[Translators-packages] [Bug 2033377] Re: New whitespace between digits and colon in time at top of desktop screen

2023-09-07 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package language-selector - 0.224

language-selector (0.224) mantic; urgency=medium

  * data/pkg_depends:
- Pull also fcitx5-frontend-qt6 for Chinese (non-GNOME) users.

form some times I am wondering why the Occitan language is called here «Occitan

[Translators-packages] [Bug 1808864] [NEW] Poor translation of zh_CN gpasswd(1) man page

2018-12-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

man -l /usr/share/man/zh_CN/man1/gpasswd.1.gz

The zh_CN version of gpasswd(1) not only is partially done, but also
contains an error in the first sentence. The translator confused the
verb "administer" with the person "administrator." The section heading,
originally "Notes (noun) about group passwords," was translated as
"Please note (verb) the group passwords." Even Google translate does
better!

Translation errors
==
gpasswd - administer /etc/group and /etc/gshadow
gpasswd - 管理员 /etc/group 和 /etc/gshadow
  ^^ 管理员 -- administrator
 管理 -- administer

Notes about group passwords
请注意组密码
^^ 请注意…… -- please note (v.)
   关于……的说明 -- notes (n.) about

Typos
=
-h, --help
Display help message and exit.

-h, --help
现实帮助信息并退出。
 显示 Xiǎnshì -- display
 现实 Xiànshí -- reality

Correct Google translate results (this but unironically)

"gpasswd - administer /etc/group and /etc/gshadow"
"gpasswd - 管理 /etc/group 和 /etc/gshadow"

"Notes about group passwords"
"关于组密码的说明"

"Display help message and exit."
"显示帮助消息并退出。"

Bug description:
  Hi,

myspell-es creates a bunch of softlinks under /usr/share/hunspell for
spanish dictionaries for latin american countries. This only creates,
  in my opinion, two problems:

  1) It misleads the user into thinking that these dictionaries are
actually distinct, say, as the UK and the US english ones. They are
  obviously the same.

  2) It creates a lot of visual clutter in the applications that use
them. When I open the spelling language chooser in Thunderbird, for
example, the list of meaningless choices fills the screen, and it
actually makes hard to find the choice I care about (mostly just
  switching between english-us and spanish-they-are-all-the-same).

Please consider this a minor/wishlist bug, with the suggested option
  of:

  1) Removing all es_++ options but one.
  2) Choosing that one for the user (easier, say es_ES ) or giving the user the
option of using whatever suffix they want for their country, but let's be
straight with them and let them now this is vanilla dictionary.

  Gracias.

[Translators-packages] [Bug 1696418] Re: gnome-help/shell-introduction.page link to removed files

2018-08-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-user-docs - 3.8.2-1ubuntu0.1

---
gnome-user-docs (3.8.2-1ubuntu0.1) trusty; urgency=medium

  * debian/rules:
Set NO_PKG_MANGLE so the translations are not stripped. This works
around the fact that the localized gnome-help pages are not
included in the latest (last?) version of the
language-pack-gnome-XX-base packages (LP: #1696418).

Bug description:
  [Impact]

The latest language pack update for trusty at 2016-07-20 did (for
unknown reason) not include the localized gnome-help pages, so gnome-
help is displayed in English whatever the session language is.

The proposed upload sets the NO_PKG_MANGLE variable, so the package is
built without language stripping. This works around the failure with
  the language packs.

  [Test Case]

Open gnome-help with a non-English language (using Spanish as
  example):

  LANGUAGE=es yelp help:gnome-help

  Current package: Showed in English

  Proposed package: Showed in Spanish

  [Regression Potential]

Negligible. This is in practice a no-change rebuild.

  [Original description]

  p.e.:
  /usr/share/help/es/gnome-help/shell-introduction.page
  is a link to /usr/share/help-langpack/es/gnome-help/shell-introduction.page

A lot of pages became broken links since some update of language-pack-
  gnome-*-base lost target files.

[Translators-packages] [Bug 1732222] [NEW] Language support not installed matching locale

2017-11-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When Ubuntu is installed with UK locale settings during setup, all of
the language support is not installed and some applications e.g.
LibreOffice display with non-UK English. The extra language support is
prompted to be installed *the first time* the user accesses the language
options (see screenshot attached).

When this language support is installed, these applications then
(correctly) display menus etc in UK English.

Ubuntu setup appears to not install the matching locale languages.

[FFe] upgrade KDE localisations/translations for KDE to 16.12

Status in kde-l10n-engb package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Reported against kde-l10-engb, but a FFE for all translations.

The KDE localisations/translations need to be updated to the current
release v 16.12.3 in line with our apps.

These are currently still at version 16.04.3 so badly in need of the
  update.

We would like to get these uploaded and through into release for
testing in the beta. These should pass rapidly through proposed.

Testing so far has not revealed any issues (en_GB, Spanish, German,
Polish etc), but with 55 languages wider testing in the beta would be
  very advantageous.

Releases since last update to 16.04.3 are 16.08.0, 16.08.1, 16.08.2,
  16.08.3, 16.12.0, 16.12.1, 16.12.3, 16.12.3.

KDE do not detail changelogs for translations with the release notes
(impractical I guess), but the svn for example en_GB can be found
  here:

  https://websvn.kde.org/trunk/l10n-kf5/en_GB/messages/applications/

Our staging builds of these packages we have been testing can be found
  here:

This in contrast to the German language pack that is of the version
4:15.12.1-0 and that leaves the system in tact.

[Translators-packages] [Bug 1570055] Re: FTBFS on powerpc

2016-04-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package lua5.1 - 5.1.5-8ubuntu1

---
lua5.1 (5.1.5-8ubuntu1) xenial; urgency=medium

  * debian/patches/0001-debian_make.patch: never use libtool --quiet
which is always the wrong answer for package builds.
  * debian/patches/0001-debian_make.patch: do not pass a version script when
building executables; this is meant for libraries, and its use appears to
be breaking the build on powerpc (probably due to a toolchain regression).
LP: #1570055.

  rebuild-20160401-xenial.html

I've done some investigation, but not found the source of the
problems. Trying to capture what I know here.

The build fails because part of the build tries to run `src/lua5.3 -v`
and that segfaults. It crashes after main() exits in _IO_wsetb() in
glibc's wgenops.c:105. This is because f->_wide_data points to bogus
data. Setting a breakpoint in main() doesn't help because the data is
already corrupted by then. Setting a breakpoint in _start or _init
and then a watchpoint on this point shows that it gets corrupted in
_IO_check_libio() in glibc's oldstdfiles.c. We then thought the
likely culprit was compilation with g++ but linkage with gcc, however
fixing that to compile and link *everything* with g++ doesn't solve
the problem. This is the change we made in 5.3.1-1ubuntu1, which can
  be thrown away.

But the problem *is* related to lua5.3's d/patches/0001-build-
system.patch because if you remove that from the quilt stack, you end
  up with a src/lua (not version numbered) for which `lua -v` doesn't
  segfault.

My only other thought was that maybe libtool was corrupting things,
but I wasn't able to prove that. I tried various other
transformations of that patch without success.

Russian words containing the letter ё (yo) are marked as misspelled

Status in hunspell-ru package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Russian spell-checking dictionary currently marks all words containing
Ё/ё as misspelled. However, those words must be considered correctly
spelled both with Е/е and with Ё/ё.

Russian alphabet contains a letter Ё/ё (pronounced as yoh). When
writing, Russian language allows substituting this letter with Е/е
(pronounced as yeh). But there are cases when the use of Ё/ё is
obligatory, that is, when substituting Ё with Е changes the meaning
  completely.

  Here is the current workaround:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/625302/how-to-teach-ubuntu-15-04-russian-spelling-system-the-%D1%91-letter
There is Russian hunspell dictionary which tolerates Ё/ё in the PPA:
ppa:andrew-crew-kuznetsov/xneur-stable
Maybe we should replace the current hunspell-ru package with the one provided
with the PPA or is there a way to merge them?

  Kubuntu 13.04/KDE 4.10.3

  Package:
   kde-l10n-zhcn Version 4.10.3-0ubuntu1~ubuntu13.04~ppa1

  What I wanted to do:
Uninstall package ibus (IME), ibus-pinyin, ibus-pinyin-db-open-database,
pinyin-database, python-ibus, libibus-1.0.0

  What instead happened:
4.10.3-0ubuntu1~ubuntu13.04~ppa1 depends on package ibus-pinyin. Uninstalling
ibus doesn't work, only if uninstalling kde-l10n-zhcn as well as
languagepack-kde-zh-hans.

Does that make sense? I use fcitx and there are more IME around. So I
don't need ibus as far as I understand. Could that be changed?

  Thank you!
