Wifi icon on top panel disappears for me as well (16.04 + Unity). I have to use settings > network to deal with the WiFi connections. Happens mostly when I " suspend " and resume my PC. I do not use an ethernet cable. So, unable to comment on that. sudo service network-manager restart nm-applet These commands, when active on terminal brings back the icon. Public bug reported: I tried Wayland while logging in and it works fine until I try to play some local video file using VLC. Ubuntu freezes completely and I have to power off by pressing the power button. It works fine in the default Xorg Ubuntu session. Tried a live session using Ventoy and Mantic Minotaur daily build 2 days back. It was having kernel 6.3. The volume issue didn't go away.
