Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1509780] Re: High cpu usage when lightdm screenlock is active

2015-11-06 Thread Norbert Schulze
When the screenlocks by light-locker, the lightdm-gtk-greeter uses
100% CPU. This happens only, when i use my fujitsu ultrabook on
portreplikator with a second monitor.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1471790] Re: Audiotrak MAYA U5 not fully supported

2016-08-29 Thread Norbert Langner
Unfortunately, above method does not work for me. After that LED
indicator is blinking repeatedly, but sometimes I still can't hear any
sound - it is needed to unplug and plug MAYA again several times.

Title:
Audiotrak MAYA U5 not fully supported

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I have a problem with usb-audio Audiotrack Maya U5 on Ubuntu 14.04.2:

  Steps to reproduce:
  1) Try to play a sound
  2) You can either get a sound out of the speakers or not which is random
  3) Stop the sound and wait ~5 seconds for the device to suspend (light on
device stops blinking)
  4) You are back at point 2

  Another way to reproduce it:
  1) Try to play a sound
  2) If the sound is not playing open pavucontrol try to change profile between
analog stereo output and digital stereo output several times until it “clicks”
and you get a sound through one of this outputs

With analog speakers connected sound should be playing only with
analog output and it should not reset outputs upon device suspend.

This problem started after I upgraded firmware from Audiotrack's
  website (http://audiotrack.net/en/download/421) to RELEASE 10. I tried
to downgrade firmware but with no luck.

Other problem is that there are no inputs – either digital, line in or
  microphone in pavucotrol.

I tried several kernels from 3.2 to 4.1 and this bug is present at all
  that I tested.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1761986] [NEW] hostname change with static ip overwrites (manual) resolv.conf

2018-04-07 Thread Norbert Pfeiler
Public bug reported:

1) on a »Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS« with static ip configuration in
/etc/network/interfaces and manual entries in /etc/resolv.conf
2) network-manager 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 is enabled but doesn’t manage any
interfaces and therefore doesn’t start dnsmasq

3) using hostnamectl and updating /etc/hosts doesn’t break dns
resolution

4) changing the hostname however triggers NetworkManager to start
dnsmasq and overwrite /etc/resolv.conf

Workarounds are chattr’ing /etc/resolv.conf or – in this case –
disabling NetworkManager but i think this shouldn’t happen.

If Ubuntu think that this is the correct way, fine with me. But Gnome3
is not the only Desktop, and some users *might* want interesting stuff,
too. So I leave this to the Ubuntu maintainers.

What do you do on the Ubuntu side with say
julia.desktop
which starts a julia shell?
Similarly: ocaml, R, SageMath, ... there are quite a lot of applications
with Terminal=true?

Hide all of them in Gnome?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1870260] Re: initramfs unpacking failed: Decoding failed", message appears on boot up.

2020-07-08 Thread Norbert Nord
update-initramfs -u gives the following error message: /usr/bin/update-
initramfs: 185: cannot create /var/lib/initramfs-tools/5.4.0-40-generic:
Directory nonexistent

I completely stuck after first boot of freshly installed ubuntu 20.04.

Bug description:
  OS : Ubuntu 20.04(20200401)

Problem: "initramfs unpacking failed: Decoding failed", message
  appears on boot up

  solution:
If we edit /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf and COMPRESS=lz4, to
COMPRESS=gzip
then the error is fixing .

  Expected solution:
This but in there from a long time I have seen this from
Ubuntu 18.04,19.04,19.10
now in 20.04 So please fix it or change it from lz4 to gzip.
an early reply is highly appreciated
  Thank you .

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1921484] Re: libedit no longer reads editrc

2021-07-27 Thread Norbert Möndjen
The bug is still there. Rendering the mysql client almost useless. You
can not work efficient with the mysql client without proper keybindings.
Either put mysql pack to readline or make libedit to read .editrc. It's
a pity and it is annoying.

Title:
  libedit no longer reads editrc

Status in libedit package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  strings /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libedit.so.2.0.56 |grep editrc in
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS returns /.editrc as expected but strings
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libedit.so.2.0.63 |grep editrc in Ubuntu
20.04 LTS comes back empty. Verified with strace'ing the mysql client
as well: editrc is no longer picked up, making mysql rather irritating
to use. Peeking at the source code, the problematic commit is d253f567
which wraps the editrc code in an "#ifdef HAVE_ISSETUGID" which is BSD
only. I am unable to find upstream in version control to help further.
