Re: [Trisquel-users] Problems with AMD screen resolution
The memory use thing isn't cause for alarm; Linux tends to use RAM that isn't used by anything else for cacheing. This RAM will be immediately given to other programs requesting it, so it is still available, even though it's being used. See: http://www.linuxatemyram.com/
Re: [Trisquel-users] Virtualisation (Theoretical)
Virtualization software might support passthrough of PCI devices, handling the physical hardware in guest (KVM does support it). If the host driver doesn't handle the device, the guest can. The kernel has no restrictions on what modules or drivers can be used, the provided modules are modified to not include nor recommend nonfree firmware, with a side-effect of not supporting loading it without replacing the kernel or module. Future Linux-libre versions will probably fix it. pgpZNS56nYT03.pgp Description: PGP signature
Re: [Trisquel-users] Virtualisation (Theoretical)
jabjabs wrote: Cool, conflicting answers. :D Haha yeah. To expand on my answer earlier, VirtualBox and KVM create virtual hardware interfaces which the virtual OS talks to. Because VB and KVM are free software and the interfaces are documented, the GNU/Linux drivers within the virtual OS for those interfaces should also be free (in theory). But as legimet pointed out, there is no reason why binary blobs (whether for drivers or otherwise) would not run inside the virtual machine generally speaking. They would just not 'talk' to the real hardware, only virtual. Andrew.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Is Clear Sans a true free/libre font?
fonts-croscore in Trisquel 7 provides better fonts than fonts-liberation since Arimo, Tinos, and Cousine are based on Liberation, but also provide more language support.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Problems with AMD screen resolution
Maybe if you monkey around with your xorg.conf you might get the correct reso on vesa. I'm sorry but that's about as exact instructions I can give you, it's a bit of a black art...
Re: [Trisquel-users] Virtualisation (Theoretical)
I read that it was going to be fixed in 3.14, but I never looked at the code to see if it was. I don't really care, though.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Is Clear Sans a true free/libre font?
I was just showing some examples of font screenshots because lembas suggested that you upload one. I have never heard of fonts-croscore, I'll take a look at it.
Re: [Trisquel-users] volume keys stop working
You could bind the keys to the following commands: amixer set Master 1+ amixer set Master 1- amixer set Master toggle
Re: [Trisquel-users] Ruben's Keynote from OpenEdJam 2014
Any news about the publishing of Ruben's keynote?
Re: [Trisquel-users] volume keys stop working
Thanks
Re: [Trisquel-users] Problems with AMD screen resolution
Did you try un-blacklisting radeon? If that didn't work, blacklist it and compile libdrm without Radeon KMS.
Re: [Trisquel-users] volume keys stop working
You're welcome.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Problems with AMD screen resolution
I ran into basically the same issue only with a older Nvidia card. I tried to fix it for a while but didn't get any further. I'm back on Trisquel 6 for now. Other than that 7 worked well for me.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Lantern - An app to end censorship
Honestly, The product sounds real good in theory, but is about bandwidth and accessibility to my computer so others could throttle on it, and for me it needs more {CLARITY} when it comes to privacy, security and integrity. At least in thor is more clear and specific, If you follow the instructions of thor to avoid detection and maintain complete anomity, I dont see, why should install such product without been testing throughly. Here is another concern, What does FSF has to say about it? The FSF is already sposoring thor and not lantern. There is a old saying, when stuff sounds to be truth, is when you are been deceived and slime Thor had a rough start, but when they fix there errors, and fine tune such program it does the job. Try to do a trace route using thor, or scan port a web site using thor, you will notice the origin IP is someone elses.
[Trisquel-users] If anyone sees hash sum mismatch after apt-get update
Change your repository to FTP. The France, India and Spain repo are serving still in ftp. The error is caused by ISPs running caching proxy, and yes they also use it censor the web.
Re: [Trisquel-users] can lxde look nice?
That sounds very probable. It looks like something from the past, a little bit like windows 95. But I liked it. It could also be that they are so keen on other things that they just do not care about it looking nice.
[Trisquel-users] On screen notifications
Is there any way to change how long 'onscreen notifications' appear for? I'm talking about the ones that appear in the upper right corner to let you know that a new track is being played, or a new email has arrived, etc. They seem to hang around too long and I want to reduce the time they're visible for.

gary02121993 wrote: Fight For The Internet (FFTF) told me about it via mail subscription. Here's the link: https://www.getlantern.org/ For those asking about the difference between Tor and Lantern, Lantern is a censorship circumvention mechanism but not an anonymity network. Lantern can also be used as a Tor Pluggable Transport as an alternative to obfs3, scramblesuit, flashproxy and others. However, obfs3 is still most recommended by the Tor project for censored users. https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/doc/PluggableTransports Andrew.
