Switching from lz4 to gzip compression, simply papers over the
warning, without any benefits, and slows down boot.

Kernel should be fixed to correctly parse lz4 compressed initrds, or
at least lower the warning, to not be user visible as an error.

Bug description:
I'm using my 20.04 system as a media center. It's got a bluetooth
adapter plugged into a USB port. I can connect to the system with my

The problem is that the volume on the source device is not respected

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1905576] [NEW] I cannot drag icons above to a particular region of my desktop

2020-11-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have two monitors set up, and one is vertical.

Here is a video:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/653633559206166541/781166447174352936/20201121_133143_1_1.mp4

1. Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS
2. Not sure what package this is
3. I expected the icon to go where I dragged it
4. The x-axis position was the same, but the y-axis position always gets set to
a certain height whenever I drag above that height (I think this has to do with
the top of my other display).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1905594] [NEW] upgrade disables all serial devices and consoles

2020-11-25 Thread Dan Streetman
Public bug reported:

[impact]

when upgrading, all serial devices are changed to 'dead' and thus all
serial consoles are stopped

[test case]

on a system configured with a serial console, upgrade from focal to the
latest systemd package from upstream, and check the serial console. the
state of the serial port and/or serial console can also be checked with
systemctl status, e.g.:

$ systemctl status dev-ttyS0.device

[regression potential]

and regression would likely involve incorrectly detected or operational
devices after a systemd version upgrade, or after a systemd pid1 reexec
or reload.

[scope]

TBD

Title:
upgrade disables all serial devices and consoles

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  [impact]

when upgrading, all serial devices are changed to 'dead' and thus all
  serial consoles are stopped

  [test case]

on a system configured with a serial console, upgrade from focal to
the latest systemd package from upstream, and check the serial
console. the state of the serial port and/or serial console can also
be checked with systemctl status, e.g.:

  $ systemctl status dev-ttyS0.device

  [regression potential]

and regression would likely involve incorrectly detected or
operational devices after a systemd version upgrade, or after a
  systemd pid1 reexec or reload.

  [scope]

  TBD

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1905044] Re: systemd 245.4-4ubuntu3.3 ADT test failure with linux-hwe-5.8

2020-11-25 Thread Kleber Sacilotto de Souza
@ddstreet thanks for pointing to that other bug report.

After applying the fix from
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/16424 to
systemd_245.4-4ubuntu3.3, 'systemd show' does work:

$ ./systemctl show -p CapabilityBoundingSet apparmor
CapabilityBoundingSet=cap_chown cap_dac_override cap_dac_read_search cap_fowner
cap_fsetid cap_kill

But the testcase fails a little bit down the line:

$ ./test-cap-list
cap_chown = 0
cap_dac_override = 1
cap_dac_read_search = 2
[...]
cap_block_suspend vs. cap_block_suspend
cap_audit_read vs. cap_audit_read
Assertion 'streq(t1, t)' failed at src/test/test-cap-list.c:61, function
test_capability_set_one(). Aborting.
Aborted (core dumped)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1905594] Re: upgrade disables all serial devices and consoles

2020-11-25 Thread Dan Streetman
as this is needed only for the debian experimental branch (with
v247-rc2), marking this as invalid for ubuntu.

** Description changed:

  [impact]

when upgrading, all serial devices are changed to 'dead' and thus all
  serial consoles are stopped

  [test case]

on a system configured with a serial console, upgrade from focal to the
latest systemd package from upstream, and check the serial console. the
state of the serial port and/or serial console can also be checked with
  systemctl status, e.g.:

  $ systemctl status dev-ttyS0.device

  [regression potential]

and regression would likely involve incorrectly detected or operational
devices after a systemd version upgrade, or after a systemd pid1 reexec
  or reload.

  [scope]

- TBD
+ both upstream commits (ids below) are first included upstream in
+ v247-rc1
+
+ [other info]
+
+ Upstream commit e77b146f825ef1bb63c297cc713962b94422d2c6 slightly
+ altered the meaning of the 'G' sd-device db tag, to 'any' tag, and added
+ a new 'Q' tag, meaning 'current' tag. When upgrading from udev before
+ that commit to after the commit, the existing udev db is not updated, so
+ the 'Q' tag is not present in the /run/udev/data/ db file for any
+ previously-existing devices.
+
+ However, upstream commit 242c1c075aa284c8a8657c5aca36147f528146ba then
+ changes the 'device_is_ready()' check in src/core/device.c to also check
+ for the 'current' tag of 'systemd'. That tag will not be present for any
+ devices in the system since udev just now was changed to know about the
+ 'Q' type 'current' tags, and has not updated its /run/udev/data db
+ files.
+
+ This leads to the systemd daemon-reexec ignoring all devices tagged with
+ 'systemd', but only the older 'G' tag and not the new 'Q' tag, and
+ marking them all as 'dead'.

  Package versions:

The release of Ubuntu 20.10 is less than two weeks out, so I'd like to
draw attention to a problem I've run into. It seems that 20.10
defaults to python3 and wants to install python-is-python3, which
pulls in the latest version of dh-python, which in turn can't co-exist
with Oracle's Virtualbox-6.1 and wants to uninstall it.

I don't mind having _both_ python2 (apparently a requirement of
VirtualBox) and python3 installed. But as of right now I can have
either python-is-python3, and not be able to do a complete upgrade
since virtualbox-6.1 will be uninstalled, or python-is-python2, in
  which case I cripple 20.10's python3 install, since I won't get dh-
  python and python-six.

Ia there something the python packagers do about this?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1903048] Re: [SRU] Bluetooth won't activate on the pi 400

2020-11-25 Thread hujq
I opened a new bug #1905627. And I didn't change anything regarding
Bluetooth from Ubuntu 20.10 default configuration. There is no miniuart-
bt in /boot/firmware/config.txt.

  * sudo apt update
  * sudo apt install bluez
  * sudo reboot

Curiously, under Ubuntu the adapter also appears
  to lack a MAC address.

src/test/test-cap-list.c:60, funct
  ion test_capability_set_one(). Aborting.
  FAIL: test-cap-list (code: 134)

  - upstream

  TEST-24-UNIT-TESTS:

  Assertion 'capability_set_to_string_alloc(c, &t1) == 0' failed at
src/test/test-cap-list.c:60, funct
  ion test_capability_set_one(). Aborting.
  --- test-cap-list end ---

Both seem to be failing with the same assertion.

These tests are successful on Focal with linux 5.4, therefore they
would regress when upgrading the kernel from 5.4 to 5.8.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1904671] Re: After a certain amount of time after the session is launched, mouse clicks are no longer accepted

2020-11-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It sounds like gnome-shell is frozen/crashed and Xorg is still running.

Please:

  [How To Reploduce]

  1. login in a Gnome session.
  2. launch some applications.
  3. use it for a few dozen minutes.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1905576] Re: I cannot drag icons above to a particular region of my desktop

unlikely to ever be fixed.

  1. Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS
  2. Not sure what package this is
  3. I expected the icon to go where I dragged it
  4. The x-axis position was the same, but the y-axis position always gets set

with the top of my other display).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1905555] Re: Xserver crash at start , black screen , 20.04 , Intel HD620

2020-11-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1905648] [NEW] fractional display scale cannot work properly

2020-11-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I switch on fractional scaling, and choose 125%/150%/175%,
everything gets very large. The screen can only display part of the
whole desktop. It is even larger than the 200%-scale.

P.S.
As I remember, the fractional scaling works well in May. But after a update in
May (forgot the exact date), fractional scaling cannot work properly anymore.
After that update, I can just use 200% scale setting. I'm so sorry to report
this bug so late.
Also, I tested both with only the builtin screen and with an external monitor
in 'Join Display' mode.
