[translate-pootle] LIVE_TRANSLATIONS=False and pootle/locale folder not working
Hi all, We are using the latest github2.5 code and we have added some extra functionality for our big Linguistic Team International (code is not clean and nice but it works for the moment) https://github.com/capiscuas/pootle/tree/linguisticteam I realized that our instance of pootle at pootle.linguisticteam.org didn't have the user interface translations working, I researched that DJango/Pootle wasn't reading the pootle/locale/LANG/pootle.mo pootle_js.mo files that I compiled with compilemessages command. By chanching the paths to pootle/locale/LANG/LC_MESSAGES/django.mo django_js.mo it works. Is there a way to Pootle read the current correct filenames? How is it done in locamotion? Best Regards. Re: [translate-pootle] LIVE_TRANSLATIONS=False and pootle/locale folder not working
That worked! Could you guys add that command somewhere in the docs? http://translate.readthedocs.org/projects/pootle/en/latest/server/index.html#installation There is no reference about python build.py build_mo yet. Re: [translate-pootle] Video/Audio Transcription/Proofreading support for Pootle
Hi Dwayne, I really like your task priority and I'll start working on the displaying video player in the edit page. Leaving the subtitle timing and the transcribing for the future. Probably I'll have to deal with AJAX support in the edit page before showing the video, unless I want to show it in a popup window and communicate trough javascript, maybe in a first prototipe it can be like that. Thanks for the very constructive critique. Ivan. Spain. The end goal would be online translation of subtitle and viewing of the results. So what we'd need is: * Editing the subtitle files online - should work with Pootle 2.1 thanks to Alaa's work. * Displaying a media player, that plays the video with the translated subtitle - this would need to be integrated into the editor, would need to use hooks to generate the translated subtitle files and need some logic to know which file to use for subtitles. At this stage people can translated and view their results. Pretty good! Then looking at the more advanced things makes sense after this. I'd prioritise them as follows: 1) Change timings. An early one that allows timing data to be displayed and adjusted. 2) Transcribing - its quite a different paradigm 3) The other cools stuff you mention -- Download Intel#174; Parallel Studio Eval Try the new software tools for yourself. [translate-pootle] Video/Audio Transcription/Proofreading support for Pootle
Hi, I'm new in the pootle development but not in python/django. I proposed the following idea that I will be developing during the next months keeping contact with the pootle devs and respecting the pootle arquitecture. Description: Pootle still doesn't have support to transcribe into subtitles the online streaming videos/audios that we can find at Youtube, Vimeo, etc. Currently there are some propietary online apps that can do that, (dotsub.com, subtitle-horse.org , etc) , but nothing open source, yet. A start to this project would be to provide the core support in Pootle to create a transcription from a video streaming url. The transcription page view should have a flash player embedded(recommended the JW FLV Player with Copyleft license) so the user can adjust the timing of the subtitles. In addition Pootle should allow to distinguish transcriptors, proofreaders and translators users. And have different permission rights for them. The interface should support the ability to play the audio/video at the time position where the phrase is. Extra features: - Support to configure a Speech Recognition tool or API to automatize a initial transcription done by machine. - Support to configure a multi-lingual speech synthesis system tool (e.g. Festival) to provide audios of the translated subtitles. - Modifying the source code of the JW player to provide a fast access to the subtitles list for each video(e.g. SubPly player) Reference code: JW player. http://developer.longtailvideo.com/trac/browser/tags/mediaplayer-5.0 Reference links: dotsub.com subtitle-horse.org Subply Player: http://www.longtailvideo.com/addons/plugins/69/SubPLY?q=subtitles I hope you can give me some feedback about it, how can we adapt the Pootle model to support this, etc Many thanks.
